Comment: "Free at last, free at last. Thank God Almighty. I'm Free at last!" You are an intelligent, articulate, respectful young man that made a mistake and took responsibility for it. God knows I am thankful I never got caught up on some of the dumb things I did as a teenager. I learned from those mistakes and never made them again. I can tell this young man has been nothing less than accountable for his mistakes and we will never see his name associated with the penal system again. I expect great things from you Genarlow and I can tell you do too. Good luck young man. -Deuces

Comment: He seems like he is going to learn from this situation, i hope he sues them though cause them jokers was wrong for treating him like a crimal for head...

Comment: I so admire this youg man so much. He is definitely very mature for his age. He is on the right paath and nothing can stop him now. He will be a name that we will all never forget and his case should be a landmark case. He was treated harshly and the system tried to use him to prove a point but in the end God stepped in and he was the final judge in this situation. I hope that what happened to him will deter our young black men to just think first before they act on a situation. As long as they weigh their options and realize that they will always be consequences to some actions that you take then they should be alright. I have much love for Wilson and his mother who stood by her son through it all. I am glad that Essence got this interview and I hope that it was one that did him justice but I have to also wonder why didn't Oprah rush to get him on her show, he is black and she is a powerful woman. she is coming to Macon, Georgia on November 17, but they have not said what the show is going to be about. Hopefully he will be a guest on her show since it is in Georgia.Good luck with your future Wilson i hope nothing but the best for you and your family. You will be a rich young man but you have still got to be very very careful of whom you associate with because they are going to try and trip you up. I hope someone genuinely have your back.

Comment: Hold your head up G. Wilson, you triumphed. I agree with whomever said it 1ST, get yourself a good Lawyer and finance your College career and future House.

Comment: Sultry, great post. You know what I didn't think about that, you may be onto something with Oprah coming to GA (btw, I sooo want to go, I filled out the little application, lol). Anyway, on Genarlow, yall are right. So mature! A guy on the news said his foresight at that young age is remarkable, to have the guts (of FAITH) to turn down the plea deals he was offered realizing doing so would cripple his life forever is just remarkable. He said he expected more from his life and it shows. Wow...

Comment: I hope and pray that he gets that football scholarship that awaited him before this unfortunate event. I would hate for him to miss the great athletic experience that college sports presents. Granted I want him to hit those books hard, but also want him to enjoy that great gridiron competition. I too hopes he appears on Oprah to appeal to the young folk. Maybe he can convince some of the hip hoppers to pull their pants up and stop S A G G I N. By the way, what is saggin spelled backwards?

Comment: Very positive young brother...keep your head up and always say a prayer and God is right there with you. You were wrongly prosecuted and things will work out in your favor.

Comment: I got to the boards late yesterday and posted this on the Genarlow story: I'm glad justice has been served for this young black man. He's spent 2 years behind bars, and that's enough time for the act he engaged in. Now, I would like to see the same high-profile blacks who worked for Genarlow use that same amount of energy and effort to seek justice for the 2 black WOMEN who have been victimized recently- Meagan Williams, who was held captive and tortured in a trailor for a week, and the Hatian woman who was gang-raped (by young BLACK MEN) and forced to perform oral sex on her own son. For those who are interested and want to help these victims, I got the following info from the November issue of Essence: Contributions to Megan Williams- Logan County Sheriff's Department, 300 Stratton Street, Room 209, Logan WV 25601. Or call the Logan County Sheriff's Office at 304-792-8590. Contributions to the mother and son from Dunbar Village- St. Ann Catholic Church, 310 N. Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach FL 33401. Make checks payable to Dunbar Victim Assistance Fund. Or call 561-832-3757 for more information.

