Comment: Keep it up Bill and Hillary Clinton. The World is getting a taste of Bill and Hill's taste for power. It is okay to want your wife to win but to Lie to get it? Bill once accused the Repub's of playing dirty against them. Now we see that Bill has learned well. Have fun hanging out with Bush Sr....Bill.

Comment: Too many games and diry tricks in politics. This turns people off. This is why I'm registered but don't vote! (in presidential elections)

Name: soulmusic101
Comment: Don't let HRC stop you from voting for Obama. If HRC get's the nominee, I will probably go with Bloomberg, if he run's. Still hoping that Obama can stop slick HRC. Still early and Obama has more Delegates, which is a good thing.

Name: ChocolateBrownGa1
Comment: soulmusic> i was leaning towards HRC early on. Once she pulled Bill out and allowed him to start bashing Obama, I was through. I washed my hands of the whole process. Maybe I'll go 3rd party too.

Comment: Reverend Calvin Butts of Harlem's Abyssinia Baptist Church is backing BIlliary! I wuz so shocked, because I always regarded him as a man of the people. I figured Ole Unka Tom Charlie Rangel would back the "establishment's Billiary". Remember he became SO ANGERED when Venezuela's BRILLIANT and FEARLESS Hugo Chavez called Bush the devil at the U N last year. "El diablo estuvo acqui, yo huelo el fosforo!" The devil was here because I can smell the phosphorus!" I hope after this election is over that all of these "so-called Black Leaders" who support Billiary are put out to pasture!!!

Name: fanteeking
Comment: SoulMusic101 & Chocolate: I'm just as angry as yaw is, but if we don't vote OR vote for Bloomberg won't we be voting for whoever wins that racist, rightwinged, republican ticket? Can't we just hold or noses as we enter the polling booth to vote for the democrat. Maybe, we can call our adventure and concoct a reality TV series called, "The Search for the lesser of two EVILS". LOL!

Comment: I can't take the whining cuz everybody in it knows how grimy it is. One thing these politicians better know is that they better give people a reason to vote and nasty, whiny politics as usual will turn off many voters. The last thing we need is voter apathy. This is too important for politics as usual. Do y'all know that the next president will probably get to choose three Supreme Court justices? This is some serious bizness so cut out the crap and stick to the issues. Quit whining and use that energy to get your candidate elected.

Comment: I kinda knew Hilary would win Nevada. The latino folks love them some Hilary and she connects with the women, she’s their leader. Its all good though. I’m pretty sure Obama has South Carolina on lock.

Name: MsBlake
Comment: Stepping aside from the Hilary thing for a minute, has anyone noticed how quiet the rappers are? There’s Russel Simmons of course but he’s not a rapper per se. The attention seeking Sean ‘vote or die’ Combs is nowhere to be found. I guess in his defence he’s busy on his MTV show, gotta raise the dough for child support somehow!!. I mean rappers are always talking about how ‘things are so hard in the hood’. You’d think they’d use this opportunity to draw attention to problems facing the community. If Tupac was alive I’m sure he’d have gotten involved (sigh).

Name: MsBlake
Comment: I have singled out rappers because they’re the ones usually complaining about the hardship. I mean imagine what they’ll do for the youth vote!!!. It would be cool if folks like Common, Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, heck even ‘street disciple’ Nas since he’s intent on being ‘political’. Maybe I’m asking for too much, maybe I’d see Barack, Michelle and Oprah doing the ‘soulja boy dance’ on stage before I see a bunch of rappers get involved in the political process.

Comment: nah I dont expect any of the rappers to be REALLY outspoken....they gettin' paid....what political consciousness do they REALLY have? Then there are those like Chucj D. who probably support Obama but he doesnt have access to "the mic" so we dont know what he thinks ot what he is doing....

