Comment: LOL see...that's why this whole American/yt standard of "attending the best universitites" and "having good referecnes" has always been an issue for me....
in his case, "Harvard trained" and co-host on NBC's short-lived "The Other Half" and also hosted the Discovery Health Channel series "Plastic Surgery: Before and After" and appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
reminds me of the consistent "yt rapes, kills or mass murders" mantra after the fact...
"He seemed like such a nice guy...quiet.....good references...."

Comment: It unfortunate Dr. West passed away from this surgery...but we should wait to see what the real outcome will be. People today want things done over night and she was told because of her condition by one doctor to get clinical clear, but she decided to go to another Dr. now she is gone. She had just as much to do with this as the Dr. It's so sad, but things like this happens when you don't do your homework. At 53 I'm proud of what I have, a stomach (not too much) and whatever...still wear a size 12...now at 58 what would make someone want to put their bodies through this major surgery for the sake of trying to please hollywood people. Hopefully, people will start loving themeselves...

The American Media will go after the "Doctor" but Bush get's a free pass everyday.......Now back to trying to bringing the dead back to life. Sorry to interrupt what should be a personal matter between Kanye and his Family.

Comment: Just like the Duke alleged rape case, Jena, TI, etc. I'll wait until all the facts are in. One question I have is whether the patients who sued Dr. Adams did any research on him? Any legal proceedings are public knowledge, so anyone can investigate whether a physician has lawsuits. My godsister died from medical malpractice, and since then I am very selective about choosing doctors.

Comment: Here's what I believe happened. Ms. West went to the first doctor who probably required her to bring all her medical records and after careful evaluation, he determined unless she got clearance from her primary doctor, there was no way he could perform the procedure because the medical risks were far too high. She goes to the second doctor who from the media is reporting was probably strapped for cash and figured, Kanye West's mother, what a good boost for business. So she tells him the other physician wouldn't do it because of her existing health problems but some kind of way this guy convinced her the risks were minimal and did the procedure anyway and as a result, she lost her life. This guy's career is done. I feel both are at fault because she should have taken the first doctor's opinion and that he cared enough to explain the risks not just for her but him too. Just think had the first doctor performed the procedure and the outcome was the same. They'd be slamming him instead of Dr. Adams. Its really sad. Because no matter who is at fault, she's not coming back and sometimes we are so in a rush to get what we want when its not necessarily what we need. Its called consequences.

Surely, Kanye doesn't need his mom's medical information, right down to what happened on that fateful day, being reported like Britney Spear's daily movement. I just not seing the media being respectful but being vultures looking for something to drum up.

there are some who use "Self-responsbility" for a defense in some cases and in other cases "blame" is the defense.....
in this case, while he might be incompetent, etc., he dint darg her into his office.....she made the choice.....
just as in the Juanita Bynum situation, whie her hubby was wrong for his actions, she made certain choices the helped to create the situation she later found herself in.......

Comment: Just like Researchers, doctors have a responsibility under their medical license to uphold good clinical practice guidances and assurances that they have the BEST interests of the patients in mind. Years ago when this craze picked up and we first started hearing rampant reports of deaths and disfigurement from plastic surgery, we were informed as the general public, to do our research, ask questions and to never get cosmetic surgery without ensuring that the physician is BOARD CERTIFIED to perform the procedure. If this information is true about this doc, and his willingness to perform surgery without having her get a complete and thorough physical prior to, then he is just as culpable, if not moreso, in her death as her decision to proceed.
This whole thing reminds me of when Aaliyah died and the media reports from the Bahamian airport, and the general public, tried to blame the victims for their deaths stating that they wanted to keep their luggage with them. Ridiculous. The Pilot, the airline, and the airport workers know good and dam well how much weight a plane can carry, and if they don't they have NO BUSINESS flying planes.
It is a shame that we as the public have to hear so much about her when none of us knows what she was thinking or feeling about any of this regarding her surgery. At the end of the day, its more about our insatiable need to know, anger and fear regarding death than it is about this man losing his mother. His family should be given the respect to mourn in private.

Harvard or not - clearly, this guy is not fit to check my blood pressure. My thought is - why didn't these people check him out before going under the knife???...but then I thought about it and had to check myself. I had a lump removed 10 years ago. I didn't check my doctor out first. Mine wasn't cosmetic, but still that was my bad. Thankfully he was the bomb because I don't even have a scar but I guess the cautionary tale here is to ALWAYS check your doctor out before letting him/her cut into you at all. The lady who wrote "First Wives Club" died after plastic surgery, too. These situations are so sad because the surgery was elective. Very sad. I feel for Kanye. I just lost my uncle Saturday and that hurt so I know he must be devastated.

