Comment: that's nice just as long as they have Prince singing The title song, "Purple Rain." and to be really honest, they should had PattiBelle sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". let Bey sing the title song from "The Sound of Music" or something.

Comment: There are a number of movie soundtracks that I appreciate, The Mack by Willie Hutch, SUPERFLY, by Curtis Mayfield (which I think is one of the greatest by the way) and DreamGirls.

Comment: Add "Shaft" from Isaac Hayes and "Sparkle" from Curtis Mayfield to the list.

Name: MOTHERSHIP
Comment: Silver, how could I forget "Sparkle??" Sistah Re put it down on that piece. Thaks for reminding me!

Name: GHank
Comment: "SUPERFLY" was the best movie soundtrack...."HANDS DOWN"! followed by "Shaft". Also, "ROOTS" by Quincy Jones is very good as well.

Comment: Can I add the Waiting To Exhale soundtrack to that list???

Name: Renegade
Comment: while we are at it please add the Boomerang soundtrack.

Name: MOTHERSHIP
Comment: Yeah, Coco, you can add "Exhale" Face wrote the whole CD on the redeye from LA to NY on a paper bag!

Comment: >MOTHERSHIP, The Mack Soundtrack is awesome and I will second Exhale and Boomerang! Does anyone remember the name of the song Prince wrote for Patti LaBelle?

Name: soulmusic101
Comment: Prince wrote "Hey Mister" for Patti...His Royal Badness deserves the best SoundTrax of all time. From "Darling Nikki" to "When Dove's Cry" to "Computer Blue" to "Baby I'm A Star" and everything else, there was no filler. Gotta give a tie to Sparkle and SuperFly. I need to compile a best of Curtis Mayfield Movie Mix that includes Sparkle, SuperFly, Claudine, Let's Do It Again and other's.

Comment: LA, The Mack and Superfly are my all time favorites.

Comment: Re: DocSmooth and his alter ego BrotherMan2004... Maybe it's a case of Dr. Jekyll and Mister Hyde?

Comment: Southern, look up ^ for "Exhale."

Comment: soulmusic101..That Thomstrong Williams tried to be slick. That GOP plant. LOL

Comment: Most of the movies mentioned have great soundtracks but it seems the criteria used to compose VF's list centers on which soundtracks made indelible mark(s) in pop culture (iconic). No question The Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night" should be on this list. Consider this: "Purple Rain" even had a dance created (lol), "The Graduate" Mrs. Robinson?? Definitely made a mark. "Sat.Nt.Fever"? Bee Gees-disco-polyester-Candies-Platforms? Definitely made a mark. "The Big Chill" - who can forget the kitchen scene and lipsynching to Motown?? "The Harder They Come" - introduction of Reggae to the mainstream. "Waiting To Exhale" was a good movie and I certainly enjoyed the music but no way did the music make a mark in pop culture ....Now I hope VF included Shaft because that's definitely an iconic movie.

Comment: LOL...GOP Plant...I knew Dude was full of himself and he even had MusB fooled...LOL...MusB was starting to sing the praises of Bill O'Lielly, FAKE News, and ready to go knocking door-to-door for Ms. Gulliani.....URKillingMe...Good post since you broke it down that way and for that reason alone Shaft should be on the list. I will never forget the line "Shaft is a bad Mother...Shut your mouth...but I'm talkin bout Shaft." Issac hayes was able to do Chef on South Park because of that one track and everybody knew his name and voice. Saturday Night Fever, white polyester suit, The Bee Gee's owning the Top Pop Ten with their own hit's, while writing and passing hit's out like candy to their Brother Andy Gibb (not on the Soundtrack but should have been), Yvonne Elliman, and Tavares. I still dig the track "Love So Right" by The BG's which was pre-Saturday Night Fever.