Name: FiveMore
Comment: Ms.Blake, The rappers are scared of Hilliary Clinton and Crew.IMO, I'm pretty sure the(democractic party, who neglects blacks all year long) has threatened the "vote or die " creator Sean Combs along time ago, because you see he has not made one sound. Rappers (some not all)can not be trusted because they will not speak out for nothing(if they are not getting paid)Look how they played David Banner.Yeah, Politrix is a shady game.Oh, I still aint voting for the scheme team, so they can hang it up!

Comment: It hurts me deeply to see us Black Folk so divided on the Hillary vs Barack issue. To see people like Magic Johnson, Bob Johnson and other Blacks backing Hillary hurts beyond words. For once, we have a Black, intelligent and viable candidate for president, but instead of making history and providing our kids and grandkids with something to aspire to, we choose to turn our backs and put the Hillary/Bill team back in the White House. It's almost sinful. On MLK Jr.'s Birthday, lets' all honor his dream and vote Obama in. Let's not loose this one chance we have. Give him and Michelle a chance to prove that we are indeed equal and equipped to do the job.

Comment: to all the Black leaders who arent supporting Obama...and those who are going an extra step further by particpating in the attacks against him....and to all thse who really truly supporting Hillary, not because she is better or more qualified, but because of political loyalty to the Clinton's consider... "We all shake our heads in disbelief when we think about the well-known story of Esau selling his birthright for a measly bowl of lentil stew. How could he do such a thing?"

Name: professo285
Comment: What is ironic about this story is, I have not heard or read it anywhere else but on EUR. This shows us how the media will play a part in swaying votes. Also, who’s to say that the people in South Carolina won’t pull the same stunts? Personally, I say, let Clinton have Navata. South Carolina is where it’s at and if Obama doesn’t get the support of the black vote, he’s in trouble anyways. He’d better go and get Lil John, Chris Brown, or somebody to get the young black vote. It is amazing how these politicians will talk about each other, slang mud, etc but when it is all over, they come together. Perhaps then it will be too late? Of course, to vote Republican in the final election, knowing that you are a Democrat is crazy and makes no sense at all.

Comment: Doesn't much matter. Hillary will win the whole thing. Obama can get a victory or two in caucuses because in those instances you have to publicly reveal yourself. But in primaries, white guilt may cause you ("you" being a white person) to say to a pollster that you support Obama, but behind closed curtains, white pride will nudge you to pull the lever for Clinton. So for Obama to actually win a primary, he'd have to have a 15-20 point lead to overcome that white-pride-behind-the-closed-curtain effect. Welcome to America, MLK Day, 2008.

Comment: here this is about Yt's whether Democratic or Republican.... The Scorpion and the Frog One day, a scorpion looked around at the mountain where he lived and decided that he wanted a change. So he set out on a journey through the forests and hills. He climbed over rocks and under vines and kept going until he reached a river. The river was wide and swift, and the scorpion stopped to reconsider the situation. He couldn't see any way across. So he ran upriver and then checked downriver, all the while thinking that he might have to turn back. Suddenly, he saw a frog sitting in the rushes by the bank of the stream on the other side of the river. He decided to ask the frog for help getting across the stream. "Hellooo Mr. Frog!" called the scorpion across the water, "Would you be so kind as to give me a ride on your back across the river?" "Well now, Mr. Scorpion! How do I know that if I try to help you, you wont try to kill me?" asked the frog hesitantly. "Because," the scorpion replied, "If I try to kill you, then I would die too, for you see I cannot swim!" Now this seemed to make sense to the frog. But he asked. "What about when I get close to the bank? You could still try to kill me and get back to the shore!" "This is true," agreed the scorpion, "But then I wouldn't be able to get to the other side of the river!" "Alright then...how do I know you wont just wait till we get to the other side and THEN kill me?" said the frog. "Ahh...," crooned the scorpion, "Because you see, once you've taken me to the other side of this river, I will be so grateful for your help, that it would hardly be fair to reward you with death, now would it?!" So the frog agreed to take the scorpion across the river. He swam over to the bank and settled himself near the mud to pick up his passenger. The scorpion crawled onto the frog's back, his sharp claws prickling into the frog's soft hide, and the frog slid into the river. The muddy water swirled around them, but the frog stayed near the surface so the scorpion would not drown. He kicked strongly through the first half of the stream, his flippers paddling wildly against the current. Halfway across the river, the frog suddenly felt a sharp sting in his back and, out of the corner of his eye, saw the scorpion remove his stinger from the frog's back. A deadening numbness began to creep into his limbs. "You fool!" croaked the frog, "Now we shall both die! Why on earth did you do that?" The scorpion shrugged, and did a little jig on the drownings frog's back. "I could not help myself. It is my nature." Then they both sank into the muddy waters of the swiftly flowing river.

