Comment: As one can see this was no sudden departure,although different blogs made it appear that way,some of them reported that it's because she woke up and looked at the character of Kells,if that's true and he was indicted in 2002,why did it take that long?some feel that there are money issues here,who knows?along with the other things R. is dealing with some things may finally be resolved in '08,after that those who feel pro or con about him will have more to discuss in forums like this.

Comment: The man has put out some songs that have entertained us--especially those of us in the black community--and inspired us (I can't tell you how many graduations I went to--kindergarten, eighth grade, etc.--where I Believe...Fly was played--and it never got overdone). Enough, I think, that we can "overlook" his transgressions. Not overlook as in not punish the man legally; but overlook as in forgive...assuming, of course, that our forgiveness is necessary. I'm not condoning what's happened (with the underage thing), but for people to stop buying or listening to his music (at least say they don't--who knows?) I think is going a bit overboard. Sh**, if that was the case, we would have to stop listening to MLK's speeches (the man may not have slept with any underage girls, but from what I understand, he (a married man and man-of-god) got around quite a bit. That's almost as--if not more--worse than what Mr. Kelly is presumed to be guilty of. Denzel has (silently) admitted to cheating on his wife, which would mean no more watching his Oscar performances :( Etc. and so forth.

The fact that you think statutory rape of a child is the same or not as bad as cheating on a spouse with a consenting adult speaks volumes. If R Kelly admitted it, sought help and asked for forgiveness, that would be one thing, but according to him....it ain't him...and if it is him...she ain't a minor. I can't forgive someone who ain't looking for forgiveness and I'm definitely not going to use my hard earned money to help him support his illegal "molestation habit". Sexing a child is illegal and you can't compare that to what 2 consenting adults condone/accept.

He's not public enemy no. 1 in my book. Here in Atlanta, there are far worse things happening to children -- helpless children -- for me to get all up in arms about a child who walked into a situation willingly and told no one after the "deed" was over. The fact that someone had to "find out about the tape" speaks volumes. The girl herself didn't say she was molested. A third party (Sparkle) did. Did the girl know she was being molested, or was she trying to make herself a little change to buy some sneakers? How 'bout the 8 month old who was sexually molested by her mother's boyfriend and is now paralyzed because, according to the molestor, his girlfriend (the baby's mother) cheated on him. The law is the law, however, R is not the poster child for pedophilia in America. There are far more worse offenders than R. Kelly. There are far worse people in the world than R Kelly and those who love his music. We need to let this one go and move on and let the courts handle it. He's selling out hate it or love it. What does it say for black folk? That they do what they wanna do, support who they wanna.

Tell that to a spouse (man or woman) who's been cheated on. I've seen people not come back (not all the way) after suffering through infidelity. But, again, I don't mean to come off as if I condone what R is accused of doing. I really don't. And like someone else mentioned, aren't we all guilty of something? I know his crime (assuming he is the one in the video) is what society has placed at the top of the food chain, so to speak, of unspeakables, but the man is human.
