Comment: WOW, I have to admit, I was hoping that she wouldn't have to go to jail. Yeah, yeah, I know she lied, but many have done worse and were able to avoid jail. Maybe she won't have to do the full 6 months.

Comment: Let me get this straight, she lies (repeatedly) a now she wants to be cut some slack? That's the chance she took when she was getting her "rub on" with that "flaxseed". It was a crap shoot that she lost on. She should be glad that she'll be going to a Federal prison AKA: club fed. P.S. I still don't feel sorry for her.

Comment: I saw this on Oprah yesterday. Oprah treated Marion like crap. Oprah must have repeated to Marion that she is going to jail 20 times at least. Marion was being respectful to Oprah calling her "Ma'am". Oprah got defensive and told her "you don't have to call me "Ma'am" OK? Ma'am!" This went on and back and fourth over and over until Oprah got snippy with Marion. It was uncalled for on Oprah's part when the girl was just being respectful as she was probably raised to do. I give Oprah an "F" for this interview. She did not have to talk to this young lady like she did. I think Oprah continues to treat her own differently when we stumble or fall while continuing to suck up to the celebs and other guests.

Comment: >TMan: I disagree. Oprah has been unkind to all her trifling guests, black or white. Remember James Frey? He lied about his book, and O ripped that white man a new one!

Comment: my thoughts on this subject: Marion got her butt in this mess and i have no sympathy for her and the rest that got caught. the woman is talented and she did not need to do this. dont bring the kids in your mess cause you were not thinking of them when you were out here doing your thing. 2. I like oprah but she does have the attitude that if you are not on my level then "F" she will help and is charitable but i have always had the feeling that if its not what she wants then you can kiss her azz. i just pray nothing ever comes out on her because folks are gonna line up and give her the business.

Comment: I dig O but agree with TMan. O I believe has higher expectations for black folks and especially for the accomplished ones - that may have been why she was so rude. For my money, O should have left MJ alone and let her go and do her six months and then begin to blend back into society.

Comment: Question: if O had the chance to interview R Kelly, how she she treat him?
Should criminals be treated any differently than anyone else?
Is Marion really a criminal or just someone who made a silly mistake?

Comment: I understand Oprah's anger. Marion told bold faced lie after bold faced lie to many, many people - FOR YEARS. If she knew she was lying she either: A. should not have agreed to interviews to risk the questions being asked or B. said "no comment". But to outright was wrong and disrespectful of the law and of her fans (I'm sure of whom Oprah was one at some point).

Comment: I will say this - I don't think Martha Stewart, Lil Kim or Marion Jones should've gotten/should get jail time for lying. Probation/community service where they go tell little kids lying is bad - yeah, do that. But for us to pay our tax money for them to take a little break from their world? Nah. Let them give back. As someone said - club fed or whatever. Why even do that? M Jones will be doing almost as much time as that chick who killed her hubby w/a shotgun - she got 8 or 9 months for MURDER. WTF??? I will say this - all three of these women should be used by parents e'rywhere that LYING IS BAD...But again, that's JMHO...

Comment: We can't base EVERTHING on the sentence that the preacher's wife (PW) got! To be honest, I think that there is something that happened behind the scenes in the PW situation. Not her race, but something mighty freaky he might've done to her to drive her to kill him.

Comment: Most people who habitually lie know what they are doing and then make pathetic excuses for it. Let Marion's azz go to jail.

Comment: Everyone has good points, I did not see the interview, but Oprah tends to do that really alot to her own people, she has her favorites, but what Marion did was wrong, but she like some of us she got cuaght up in something that she felt she could not get out of, whether we are lying to protect someone, or we just made a mistake... I am not going to pass judgment on Marion because I think she is really repentent for her actions, but back to Okra, no she would not be nice to R Kelly, she has been molested before, so he would probably have a matching new set of a holes when Oprah got through with him...Remember Toni Braxton???

You are right regarding this comment, but Okra lost me, on her continula degardation of black men..she has deep issues and like a poster said, I hope she reall does not have anything on her, becuase white folks will stand in a line to crucify her, even though they love her so much(OJ Simpson)I really hope she is squeaky clean!!!

Comment: Oprah, should just shut her face. Who gave her the right to judge people. What about her? "Oprah, why won't you marry Stedman?" Truth:Because she's not willing to part with any of her money, but will instead leave it to her dogs." "Oprah, why do you profess to be a Christian, when you are shacking up, with in-house booty?" "We're spiritual partners...that's a crock! Different response, when it applies to "O". Marion Jones should have never agreed to the interview!

Comment: Y'all are trippin! I just watched the interview and I was expecting Oprah to jump all over the girl. NOT! It didn't even come CLOSE to the way she handed James Frey his azz on a platter. At the end, Marion said she looked forward to sitting down with Oprah after she gets out of jail to do an extensive interview, so I'm not quite sure where folks thought she was aggravated by the interview. Her questions allowed Marion to tell her thoughts. She really just asked her how she felt when she had to watch the tape of her confessing and what was going through her head when she repeatedly denied the allegations. No tough questions at all.

Comment: so...let me get this straight. women are going to jail for lying?
what about we put men in jail for lying? starting with good ole bush. patriot act notwithstanding, americans-all colors- spend a lot of time majoring in minor things.
oprah has freely admitted that she has had lifelong issues with her blackness. why would she treat any person that reflects back her despised image any better? if she liked black women and herself she could mount a major campaign against the depictions of black women; daily and effect change. she would insure that there was healing focused conversation between black men and women, instead of her divisive practices. she is the same one that did the klan piece back in the day and refused "militant" blacks participation. she has never been pro-black and only hope and immense optimism would lead anyone to believe that one day she will wake up and be responsibly conscious.
may ms jones work it out...i am thankful my mistakes are not broadcast for the world to see. those in black skin that don't feel any compassion for her and her children- must be little mistake-free angels. it must be nice...
