Comment: I never heard of any of those strips!!

Name: HarrisThomas
Comment: these cartoonists have an excellent point to make with their sit-in because their work is not readily available to the public due how their material is distributed/syndicated . . . Darrin Bell make this point in this article: "When one of my cartoons gets added to a page, I dread asking my syndicate what I replaced because it's too often one of the other 15 'black' strips, . . ." . . . I like Candorville by Bell, it's one of my favorites and I am lucky that his work is distributed by the Washington Post, at present . . . the strip could be easily dropped if the Post decides to bring in another work by a cartoonist of color

Comment: I think I've heard of "Herb and Jamaal" (I think?) But I agree with you HThomas, this cartoonist has a legitimate gripe. I feel so bad for Blacks, we always seem to have adapt to OTHERS, rarely are they forced to do the same. Only thing I can say to the cartoonists is maybe incorporate non-Black or non-color characters in their strips for wider appeal...but that said, I wish them well with their sit-in.

Comment: Watch Your Head and Candorville are in the Washington Post and while I wouldn't mind if Watch your head was replaced it would be nice to have a few more black comic strips. TGen the two two females in Candorville are hispanic and the brother has a white girlfriend. That's enough incorporation for me!

Comment: Good for the brothers! As a fellow illustrator, I wish that I could be down for the cause too. When I was trying to break into the comic book business, alot of rejection letters (which were nothing more than "form" letters) were very ambiguous as to what they were really looking for in their strips. But one thing that stood out to me was "style." -Mr. Cage, we're looking for the next Jim Lee, or the next Joe Jusko, Alex Ross, whatever... I love these cats artwork, but I guarantee, they didn't rise to the level of prominence that they did by emulating someone else's style. Why should I? Good luck fellas!

Comment: McNasty, the reason that I like Candorville is that the cartoonist routinely presents WTF? moments through his characters . . . I'm mighty happy sistas ain't in that mix

Comment: It's a pretty good strip HarrisThomas and I'm hoping that they keep it around. It seems like since they got a hold of Boondocks they want to close the door on any and all others. If that is the case then they should bring Boondocks back.

Comment: To Darrin Bell: I'm in love with Ms. Garcia, she deserves better than Lemont, hook a brotha up! ;o)
