Comment: Good luck Johbn on your latest project! We attended Colorado State University in the late 60's and Amos was a great brother. He was always telling jokes and calling you up at 4am in the morning (Saturday) asking you to meet him at the Old Main to play basketball. He was proud to have attended East Orange H. S. with Dionne Warwick. Carole Burnett was crazy about him! He also knew Barbara Davidson, the late Mother of Comedian Tommy Davidson who attended CSU.

Comment: They could've gone more into his relationship with the Cash family. I mean, hello, it's not like this came out of left field or anything!!!!!!

Comment: BigChassie: One of the reasons I NEVER sent CSU one penny in all these years is the way they treated Amos. John was an older student who came to CSU to play football. The coach Mike Lude and other redneck coaches didn't like Amos because he was married to Nonie who was white. John was a P E major and they SYSTEMATICALLY had him flunked out of CSU since many of his classes were in P E dept. I vividly remember him coming to my dorm room asking me how he could get 5 housrs of "A" so he could stay in school. Those racist, red neck coaches didn't want Amos to be our role model for fear we would mess with those Colorado white, cowgirls! Lude & Co. were so 'christian' and would smile in your face and talk about the goodness of Jesus and then consider you as subhuman behind your back. I remember Lude telling my late roommate J. B. of Baltimore, "J. B., any girl(white) who would date on of you guys(Black) is low classed and immoral and not worthy of being around". I'll NEVER forget that and CSU!!!

Comment: FANKEEPING>whaaat? dayum! that's really too bad. did John Tranferr to another school? that is so fyucked up! and did Carol Burnett go to CSU too?

Comment: McNasty>I heard him on the TJMS this morning and from what I heard he does more talking, i.e. rap than singing. I hate to say it but it sounded terrible. But, if it's his passion and he can make a few bucks from it then I say go John. Do your thing!!

Comment: Well, alright then. I didn't know the man could sing. Good for him. He got a FIVE album deal. Wow. I really like him. I loved him in "Let's Do It Again". That is one of my favorite movies. I may have to pop that one in tonight. FANTEEKING>>>That is some messed up shhhh....stuff. I wonder where those 'Christians' are right now.

Comment: BigChassie: When Lude & Company flunked Amos out of CSU, he went to L. A. and teamed up with a comedienne named Annie (don't remember last name) and they had a comedy act in Hollywood called "Amos 'n' Annie". They were very successful in Hollywood! Once Amos was invited to a party that Carole Burnett attended and he was telling jokes and just being "Amos". She was so over taken by his natural comedic appeal that she immediately created a spot on Mary Tyler Moore Show for him. Remember the last seasons of her show wherein Amos played Gordie the weatherman?

Comment: BigChassie: I went to Apollo Theatre one night in early 70's to see the James Brown Show. Before the show, I went to the movie theatre one block east and saw "Sweet Sweet Back". During the end of the show, I dropped my popcorn and started hollering, "Man, that's my buddy Amos, right there!" People thought I wuz crazy!!! LOL!! At end of movie, there is a scene where these motor cyclist come into this room and take their helmets off. Lo and behold, one was John Amos. I really got a kick out of dat!!!

Name: bigchassie
Comment: FANKEEP>Oh yeah, i remember him. The Mary Tyler Mo Show was produced by Carol Burnett? i didn't know that. and he was good as the weatherman Gordie. he was also good on the West Wing too.

Name: McNasty
Comment: Southernbelle I heard that too and, well I couldn't very well change my post!lol I hope he had fun and this project proves to be a lucrative one cause he stank so bad the radio emitted gases!lmao

Comment: JFfromMO: The last thing I heard was Mike "Milo" Lude was the athletic director at Auburn University. This was 10 years ago. When Amos played in the "World's Greatest Athlete" he had the director to change the name of one of the bufoonish actors to "Milo" to ridicule Mike Lude. These 'christians' used to invite me to their churches. They'd come to my dorm and when I entered the car, they'd make damn sure that a male was sitting between me and ANY white woman. I guess they were affraid, I'd put some African voo doo dust on them or the bone in my nose would stab them in their boobs! LOL!! I NEVER attended those churches and still have a degree of skepticism of white churches. How could they be CHRISTIAN and condone SLAVERY?!

Comment: BigChassie &JffromMo: I just saw an error! I meant to say that it was MARY TYLER MOORE and not Carol Burnett. He played Gordy on the Mary Tyler Moore show, during the last few seasons. My bad.
