Comment: Wait a minute. Who are those men from CB(?) who "bought" the property?? Are they the rel estate brokers? I hope so. Because if he gets tied up with some other folks they may try to jack with his money. Other than that, as a 50+ year old Black lady, I AM SO PROUD of J-Z!! I remember when we weren't even "allowed" in places like that.

Comment: Jay-Z and Partners. This brother did not throw down 66 mill on his own.
and no I am not hating. I just wish the Hip-Hop generation would understand Jay is not the first blackman to invest his money.
-----------
Jay-Z partners Charles Blaichman of CB Developers and Abram Shnay, along with son Scott Shnay, of SK Development Group in two separate transactions – the acquisition of the base site for $51 million, followed by the acquisition of the air rights for $15.4 million, totaling $66.4 million.

Comment: I'm no hater. I give props when it's due and clown you when it's due. But, this move by this brother warrants respect. Hats off to you Jay!!! I even got a name for your new venture. How about Roc-A- Ho? This is what you get when you combine Roca-A-Wear with hotel. Roc-A-Ho LOL.

Comment: Jay has always been the man, along with Diddy, of course. He should use CARTER as his hotel name, which is my humble opinion. DCGG> Back away from the bottle! You are one angry, bitter individual. I'm sure you would call it being real, I would call it sad.

Comment: >212121, The man sold Roc-a-wear for $240 million less than a year ago. If he wanted to scratch a check for 66 million, do you think he would have a problem doing it?

Comment: I am proud of this man as if he was my own flesh and blood. He is truly becoming an ebony moniker for success. No he isn't the only black man to invest, but few come from where he did to rise as hi as he has risen at least in a while.

Comment: J is a smart business man and he'll do very well in this venture. However, I've found that Jersey is the place to stay when you are visiting New York. Those Times Square hotels have gotten enough of my money over the years.

Comment: THE BLACK YOUTH NEED YOU MORE JAY-Z. Next, I hope that he will invest in the youth as he has in his restaurant, arenas, etc. The BLACK YOUTH ARE SUFFERING DAILY, and while it is great for a brotha to own businesses and make moves, THE BLACK YOUTH are being forgotten about. They need Jay-Z waaaayyyy more that someone needing a hotel for a night. My son asked me the other day "Mom, I see so many black people today who are rich and famous, how come they don't help......". I live in Los Angeles and Jay-Z was here last month at the House of Blues for $150 per ticket. Although white kids buy a lot of his music, there are black kids who would have LOVED to see him, but for $150??? Come on. How 'bout "Jay-Z opens a string of community centers in an effort to....or "Jay-Z opens Job training facilities"....or "Jay-Z opens music centers geared towards getting kids interested in playing musical instruments.... ANYTHING to help the black youth get off the streets. I'm not hating you guys, I'm just like damn; time is running out!!!!

Comment: Call this hating if you want....here goes:
I'm sick and tired of all thse folks who, after making it huge in their respective industries, keep getting involved in these ostenstateous and rather unecessary business ventures, while giving only token service to help resolve the human condition around them. Whatever happened to the thought of contributing something to help the plight of black and other non well-to-do people in THIS country? What's wrong with directing some funding toward things such as clothing and supplies for poor children? What about scholarships to help those who want to further their education, but do not have the resources to finance their dreams. What about investing in better healthcare, better and affordable living conditions, drug and gang intervention to help people move away from the pitfalls of violence and/or addiction? Just think of how much $66 million dollars can go, if people like Jay and his ilk, really gave a damn about bettering the social conditions of this new millenium. What good is a ridiculously priced hotel in Manhattan, if in all likelihood, those who enabled Mr. Carter to obtain the means to afford it, will never be able to stay in it themselves. Giving away free turkeys and a few sneakers or concert tickets during the holidays seems IMHO, rather lame attempts at redemption. Some folks really do seem to forget where they came from.
That is all!

Comment: *kicks the soap box from under jalvin's feet* There's always got to be at least one who can not see the big picture. Jay's business ventures create JOBS. The best way to help the community and those in need is to give the means to PROVIDE FOR THEMSELVES. And who's to say he doesn't offer scholarships or things of that nature. This article is about this one particular venture. It's not his life story that lists all his accomplishments and good deeds. **steps off my own soap box**
