Comment: Uh, I disagee with "screw the comment"; we have to attack and speak out on EVERY single instance of other groups attempting to run Black folk further into the ground. A lot of blacks think stuff like this is innocuous and should be poo poo'ed. But we can't afford this. We have come some distance, but there are still plenty of miles left to go and all of these slights have the impact of further diminishing our progress.

Anyone with half a brain could see the context it was in. lol And there is no uproar Eurweb, only apparently from this Earl Ofari Hutchinson guy who has proven he deserves little credibility just based on some of his recent asinine articles. *Non-story alert* P.S. I wish Bobby "Turncoat" Petrino all the karma he deserves, a lying snake for sure. I digress...

I agree 100% with this comment. Here we go, folks worried about what is said about black folk. When are we going to realize that people say what they want to say here in America and
that doesn't change anything. Isn't Imus back on the air?
Rather than worry about what other races say, we should become more concerned with ourselves and how we treat each other.

As long as A Blank owns the Falcons I WILL NOT BE ATTENDING THE FALCON GAMES or buying products from a home depot store. I do not want an apology. My concern: I WILL BE VOTING FOR Sen. OBAMA.

Comment: It really does not matter if Blank apologizes are not, because the magority of the country feels the same way he does.I don't see any Asian or Indian Americans(other ethnic"minorities") being attacked in the press/courts/radio on a daily basis.Where are those people that claimed to have a connection to African Americans(remember when the Latina producer wrote in to complain about two comments)?Well, has she said anything in support of the community lately? This is just the beginning of sorrows you guys...uhmmm, there is so much more blatant mess to come.Watch and See!Doesn't this story look familiar?FIRST, We read and complain, boycott, and march.Second, the perpretrator issues an apology(phony) and meets with a "leader".Lastly, Somebody else does the same thing the next week(attacks a black person), and the cycle repeats itself. The wonderful life of Blacks in America.hmmmmmm

I believe his point was that he hopes he doesn't start eating the wrong things so that he CAN come back. At any rate, how would that have affected you if the football player was white? Wold you then believe it was a reference to eat nutritionally?

This is why y'all are so upset? Cuz somebody said we like fried chicken? Umm, I hate to break this to y'all. For some of you it might be like the time you found out Santa Claus wasn't real, but BLACK PEOPLE LIKE FRIED CHICKEN. NO, BLACK PEOPLE LOVE FRIED CHICKEN. Comment: And for all y'all who want to reference history as a reason for being upset about this, take a pause. The issue with the caricatures and depictions of black people as lazy, watermelon, fried-chicken eating bums was not with the food. At issue was the fact that they wanted to convince people that that's all we were. Black people need to learn to pick their battles because we make ourselves look like fools when we're ready to go to war over molehills we make into mountains. There are serious issues plaguing black communities the world over. The world knowing we like fried chicken is not one of them. I think that secret's already out.

Comment: There's a problem with everything he said! First regardless of whether its federal or state you don't get a lot of fried chicken or french fries in prison. While they have things in the commissary black white or other you can't get fried chicken. Secondly, not every black person eats chicken and french fries or chicken or french fries. Black folk eat so many different things that it is nothing but a racial slur to say otherwise. What is really disconcerting is that every fast food franchise that sells chicken has a commercial featuring white folks but still they act as if they don't eat chicken. We know they eat french fries cause that's what their bone thin emaciated wives and daughters are throwing up!!

Many people complained that there was not any fried chicken or ribs. So, why attack something that has truth to it? Instead we should be asking people to make better food choices, then there would,nt be so much diabetes, obesity and cancer among A.A,s.

My only point was everybody in the South eats fried chicken (black, white, asian, mexican, etc.)....well, practically anything fried, so to say he said fried chicken because MV is black is not that clear and not worth a march. This man was pushing around his freaking wheelchair when he was out the other season? This man KNOWS Vick. He KNOWS what he likes. Has ANY DAMN BODY stopped to consider that he said this out of knowing what the heck this man likes to eat???? Maybe, just maybe, it wasn't about a stereotype? Comment: McNasty - No need for me to grow up. I was just making a point. You're right. No where did you say all black folks have relatives in prison and, of course, you meant that everybody (black, white, asian and mexican) has some relatives in prison....just like no where did Blank say all black folks like fried chicken. I intentionally made that assumption to show how folks were jumping to the conclusion about what he meant. You and others assumed Blank was being stereotypical because he mentioned a black man and fried chicken in the same sentence.

I don't know the origin of the fried chicken = black stereotype, but I think this is probably more self-imposed, than imposed by others races. Even if I'm incorrect about this, it is certainly a stereotype that WE tend to perpetuate amongst ourselves as being the only people on the planet eating fried chicken. So far, no coverage of this story in the local newspaper, even by black sports journalists.

Comment: You know the black people that said that they didn't think it was a racist remark by the owner of the Falcons has got to be kidding. Anytime a white person has said things that are ignorant like that remark are racist. Anytime they have to mention fried chicken when talking about a black person let alone it being a black man tells you right there that he is racist. Racism is still at a all time high, but white people who say stupid stuff like that need to be told that he is racist and that the comment he made was a racist remark and that he meant it. Because if he didn't those words would have never came out of his mouth. I don't care if he was trying to be funny or not, that should have never came out of his mouth. Yes, people of all races like fried chicken, but that is not the only thing that black people eat. We eat a variety of things. I know black people who don't like chicken at all so what does that tell you. I don't know whether I agree that he should apologize to Michael Vick, when we all know what that the owner meant what he said. Yes he should be called on for what he said but face it even if he apologize, we all know that it won't be a real apology. No one should get away with racist remarks, I don't care what race you are. We have to live on this earth together and we might as well try to get along or find an island that doesn't have any other human beings on it and be happy because we are all here to stay until God takes us away. As far as a black coach being hired, so what! he deserves to be a head coach just like any other person and his color should not matter. The man himself as a person should be good enough.

Comment: Larmon- let me get this straight. So you're telling us that fried chicken = black people and black people automatically means fried chicken? Even if my white co-worker, who knows I love fried chicken, sees me eating fried chicken every other day, should never, ever mention my name and fried chicken in the same sentence? Second question, in the context in which the coach was talking what would be the point of making a racist comment towards Vick when he actually seems open to the idea of bringing him back?
