Comment: Does this mean they were compensating her loss of salary?, just asking cause I had to read it twice, who pays the legal fees while she gets her money faster?.... I guess it's the fans. Isiah, you should've been nicer to her, the way your "coaching" is going, you're gonna need a friend with some cash!

Name: Harleyquinn
Comment: LOL nightshift!!!!! Looks like things are not going well in Isiah's life right now. I'm happy for Mrs. Sanders! You go girl!!!!!

Name: fanteeking
Comment: Was it ever confirmed that Isiah said it was allright for a Black man to call a Black woman a b@tch? There was a video taped statement then a retraction. Was this ever cleared up to the satisfaction of Black women. What say ye Black women on this board?

Name: TGen
Comment: Fanteeking, Isaiah didn't say it was alright for a Black man to call a Black woman the b-word; he said he would get more angry if a White man called a Black woman the b-word. The controversy came about because of the implication that somehow a White man using the term toward a Black woman was less offensive than a Black man doing the same...which is silly because it seems Black men would be held to higher standard when it comes to their own (Black women). Isaiah, in his denials, refused to see that point, along with some other misguided individuals. But oh well, later for him, I doubt after this season, he'll be in the spotlight for a long, long time to come. Po thang (not really)...

Comment: in a culture where some AA women (by extension, all) are routinely denigrated with nasty names by some AA men, IT's comment about being upset if a YT man does the same thing is hypocrisy . . . the bigger question for me is whether IT and/or other like-thinking AA men understand that their negative words have power (much more power than their positive words) inside and outside of the AA community

Name: gingerg
Comment: Yippee!! Isaiah can stay in denial for the rest of his life if he wants to, a sister got paid and rightfully so. Who is the bich now?

Name: FiveMore
Comment: And, that is main reason the Knicks are 11.5 million dollars lighter because of Isaiah's unashamed ignorance. This is what he/Knicks get(s) for being so stupid!

Name: gingerg
Comment: No, it wasn't cleared up and it isn't alright with me.

Comment: Nightshift, compensatory damages are damages to compensate a victim for "actual loss." Punitive damages are damages that are not tied to any actual loss but can be awarded in certain claims where there was some egregious or overtly intentional wrongs. Punitive damages are meant to punish and/or deter that defendant from doing those acts again. In the first phase of her trial, Anucha Browne Sanders received a jury verdict for punitive damages of $11.6 million. If I recall, the jury couldn't make up its mind as to compensatory damages. They were about to begin the compensatory damages phase before they settled. She sued under Federal sexual discrimination statutes. Those statutes allow the plaintiff to recover her attorney's fees if she prevails at trial. Her jury verdict of $11.6 million was just her damages. If the case had gone forward, her attorneys would have (at the end) filed a motion to recover their attorney's fees... a sum that could have been in the millions. So with the settlement everyone gets closure. She and her lawyers get paid now. MSG won't have to pay additional attorney's fees (outside of whatever will go to Ms. Sanders' attorneys out of the $11.6 million damage award).

Comment: Oh boo-hoo the bytch is short changed 100,000...wait till she see how much the IRS gonna snatch from her azz...

Name: PBF_19
Comment: Isiah sucks as a coach and he did on tape make the statement that a white man calling a black woman a B.itch is more offensive then a black man calling a black woman a B.itch. Anuncha won the case because of the fact that the owner of the knicks refused to appear in court and took the situation lightly. Good for her!

Name: khufu
Comment: I can hear it now "She didnt really win the case...she asked for 1,000,000 but she only got 999,999.99..."

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: Of course there's a difference. We live in a world of double-standards. Is there a difference between a woman calling another woman a bytch and a man saying such? Of course it is. Does it make it right. No it doesn't. But there is a difference.

Name: HarrisThomas
Comment: musb>> agreed, there is so much hypocrisy/double standard approach to the name-calling . . . it is not acceptable behavior for women or men and it's not OK no matter who does it . . . a big pay out for creating a hostile workplace does not really change attitudes, the mean-minded people just switch forum and use other avenues to vent hostility: like the mom who went after a teen on the internet and the teen committed suicide because she could not handle the abuse which was thought to be from a school mate

Name: mayday
Comment: Go girl.....good for her.

Name: Train
Comment: She's not exactly an attractive sistah. Hell, I'm just being real so let's cut through the b.s. If she's worth 11 million then pretty sistahs like Angels B%*$ett, Gabrille Union, Jada Pinkett and Meghan Good gotta be worth 50-60 million, at least.

Name: GHank
Comment: Someone comment earlier that her name (Anucha) sounds like a name you would name your soul food resturant after. "Quote"...."Let's go down to Anucha's for some collard greens and catfish"...(LOL!)