Comment: Having a serious black presidential candidate was the kind of thing reserved for stand up comedians on Def Comedy Jam. So many black leaders did not see Obama coming, hence why they've stuck to Clinton cos he was the next best thing. I read this morning Andrew Young saying he's been family friends with the Clintons for over 30 years. The Clintons spend their holidays at Bob Johnsons holiday home in the Carribean. I believe our black leaders are genuinely wrestling with their conscience. They are indebted to the Clintons. (sigh). Its all good though, leave em. There are still a whole bunch of leaders that are for Obama so thats okay.

Name: khufu
Comment: MSBLAKE Understandable the inner struggle of the conscience... the determining factor: what is the value system that an individual lives by? Is Andy's friendship more important than the fulfillment of the dream King had that gives birth to the possibility of a Black president? See, that King-dream is what birthed Andy Young in the first place... it's a heavy and deep struggle... But is it our individual selves and what we individually gain that should determine what we do or is it what is best for the whole? the collective? Should Young and others base their choices and actions on their heart or mind? On historical pursuit of justice and fulfillment of a 400 year struggle for equality or an individual lavish lifestyle, privilege and access?

Comment: I fought back tears yesterday when watching an MLK documentary on CNN. It highlighted the struggles blacks faced back in the day. It also showed MLK pressurising the heck out of Lyndon Johnson, I hope Hilary was watching!!! I think the MLK day events, documentaries etc will remind white folks just how bad their people did us and I genuinely believe some of them switich to Obama out of guilt in an attempt to try and correct their ancestors wrong.

Comment: Happy Birthday FOR REAL DR. KING

Name: MsBlake
Comment: Personally I don't have a problem with the likes of Andrew Young, Charles Rangel, Bob Johnson et al supporting Clinton, but I do have a problem with them insulting him and trying to belittle his achievements. Khufu it appears Andrew Young's loyalty is more important to fulfiling MLK's dream, but thats his choice. Some people tried to argue that black leaders sticking by Clinton is not out of loyalty but because of her experience and I'm like but if it was down to experience then shouldn't they be in Joe Biden's corner?????? He is arguably the most experienced.

Name: khufu
Comment: MSBLAKE within the context of fre choice, I dont either have issues with them either within the historical context and the social and political contest, I do....... also, if they are supporting her and consciously turning their backs to Obama for political reasons, I have an issue especially when they take swips at the brother trying to degrade him How can they talk about Obama's past teenage indulgences and speak in support of Bill CLinton who was getting head as President in the White House?

Comment: Why didnt' Alan Keyes have this type of support from us? Is it because he is a dark skinned black man? What message will be sent to our little black boys and girls? That to be a successful politician or a academy award winning actress, or singer that you should be light skinned? Will we soon be treating and talking about Obama the same way we ridicule and talk about other "red bones". I do have one request. Please dont diminish the presidential bids of Shirley Chisolm, Alan Keyes or Jesse Jackson. Those that supported these candidates did so, wanting and being sold on the same "change" and their supporters felt that there was also a "chance" for them as well. I am a supporter of Obama but I am troubled by the "savior" complex people put on him. I think he is begining to believe his own hype- and that is NEVER a good thing. I saw some speech he was giving the other day and he was surrounded by many african american females, and they were all looking up at him all googly eyed, and I was like... WTF. Do they know anything about this man?

