Comment: I applaud anyone who takes the effort to put their projects out but here's my question: Why aren't we (Black folk, the creators of Hip Hop) the ones to tell and disseminate the culture? If you look, most of the books out on the history on hip hop aren't written by us. The big companies own our vehicles for the message. I don't know. Just curious.

Comment: Who exactly is this hip-hop community, Dave Mays? Oh, I know. The predominantly Caucasian fanbase that buys most of the (c)rap music albums. Hip-hop doesn't belong to any one group of people. Music in general is universal. It transcends race, nationality, ethnicity, etc. It belongs to everybody. Culture (music, language, etc.) is never exclusive to one group of humans. It will go to other places, voluntarily or involuntarily, and it's usually done through the media and immigration.