Name: fanteeking
Comment: Anucha is a very popular Nigerian name of the Igbo people of eastern Nigeria. She looks Igbo. So what if she doesn't look like Haile Berry or Vanessa Williams! SOME of us Black folks are soooooooo gullible that we have to wait on Madison Avenue, Ebony and Vogue magazine who's pretty and who's not. SOME of us are soooooo weak minded!!!! She favors my paternal great grandmother as a young girl and she's BEAUTIFUL to me. I ain't gonna give yt the power to manipulate my criteria of beauty!! Case closed!

Name: MetroScribe
Comment: Co-sign fanteeking. I saw Ms. Saunders interviewed by Robin Roberts on GMA and she IS attractive. But of course, how someone LOOKS has no bearing on sexual harrassment. I hear so often "but he can have any woman he wanted to--why mess with her" sentiments, which is painfully stupid. Women don't want to deal with trifling idiots and their issues; women want to get their work done and bounce. But acts of sexual harrassment happen when someone higher ranking wants to show their @$$ and how much more power they have. MSG just got $11.5 million lesson on the hazards of coddling stupid people and their stupid s---. Let's see if the lessons will stick...

Name: gingerg
Comment: See there, Train. That is one of the common misconceptions about sexual harassment. It is about power, control, demeaning and disrespecting. On top of that, most of the people who engage in this type of behavior probably aren't shet in the bedroom anyway. If they were, why would they have to proposition people who don't want to be bothered?

Name: gingerg
Comment: My maternal grandmother is in her late 80's and she cusses like a sailor for some reason. Anyway, she once told a story about a man propositioning her. She not so politely told him that she didn't recall "advertising her azz" so he needed to look elsewhere.

Name: fanteeking
Comment: MetroScribe: We put "beauty premiums" on folks who don't even look like us. 99.999% of Black womoen I know DO NOT look like Halle Berry and Vanessa Williams. Those type of African-Americans are sadly the descendants of "slavery days rape" and SOME of us African-Americans are proud of that fact and will boast to the high heavens. These are rape descandants---products of power and not love. Compare: A True story. After, the Ethiopians(now Eritreans) drove out the invading Italians in the late 1930's,the Italian solidiers had raped many Ethiopian women and left mixed-caste offsprings called "KUT-LISS" or "DUG-A-LAH". They were shamed by the Ethiopians as being a symbol of their weakness and lack of racial pride. When the Italians left, the elders of the village went to ALMOST every house in Eritrea and bashed the KUTLISS babies heads against the rocks and killed them. They were so ashamed of this Italian blood polluting Ethiopian blood. My friend Mahari M. who was Kutliss was taken in the house and had a burlap sack put on his head to fool the elders and he was spared. The proud ETHIOPIANS despised this rape of power and SOME of us African-Americans champion it. I think the Elders should have been destroyed but that was their history. Are we enamored of european blood and despise African blood?!!!

Name: gingerg
Comment: I don't want to start nothing, but both Vanessa Williams' are beautiful sisters, but which one do WE consider most attractive. Sometimes, we need to check ourselves before we start pointing the fingers at others.

Name: fanteeking
Comment: I too believe that they are beautiful too, but I just want to identify a certain "mind set" or perception in Africa-America that would encourage some to say that this lady is un-attractive inferring that she does not adhere to european standards of beauty. Am i wrong to point out a stark fact in Africa-America?

Name: duckapoo
Comment: Go on Anucha! Take that money. You deserve it.

Name: TesticAl
Comment: duckapoo, she deserves it? Hell nah. She should get some compensation, but not 11 mil. That's outlandish.

Name: Gurlfrand
Comment: >Train - it has nothing to do with how attractive or unattractive she is - are you saying you could understand it more if she were more attractive? I don't see that reasoning - what if this woman had been the same as Anucha but only white - and Isiah called her that - he would be out of a job if this woman had won - MSG would have gotten rid of him before it went to trial....

Name: khufu
Comment: TRAIN has identity issues

Name: SouthernYankee
Comment: I hope she takes some of that money and changes that awful name.

Name: BKLYNVIAMAHATTAN
Comment: I'm happy for her. Isiah is a very nasty person. It's one thing when Women have jealousy fits, but he is worse than a Woman, He is a Loser, I don't care what he did for Basketball on his Detroit team. How he tried to ban Michael Jordan and how he talked about Magic during his outspoken acknowledgment about what he was facing (Aid's) is what turned alot of people off early. He is nothing but a jealous, evil and resentful little man. That is suffering with Napoleon syndrome. (mine, mine, mine).