Comment: To Khufu: Loved the frog and scorpion story. I always thought the scorpion stung him after he got on dry land. But when you're talking abouta self-destructive sickness - look at Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Anna Nicole - the list goes on and on. We may not be as self destructive, but some of us certainly are greedy and can be conned into bending over and holding our ankles for less than 40 pieces of silver...

Comment: I thought we as a people dont want "mainstream ideology", that we want change?

Name: yunvme
Comment: So are many supporting him because he is a safe negro- and that we will compromise just to get someone at least partially black in the white house?

Name: MsBlake
Comment: yunvme, I don't think the lack of support for Alan Keyes had anything to do with his dark skin. Most AA are Democrats and he is a republican. At one point he spoke out against homosexuality and his daughter came out as a lesbian and so he kicked her out the house and cut off financial aid - that kinda didn't make him look too good in the eyes of the voting public!

Name: khufu
Comment: YUNVME....that's what "we" say and then when change comes, "we" fight it.....and say "we been doing it this way for......" thisnis one of the things that keeps Black organizations stagnant.... unless of course white folks sign off on it first then it becomes acceptable to "us"

Name: Renetta
Comment: The only good thing about this is hillary has definitely shown the bare side of her fat white pasty azz. We know who she truly is now so if she gets into office and lets our young boys rot over there in Iraq, we won't be surprised. When she does nothing to help the lower and middle class we won't be surprised. When she moves to incarcerate even more brothers and turns the other way when injustice is committed against us we won't be surpised. If anyone had doubts about how ruthless the clintons are - there is no doubt anymore...

Comment: Do you think there have been attempts to silence Cynthia McKinney?

Name: khufu
Comment: RENETTA..that story speaks to human beings on a lot of levels: 1) Scorpions nature of killing no matter how nice the other being is and even if it is self-destructive to the scorpion 2) Frogs being too trusting in spite of the fact that he (the frog) knows better 3) the frogs own act of self-struction and his own participation in his own self-destruction for the sake of the "other" 3) How the frog wants to gives the scorpion the benfit of the doubt and how this allowed the frog to be "conned..."

Comment: I think people are excited about Obama cos he's fresh and different in every sense of the word. Yes you're right people do have this 'saviour' thing going on. I remember when Coretta King died, folks were saying, who will lead us now??? and I'm thinking why are black folks always looking for someone to lead them to the promised land.

Name: khufu

Comment: hrc visited compton, ca recently and she criticized the penal system by saying that she would spend $200 million over five years to help people re-enter the community after leaving prison. she further claims that she wants to divert a lot of them from the criminal justice system to start with. a lot of our young people of color are in our prison system and they don't belong there. they're nonviolent offenders. they are not given the support they need when they get in trouble the first time. mind you this is from the same person who supports 3 strikes and tougher sentences which is one of the main reasons for overcrowding in the prisons. 3 strikes is supposed to be for violent, repeat offenders but here in cali nonviolent offenders are being sent to prison for life for petty, nonviolent crimes.

Comment: MSBLAKE would Black folks support Obama if he were an Independent? Republican? Green PArty?

Name: DEEofVA
Comment: MsBlake, The media is incredibly lazy and obviously supportive of Hillary Clinton. They allowed her lie that King campaigned for LBJ to be broadcast as fact. Dr. King never campaigned for LBJ. He campaigned against Barry Goldwater who was against the civil rights act. By default, that would suggest he was supporing LBJ, but he wasn't. It was merely a lesser of two evils, but he did not consider LBJ to be a great friend of the Community. It should be noted that Hillary Clinton was a Goldwater girl. So while she may have went to see King speak, whe was inspired enought to drop her support of Goldwater.

