Comment: you could not pay me enough to try to resocialize a "seriously aggressive pit bulls." I'm just saying.

Name: bigfriend
Comment: I do not like pit bulls and wish the breed would die out. But that said, I do know that will not happen and I do love animals and after the inhumane treatment they were dealt by M.V. and friends at least something is going well for them in thier poor lives. I think people will tune in.

Comment: OMG. I can't believe they are going to capitalize off these dogs. Vick should get a cut, if it wasn't for him, they wouldn't have a show. Right Flava Flav?

Name: TGen
Comment: Southern Yankee, you took the words right out of my mouth.

Name: Trianna007
Comment: I agree SouthernYankee. Are the dogs benefitting from this? Do they get a cut of the money? This is exploitation.

Name: fanteeking
Comment: They should throw Mike Tyson in the kennel along side them. LOL!!!

Name: Winn30344
Comment: "Vicks Victims"..give me a flucking break. The man is in jail serving his time and people are still capitalizing on his "crime"..they are no better than PETA with their so-called christmas cards. Everyone making money off this "tragedy" while Vick sits in jail. National Geographic just lost a longtime viewer here!!

Name: FiveMore
Comment: I hope them dawgs tare their azzes up!How can you reintroduce vicious pits back into society?

Name: McNasty
Comment: That's just it - I don't think you can Fivemore! This sounds like an excuse for them to abuse the dogs and then put them to death. Pit bulls are bred for fighting and once their natural instinct is encouraged I can't imagine there being a point where they can be re socialized.

Comment: Huh?! What!?!? Is this shat forealz??

Comment: Da hell?

Comment: Vick should have picked an easier to forgot victim...like another black man. Then we'd be lucky if the media reported about it on page 50 and they certainly wouldn't have made a reality program about the victim.

Comment: I used to have a neighbor many years ago who was a dog behaviorist or something to that account. Understand, what I'm about to say is coming from his point of view, but bear in mind he was an expert and I'm only the messenger. But he often told me that there were so many myths surrounding dogs, especially pit bulls and rottweilers that these myths took on a life of their own and somehow in the minds of some became fact. To resocialize a vicious dog, especially one that's trained to be vicious like a pit bull is a tall order, BUT it can be done. There are many factors that have to be taken into consideration though. Awhile back in the news, they discovered a breeding ground for pit bulls who had been trained to attack at the sound of one word, but because their owner had a heart attack or suddenly died somehow, the authorities were never able to discover what that word was. And unfortunately, the dogs had to be euthanized. They were the sweetest dogs, very playful and very non-aggressive, but without knowing those dogs' trigger points, there was no way they could take the chance and put them up for adoption. However, to resocialize a pit bull they have to know certain key things. IF that dog has an attack word for one. If it is sensitive to crowds, other dogs, children, certain foods, any number of triggers that will end up provoking it. There's a commonality between all behavior problems, so if you can think of what when and where a dog had a series of incidents in the past, you might isolate those triggers, and then you're half way to resocializing him or her. But just getting there is hard enough... hard, but not impossible. And because dogs are very sensitive critters, it doesn't take much to throw them outta whack which is why resocialization is looked upon as an option that is destined to fail. Resocializing will have to be a very slow process beginning with simple tasks; walking the dog, playing fetch, playful roughhousing, etc. Unfortunately though, pit bulls have been "selectively" bred to fight since, hell time immemorial. And if they won't fight, you will find that their "masters" eliminated them from the gene pool. But, is it right to breed a dog, kill the ones that don't fight, and then claim it's ok to fight them because the ones you haven't destroyed “like” to fight? Here's another myth: Pit bulls do not love to fight. They are "genetically programmed" for it!

Comment: What an interesting concept for a show - and meant as a slight against Vick as well. As for pit bulls, it is not the dog that is the problem - look at the owner as many of them breed these dogs into severe aggression. Either way, what is the point of this show ??????????

Name: clotel
Comment: Winn30344 - I completely agree with you and could not of said it better myself.........

Name: PTown
Comment: Doesn't National Geographic have anything else to do - Isn't it their jobs to show us how animals screw each other, find food, and how 'primative societies live'. At the very least, show us a rerun of "The Gods Must Be Crazy".

Name: adifferentpath
Comment: >choochoo: true. sad. but true. Vick should have picked an easier to forgot victim...like another black man. Then we'd be lucky if the media reported about it on page 50 and they certainly wouldn't have made a reality program about the victim.

Name: cuteleggs
Comment: WHY???? Why does there need to be a tv show to let us know how they're doing. I don't care. Their dogs. YT is a trip. ChooChoo is so right. What thee a s s.

Name: realuvbaby
Comment: ok, bring out the cameras and place them all over. Big Brother is coming at a TV near you in the form of reality shows. I mean, who the eff cares and do these dogs need a show? I co-sign with the others who believe that MV should get a cut . . . this reality show sh** is getting beyond ridiculous. Put up the damn cameras and call Big Brother, I don't care but put me out of the misery of reality TV. 'Scuse me, I got a date in TV Land.

Name: CaliRedbone
Comment: Luke_Cage >>> Amen and I hear ya, I have had both pitbulls and rottie's and it's all how you raise them, all my dogs were sweet!!! ps, dont agree with this farce' of a so-called show

Name: arkansasgirl
Comment: Luke Cage, I hear what you are saying but bump that. I still wouldn't want a dog that was trained to fight but is now resocialable. Another thing about pits. If you get a pit, you need to know info about it's parents and grandparents b/c if one parent was trained to fight, your pit could get agressive without any signs.

Name: blackdragon
Comment: Winn30344, last time I checked, dogfighting is illegal in the U.S. And yes, those dogs were victims because of the way Michael Vick and his buddies treated them.

Name: dcdouglass01
Comment: Looks like the majority wants to keep this in the public eye. Oh well. So much for Vick restarting his football career (in America) in 2009. Congratulations, Mike. You're the new OJ.

Name: thechocolate10
Comment: AKG> hey girl you are so right. lots of time people do inbreeding and you have some crazy dogs but as an owner of a 9 year old pit who has never bitten anyone its all about how you raise them.

Name: Luke_Cage
Comment: >>>arkansasgirl: It's definitely a risk luv. And one some folks cannot afford to take. What a shame though...

Name: YLawdY
Comment: Wow, those dogs are gonna make more money that Vick this year! Think they'll float him a loan when he gets out?

Name: Winn30344
Comment: Blackdragon..let's see..we have a war going on that was illegally started and noone has been jailed for that so please..just because it's illegal doesn't mean it's always prosecuted. I see that you ignored the other comments about the Black victims of crimes not receiving a reality show, compensation, etc. but horned in on mine..uh huh..you make alot of sense!!

Name: adifferentpath
Comment: >>cuteleggs, I'm using this one, "What thee a s s." nuff said.

Name: adifferentpath
Comment: along with "bump that" (arkansasgirl) and "you're the new OJ" (dcdouglass01) and YLawdY with "friends" and "family" like Mike's, the "victims" will definitely NOT be letting Mike hold something.

Name: StopBeingIgnant
Comment: Hey Luke_Cage, so no one volunteered to stand in front of those pits and read words from the dictionary to see which word is the trigger ?? lol

Name: TooLiveQue
Comment: Damn...everybody got a hustle.

Name: amethyst
Comment: This is ridiculous. Unfortunately, there are many other abused dogs around the country. It's interesting that only dogs from Mike Vick's case will appear on the show, rather than producing a show about the effects of dogfighting and presenting various dogs. This is all about publicity because the convicted is a celeb. Shame on National Geographic. The shame is that they will probably have high ratings.
