Comment: I wondered what happened to Jeanette, she was moved to the touring company to make way for Fantasia in NY. Today's NY Post is reporting that Fantasia has missed at least 40 performances and as most know her run is almost up. The complaint is that lately she hasn't been showing up and folks have been disappointed -- Purple's audience is mostly bused in from out of town. Many wanting to see Fantasia. When a headliner isn't appearing, you have an option of requesting a refund. I've seen LaChanze in the lead and I've seen Fantasia in the lead. It is a grueling part and I have to say -- Fantasia's energy is phenominal. There has been no announcement on who will replace her in January.

Comment: Speaking of The Color Purple, reports have surfaced that Fantasia is calling off sick too much. She better straighten up.

Comment: I read the book and I love the movie. I was skeptical about the play, not sure how they would tackle it. But, I saw it in San Francisco (front row). It was phenomenal. Jeanette was wonderful (that girl can sang), and Latoya was great too. The whole cast. They put their own spin on it. The African dance scene was the bomb. If you get a chance, go see it. I recommend it highly. You will NOT be disappointed.

I read in the playbill that Chaka khan & Be-Be Winans will be playin Sophia & Harpo in Chi-town. Starting in January. All eyes know is they better come wit it. Cause ain't no have steppers up in that play at all.