Comment: If Obama wins that would be historic and signify change but all the problems facing black America will not be wiped out. I feel its important to help ourselves and not put ALL our hope in the government or continue to blame the white man. Comment: In response to your question , will i vote for Obama if he was a republican? First of all I couldn't vote either way cos i'm British but if I was American I'd say I'll need to know where he stands on a number of issues. The Iraq war is a big problem for me, my brother in law is out there so I'd be voting for someone who would bring the troops home. I voted for Tony Blair's party which is the equivalent of the Democrats but he did me wrong and went to war. In the next election I may end up voting for the Conservatives (equivalent of the Republicans) if I like what they're saying. Unforunately their policies do not always benefit non whites so in my case its about voting for the lesser eveil.

Comment: I plan on voting for Obama. I was originally undecided between HRC and Obama but I feel Obama is the best choice in my opinion. I'm impressed with the way Obama has conducted himself through this campaign. I found Hillary to be condescending (the way she had to break it down for us that it took Lyndon Johnson to pass the Civil Rights act). Does Hillary think she has the black vote on lock just because many of us supported Bill. I don't hate Hillary and she'd be a better president than Bush, but she doesnt really represent the change that I'm looking for. I voted for Bill Clinton twice, and I thought he was a good president, but that doesnt make me automatically support Hillary. As far as the Oprah issue, she has the right to support who she wants, and expecting her to support Hillary simply based on her gender or Obama based on his race is just dumb. There may be a divide in the leaders of black community between the two candidates but maybe it shows that dont all think the same way. Actually some of these hip hop stars are quiet on this issue, I know 50 cent always has to put his 2 cents in, but maybe it's because they work for large corporations. The most interesting thing about the campaign it is bringing issues of gender and race to the forefront, and peoples true colors are showing and it will get worse.

Comment: at this point I'm still not sure who I am voting 4. I really liked Edwards the last election & wished his #'s were better. The major issue I am having is women voting 4 Clinton & US voting 4 Obama cause he is black. We are mudslinging against our own folks and telling them they have "slave mentality" if they vote HC and then they are calling us just voting cause "he black" if they vote BO. No one will ever agree on politics as it is there own opinion, but putting down & belittling someone because they don't think or vote like u is asinine. That is the reason why ballots are cast in secrecy, nobody wants 2 be chided or taunted until their minds are changed. I am voting based off what they have accomplished while in their current role they promised to do to get those votes. All canidates say what they think u want 2 hear and do what they want after elected. Do your homework. You can use the internet to get all that info and base that on what they actually got done. I'm still waiting on some1 to talk about healthcare reform especially all these un insured children & some1 to talk about putting a stop 2 all these coporations going overseas "2 save money". I had 2 go back 2 school at 35 as my previous 2 tech support jobs went to India. Those r just 2 of my issues, dayum gender & race. <stepping off soap box

Comment: the mudslinging is a part of politrix but I still don't like it. there are black leaders standing behind obama so let's not do what the media is doing and only pumping up the folks vs. obama. glad to hear bloggers are getting their words out. it's good to hear what's really going on. this election season is ...somewhat different with the looks of the players but nothing new under the sun. vote. folks. not counted, deleted, suppressed, get out there anyway. GET IN THE GAME! WHY??? WHY NOT!!!!!

Comment: Black people are saying, Hillary has more experience than Obama. Past staff members have been quoted stating that Hillary was not involved in the day to day operation of the white house, nor could she attend high level or classied meeting or be advised of anything. When Jesse Jackson ran for president, no black person sayed he needed experience. You as American's have a right to vote for a candidate of your choose. Bill is telling Blacks his wife is better. I say, Bill that's Bill Sh%t. No Slick Willie or Slick Hillary needed !

Comment: yunv>> i find it interesting that in your comments you never threw out the question that AAs didn't support Keyes based on his POLITICS. i thought we as intelligent voters were given the mandate to vote for the best candidate based on the issues as we interpret them. but - par for the course. of course AAs are supporting Obama because he is light skinned. didn't you get the memo?