Comment: Since he acknowledges that he made choices he "probably" shouldn't have, I'm hoping that he learned something from his ordeal. While I beleive that he was over-sentenced and am glad that he has been released, I am very disturbed that he and his friends thought it was OK to run a train a young girl, even one who is passed out and cannot say "yes" or "no", and who also see nothing wrong with VIDEO TAPING it and showing it anyone who wants a peek. Do they not realize that that behavior not only degrades the girls but degrades themselves too? I have a young son and by God it is my mission to teach him how to respect HIMSELF enough that he will respect women, period. Even if he runs across a woman who doesn't respect herself, he will have enough self-respect and good sense to know to WALK AWAY... And if he sees a "train" about to happen and he can help it, he should take the girl out of the situation as well.

Name: YLawdY
Comment: Why are we sending money to those people? Help them do what? Because they were victims? We didn't victimize them. The DA's office will handle the cost of the prosecution and the Victim's Advocate will provide counciling. What exactly is the money for?

Comment: Genarlow sounds like he will keep his life on the right track. Ron Mexico, TI, etc. take notes. This "child" is more on the ball with accepting responsibility for his actions than a lot of grown azz men.

Comment: This kid had such a bright future and still does. We all did something really stupid in high school that we simply weren't busted for or our parents didn't find out. I remember smoking pot in the school bleachers and God knows had my mother and grandmother found out, I wouldn't be here to type this comment. I think blessings are going to start pouring in for this young man. Hopefully it will open his eyes to the very present racism that exists like it did in slavery!

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: CNG, you thought it was appropriate to serve two years for consensual sex? Word? He was not convicted of rape as your posting about the "unconscious" girl would accuse. He was convicted of having innapropriate relations and child molestation. Another "send 'em to jail hunh".....oh well...to each his/her own.

Name: JGGIRL
Comment: Genarlow was incarcerated for almost 3 years, not two. He went to jail in February 2005.

Name: Closet_Nerd_Girl
Comment: >musb- The law as it originally was instated required him to serve 10 years. Georgia legislators later realized that it was insane to apply the same rules to stupid teenagers that is applied to adult child predators, and later reduced it to a misdameanor status and changed it to 1 year. Thus, since Genarlow had already served 2 years (or 2 years and 8 months to be exact JGGIRL) he had already served enough time (under the new law). That's all I was saying. And if you had read my second post, I clearly stated that I thought Genarlow was oversentenced. I know he wasn't convicted of rape, and I am not suggesting that he should have been. But the fact is that he participated in running a train on those girls and had he chosen not to do so, all of this would have been avoided. I have no idea what your "send 'em to jail hunh" statement means, but I have a young son and I know that society has placed a target on his back just because he's a black male. I am making it my business as a parent to instill self-respect and values in him so that he will not put himself in situations where he can get "caught up" and end up in jail or worse over some dumb shyt.

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: I wasn't on the attack. I was referring to the post when you said "that's enough time for the act he engaged in." It was more to the point about the "enough time for the act." IMO the act itself(oral sex) wasn't enough to warrant any prison time. And yes, there would be no prisons if people didn't commit crimes or a need for much law enforcement for that matter...lol But, I get your point. I just see too many parents having nervous breakdowns about their kids becuz they felt that they (the parent) did the right thing. It provides them structure and influences but not 'dicate' their actions.

Comment: mudb- It's all good. Genarlow and his lawyer were just on CNN doing an interview. I caught the tail end of it, and was impressed by his demeanor. He appears go have a good head on his shoulders and I wish him well with his plans to attend college and get on with his life.

Name: JGGIRL
Comment: My 3 year comment is directed at the article which says he served almost two years. He actually served almost three years. They should report it accurately.

Comment: Props & blessings to my young brotha GW as I wish him the best but I wonder if some of you ladies would be saying the same thing ig some adult females were involved say around 21 or 22 & the males were underage? I wonder...!

Name: naturalsista
Comment: i am extremely happy that genarlow has been freed and that he can start over with his life without the blemish of being labeled a felon. speaking from personal experience you can train up your child in the way they should go but it's up to them as to how they conduct themselves when you are not present.