Comment: Folks want the quick fix. A month in the right facility with support and medical oversight would have started Ms. West on the right track and I do believe that the ultimate weight loss would have been more meaningful if she had gone about it that way.
I've known people who had that gastric bypass surgery. One was constantly sick afterwards and had to quit work. The other looked like a shadow of his former health. I've also seen people lose through proper nutrition/exercise and they look great.
This situation is pitiful because it didn't have to happen.

10 TI CHOOSES to go with his bodyguard to buy guns. Even if it was a government set up, the point at which TI CHOSE to get in the vehicle and said "yes" to the bodyguard, he became responsbile for his own actions and the outcome....
2) The guys in the hotel room has some sheet that belongs to OJ and OJ has the choice to wither call the police or go into the room himself..he CHOOSE to go into the room himself. The outcome as we see it and know it...OJ helped to create that outcome by the choice he CHOOSE to make...
3) Bynum is at a hotel with her husband and they argue...he leaves to go to the parking lot....she CHOOSE to go after him at that point that she makes that choice, she assumes some responsibility in the outcome of her choice....

QUEENIEBUNZ do you get it? do you? Do you?
if not, see that MAtrix where he finally meets the "God figure" in the end he sees all those tv screens in front of him....each screen represents aa different choice and the result of each different choice....
Neo realizes the grand scheme at that point....choice...free will...each result on the screen was a result of what he COULD do and what he could or MIGHT choose..

we wont even get into whether or not Cosmetic Surgery should be sought...
1) Check out the product or service; especially in such a case like this....
2) also to check out one's self to see if you are healthy enough should their be any risk involved,
so now what would YOU CHOOSE to do after you did number 1 and 2 that would indicate that you were a wise person making a wise, smart and informed choice?

It could have been something that happened to Dr. West that no one could have prevented.

Comment: >khufu - I wasn't going to respond anymore but I have to say this. Dr. West decided she wanted the surgery. She probably asked around and was referred to this quack. She was probably told that, "hey, he's been on Oprah, he was on a TV show on NBC, AND he is host of a show about plastic surgery." With that much experience - people who host shows in their field are considered experts. Example - Dr. Gupta writes for Time Magazine and is a medical correspondent for MSNBC. I would consider him an expert if a national magazine and news station feels comfortable going to him on medical issues. Knowing that, this doctor WOULD seem qualified to the point where maybe she didn't see the need to check with the medical board where he practices. A lot of people would come to that conclusion. I say all of that to say - stop blaming her for his incompetence. He is the one who botched the job, not her. If she had a pre-existing condition, it was HIS responsibility as a medical professional to pass on the procedure. Doctors are supposed to be experts, not patients. Even the most informed patient can't know what to do in a situation like that, especially if the doctor tells her it'll be fine. Let it go. You can't blame people when other people do bad things to them. That's like blaming the Central Park Jogger for being raped and beaten within an inch of her life. Sure, it wasn't okay to jog after dark but it SURELY wasn't okay to damned near beat her to death and rape her repeatedly as the man did who was ultimately found to be the culprit. Blame the perpetrator, not the victim!!! You are actually trying to tell us that we should blame women for men who beat them and not the men for raising their fists AND patients who receive botched surgery instead of the quacks who carve them up!!! GTFOH with that!!!!!!!

I agree self-responsibilty is applicable to both. However, I have more sympathy for Dr.West. She was navie and trusted this doctor his motives I feel were purely to put money in his pocket and with all his malpractice suits he has to realize that Plastic Surgery is not something he should be doing. Comment: First and foremost, we need to wait until all of the facts are given. Just because someone has a pre-existing condition doesn't automatically mean that they are not a candidate for elective surgery. Before y'all run this black man out of town, at least wait to see what REALLY happened instead of letting TMZ tell you what happened. All surgeries have risks. If Dr. West was told the risk AND the risk was within acceptable parameters given by the governing authority who sets the limits for such risks, then I would say that this doctor allowed this patient to choose whether or not she wanted to subject herself to such risks. At some point, you gotta let grown folks be grown folks. IF there was a 10% risk of heart attack and the risk was within the parameters acceptable, then just because she happened to fall within that unlucky 10% does not mean the doctor is at fault. Also, just because other doctors passed on the surgery doesn't mean this doctor should've passed. He may have had a different opinion than the previous doctor. Again, let's just wait until the facts come out because there are so many holes in this story being filled in by TMZ. Since her medical records are not public record, no one knows whether or not she received months of testing or no testing. No one knows if an internists gave the ok to this doctor or if he chose not to have her seek an internists. Nothing is known at this point.