Comment: HoneyMack>> I was grudgingly forced to vote AGAINST a candidate in the last two presidential elections, now that there are actually candidates that I can feel good about voting FOR, the press and even some in our own community want to try and reduce our decision making abilities to race and (even worse in my book) 'blackness'. PLEASE PLEASE people, let these ridiculous notions go. It is bad enough that the MEDIA is playing up the DEM race as uncivilized (as compared to the 'civil' campaign of the all white male REPUB race); a point which will repeat itself ad nauseam during the general election - i could write this script. To make matters worse, Black people are STILL talking about how black (dark) Obama is. Trust me, with a Muslim name and an African daddy, Obama is as black (if not blacker) to the white establishment than most of the rest of us, regardless of our complexion. If anyone thinks that he is end BO a ticket to Jamaica if you think he is too light for crying out loud.

Comment: Don't be surprised if Hillary Clinton "wins" the Presidency just like George Bush won being the son of a former President--the same may hold true for being the wife of a former President. P-O-W-E-R. They seemed to be doing the same crooked things Bush Junior did to get in the White House. She & Bill Clinton want it really really bad!

Comment: Nordie, I hear ya. I can see HRC "winning" this election on a technicality.

Comment: People there is nothing new under the sun. I am happy to see the whole thing play out quite frankly. Maybe now, Black men can stop complaining about the racism of white men while giving white women a pass. Healthy white women work with their men in the interest of white people. Always have and always will. The rest marry minorities in this country. Sisters in the interest of Black people have been sounding the alarm, only to be met with charges of "hating" and "jealousy", despite centuries of evidence that indicate that not only were white women the greatest benefactors of slavery; they have also been taught how to handle slaves and now their descendents. It was required training to be declared as "minorities" despite being the majority and entering the work force. The Cerified Directory of Uncle Toms-a book- will help you not be shocked with all the Black folks that will trot out to support Clinton. I am confused, was it all the Black folks ushered into the penal system under Clinton that made Black folks think he and his wife were friends? Or was it Black women married to white men that gave him "honorary" Black man status as a result of his lack of self-respect and discipline? It is called White Supremacy people!!! Also known as the American way. Vote for who you like, it won't matter in the end anyway. Obama is insuring that no one mistakes him for Pro-Black. Though I must say looking at his mate choices he is blacker than a lot of Black men without white mommas! He is for the record, biracial, despite perverted, corrupt white supremacist laws that indicate otherwise. Black folks make Black babies. History informs us that white folks change them whenever it serves their corrupt purposes. I suggest people skip meals to devour history. Feed on history. Those that love history- are not emotionally attached to this. No one wants to focus on issues. Issues would effect the bottomlines for a lot or corporations that own America. They were enriched during the slave trade and are not sorry and are busy as hell getting richer. The rappers are silent because their freedom of speech only applies when used to be self hating, self loathing, or disrespectful to their mothers, sisters, wives and daughters. Can you dig it? http://focusedpurpose.typepad.com/focused_purpose/ if you are conscious and can hear me, let's roll up our sleeves and go to work.

Comment: I watched as Bill made a statement at a Black Church that Dr. Martin Luther King made it possible for a women to become president. That may be true but a bit skewed. I think he was speaking about a BLACK man or BLACK women to become equal to whites. In the sixties a black man was considered beneath a white women. How dare Bill Clinton use Martin's words to the level of slinging mudd. He's trying to say that it would be more of a Civil Right if Hillary became President. Bullshyt... I love Bill C. but I can see that he is trying to get another term for himself. VOTE FOR CHANGE!!! Vote Obama!

Comment: Clinton's has already put a BET on the fact that there is strife amongst us. They have decide to compaign that Hillary has a lot in common with the Black Women. Don't you be no damn fool and believe that. Hill don't have ANYTHING in common with us.
