Comment: Who cares. This is not even a real award. I liked Norbit and I like eddie (most of the time). I know who killed me did suck.

Comment: I'm glad. I don't think Hallie deserved to be raked over the coals for Catwoman; it wasn't great, but I've seen PLENTY more movies w/ "bankable" actors that sucked. Eddie, OTOH, decided to make this stereotypical tripe and deserves to be dogged for it. I wish he'd leave his issues with women, Black women especially, out of his films. Not a good look, and not a winning formula for film.

Comment: Razzies, unbeknownst to them, are another way to keep both Halle and Eddie out there (no matter their opinion on the movies) and the way they will continue to be able to ask for a few mil a picture.

Comment: MetroScribe you're saying that because of eddie's portrayal of a more than fluffy woman in Norbit he has issues with black women? I don't get that since he has so many other movies, good or bad, where he has a decent SO and never mentions a fat woman. I think we read too much into eddie and forget that he is a comedian. I think we also forget that big as.s girls are lettin' it all hang out in ways I never thought could/would happen. No way a comedian is gonna let that slide (and I can't say I blame him). I think too we're beginning to take ourselves too seriously.

Comment: McNasty>>I understand what you are trying to say but I really understand Scribe's point too. Eddie Murphy portrayal was offensive to black people period, I am so tired of Black men donning fat suits to play a overbearing, mean and sterotypical mad black woman. Yes Norbit is funny, but Eddie to me has kinda made his living at the expense of fat black people, and he really does seem to have issues, but those are his issues and he will have to deal with...I guess whn he makes one with trannies is drag, then we will know that he has at least worked through some of those issues.LOL

Comment: Norbit was a pitiful movie. I shook my head a lot while watching it, wondering what had happened to Eddie's ability to be funny.

Comment: I haven't seen "Norbit." The only way I'll see it is if it happens to find its way to cable. I've said it before, and I will say it again ... I can't STAND Eddie Murphy. (I loved him in "Dreamgirls," but according to someone here on this board, that was a repetition of what he's done on "Saturday Night Live" in the past.) It's becoming more and more clear with each passing day exactly why he married Tracey Edmonds.

Comment: Looka here...Eddie gonna get PAID in FULL regardless of whether the movie stinks or not. And I don't remember anybody complaining when he played FIVE fat characters + 2 add'l people in the Nutty Professor. Folks were calling it straight Genius. Besides, what actor does fabulous oscar worthy performances work ALL the time? I like Eddie, he has issues (don't we all) but he makes me laugh.

Comment: DCDOUGLAS***I agree with you 100%. I watched the movie this past weekend and I thought the movie s.u.c.ked. I was waiting to laugh, but it never happen. I am so glad I did not pay to see this movie. GRACE***the movie is now on cable, it is either HBO or Showtime. I like Eddie too and he can be funny at times, but Norbit was not the one. I have to agree with DEDE make a movie re: trannys and I too will feel he is dealing with some of his issues.

Comment: Dede that doesn't mean he has issues it just means (to me) that he has found a lot of folks funny bones cause regardless of how any of you feel about Norbit - it made a good bit of money, flew off the shelf in blockbuster and is in rotation on cable. Somebody is watching it. It was an okay movie that I'm glad I didn't pay to see but I didn't see his 'issues' or anything to be offended about. Eddie is not a serious actor - there is always humor in what he does and if we are so worried about his portrayal of black women why do we give certain others a pass?! DL used to play off his audience and until he got his own sitcom I was offended about every other thing that came out of his mouth. Free to roam is not a state that Hughely should be in. Also, check history we have always joked about us and even had quite a few hefty comedians that would add themselves and their heft to the punch line. It just ain't that serious to me considering all the time it has taken black folk to break into every genre of the entertainment industry.

Comment: I thought Norbit was an average movie. Eddie didn't need to don a fat suit for this movie. They should have cast Monique for the role instead.

Comment: My condolescences, SistaBigBone, on the waste of two hours of your time on "Norbit" this past weekend. But like you said, at least you didn't pay full price, unlike me. It was about the money for Eddie on this one. But I can still remember Eddie when he was an eighteen year-old upstart on Saturday Night Live, single-handedly carrying the show as Velvet Jones, Mr. Rodgers in Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood, Gumby, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, etc, etc (no other Not-Ready-For-Primetime Player, as the comedians on the show called themselves, was funny at that time). And then to leave the show and have hit movie after hit movie---Trading Places; 48 Hours I & II; Beverly Hills Cop I, II, and III; the live standup show---was all very amazing to watch. So that was the historical perspective for me and other Murphy fans while watching Norbit. But of course they all can't be homeruns. Anyway, continued success in the future, Eddie. Just tuck that ego in a little bit, be a little more considerate in your relations with women folk, be a good father, and you'll be alright.

Comment: DCDOUGLAS***Once again, I agree with 100%. Eddie's past movies I truly enjoyed them along with his role in Dreamgirls. I thought he was pretty good in Dreamgirls playing a more serious role. I feel with alot of us especially women who sees Eddie as a DL brother which can cloud your perspective on him. Quite frankly, me personally I despise a DL brother. I do not have a problem with gay/lesbians in general. He!!, I grew up with homosexuals even though I am heterosexual. I know of a few bi/male and female and their mates are aware of their status and they chose to accept it because they are still with them. While Eddie just might realized that people are willing to accept his love of trannys. LOL....wishful thinking.....in the words of Eddie's one time bestfriend.....Hmmmmmmm.

Comment: I tried to watch Norbit on HBO a few days ago, and it really was awful. I can find humor in anything, and I don't think I laughed once. I didn't find it offensive because I don't see any difference between how Eddie played Rasputia or how Monique would have played the role. But to change the topic, I wonder how come "Chuck and Larry" wasn't boycotted in droves by certain groups. I feel like it would have been if, say, Dave Chappelle and Isiah Washington were in the lead roles. You know what I mean? I think the last name Sandler helped a great deal with that one.
