Comment: You gon' get it now Mr.Brooks!!

Comment: Too bad but I see Dr. Jan's career circling the bowl. Even if he were not charged with kanye's mother's death there is enough information out there already that would stop him from continuing to earn a living as a plastic surgeon.

Name: bigchassie
Comment: MCNASTY>yeah i agree. even if he does get vindicated, no one in his right mind would want to come to him cause he will be tainted for life.

Name: ChocolateBrownGal
Comment: MCNASTY...I don't believe that for one minute that women will stop coming to him. Those that are desperate and w/o funds, someone will be using his services. Even if it means going over seas. Look how many women and men go overseas NOW for procedures and medicines all because the cost is drastically lower. Sad but very true. The prices people pay for beauty and the opportunity to fit in!

Comment: This man couldn't give me free surgery.

Name: McNasty
Comment: ChocolateBrownGal I don't believe his business will be like it was. There will always be women so desperate to change something that they will take a chance. I can't even feel sorry for them when things go wrong because it's the chance they took. After watching plastic surgery gone wrong there is no way in this world or the next that I would alter my natural features. If I had a hair lip I'd simply put a safety pin in it and press on!lol

Comment: Just chiming in.........has anyone mentioned that Dr. West, one week prior to the actual surgery tried other surgeons but they refused to operate on her because of other health issues? Just a thought, if she was advised not to have any procedures done but persisted ($$$$$$$) is it really Dr. Adams that the blame and responsibilty should be placed on???? Just because he's had malpractice suits doesn't mean he was at fault this time. She had a pre-existing conditon and was warned not to have surgery. Many doctors have out of court settlements to patients and we will never hear about them unless there's a similar situation as this, a high profile patient. A penny for your thoughts.............

Comment: pappaswifey> I wholeheartedly agree with you it's just unfortunate that your sentiments are not what anyone wants to hear right now. There are alot of Jan Adams out there "rushing for the buck, not being thorough" -- in all professions until something like this happens. What saddens me is that for all the money Kanye has, his mother could have gone to the most exclusive place in LA == the one linked with the hotel next door that has private rooms and a private entrance and round the clock care. Who goes to a plastic surgeon over a Kinko's? which leads me to believe Kanye had no idea what his mother was doing. I'm not advocating that Jan Adams is innocent, if in fact he literally had nothing to do with her death, his sloppiness with others makes him just as guilty and it's a darn shame that it took this death to get the medical profession to deal with him.

Comment: ChocolateBrownGal> you're right...we still never really got an answer as to what and why Coretta Scott King was doing in Mexico when she died.

Name: MOTHERSHIP
Comment: They are both at fault. The doctor, because if he was a REAL doctor, he would not have performed the surgery, period. She's at fault because she didn't heed or listen to the first doctor's warnings, Kanye been told his moms nothing was wrong with her and she's beautiful just as she is. He didn't know about her running around from doctor to doctor and that's what made his devastation and grief even worse. He was blindsided. It's sad that the same love of self and esteem she instilled in Kanye, she didn't have for herself.

Comment: I agree and furthermore if you don't like the way you look work out. it is not worth your life to look lighter weigh less or have bigger breasts. Love yourself. The rest will come.

Name: pappaswifey
Comment: >MOTHERSHIP I wonder if she even gave a honest report to Dr. Adams? She could have and he didn't heed. She could have but, gave him such a bonus that the concerns didn't matter to him......... who knows, because like Teigh says cosmetic surgeons are all about "rushing the buck". Sad Sad Sad!My feelings in general are, if someone wants to make some cosmetic changes to themself, go for it. Please make sure you do extensive research about yourself and any pre-existing conditions, take heed to your doctors advice, get a second opinion even , check the history of the doctor and staff, the facility and with ALL THAT MONEY don't go to the strip mall for Christ's sake! Life is too precious to lose. Always remember someone loves you. Wishing you peace.

Comment: One point folks seem to gloss over is the fact that the primary surgery appears to have ben breast reduction, a surgery that is not necessarily aesthetic-driven. Over-endowed women I know have often complained that the neck, shoulder and back pain caused by large breasts is real and chronic. Who can blame her for wanting to free herself of that kind of pain? Now the tummy tuck, that's another matter altogether . . . I'm certainly not an apologist for the doctor, but as yet no one even knows whether Dr. West's death is attributable to him. The malpractice complaints and disciplinary action are absolutely relevant, but the gory details of his divorce? BTW, I just read that Dr. Rey on "Dr. 90210" is apparently not board certified in plastic surgery either.

Name: Teigh
Comment: Honestly I think we'd all be surprised to learn how many doctors are bord eligible and not board certified. I also got an eye opener when I started checking out where the doctors I was considering visiting went to school.

Comment: pappaswifey - In this day of technology all consumers should take the time to investigate physicians, vendors, etc. The internet provides so much information. Any legal or court proceeding is public knowledge, so we can run searches to investigate whether a doctor has been sued, been convicted, or paid settlements. Dr. West's death makes this point more plain: do your research before selecting a doctor. Also, get second and third opinions.

Comment: My godsister died from medical malpractice. She was operated on by a quack who had previous lawsuits and had a terrible reputation amongst the doctors and nurses at the hospital. Unfortunately, she didn't know or think about checking out his background.
