Mainly because he has children and does not want this negativity coming down on them in the future (I'm sure). Gay or not, who cares? I mean really, if he's been Eddie's friend for 24 years, why would he not stay at his guest house. Does not mean he's gay! Comment: Johnny Gill accuses people, the magazines and blogs (etc), of being reckless in their speculation; however, many entertainers and the music business at large have been reckless with the messages and images they portray in the media, especially when it comes to those marketed towards Blacks and Latinos. This is especially so in regards to marketing to youth.
OK, now Gill, I respect his artistry. Thinking back with all he put out here as far a videos and songs go, he was on the up-and-up. But some of these other people that are being suspected as being gay, on the d.l. , swinging, predators, perverted - people suspect them because of their body of work. The messages in their music and the images they portray are of perversion/ sexual exploitation and people tend to strongly associate that with covert sexuality, deception, and just pure craziness.
And he's on the race card about Black people being ignorant because we won't believe it when it comes from the 'horse's mouth', as he put it. And it's funny how he references his selection of women to choose from as 'keeping a stable'. Ha! Swag...
Well, people lie. People deceive be it about their own business or someone else's. We've seen it numerous times in the media from Milli Vanilli, Luther Vandross, Marion Jones, Raz B...folks got game. They say and do whatever they have to in order to keep their image up, make their living while doing as they please with their life.
Not speaking of Gill, but many people don't feel accountable when they deceive and lie to the consumer or public. I'm the person that wants to know, "Hey, you know that group I was a fan of when I was young, the one my parents would say were too grown for their age..." Me thinking I wasn't mature enough for my age and that time period, "Is it true that they were being raped by their manager and other adult figures around them. Were they being imposed upon sexually?"
For me and my parents we need that truth. For other parents, they need to know that so they won't think "Oh, it's just what's in style/cool".
You entertainers don't account for the kind of conflict/influence you created and have in some homes. You say, "Well, that's the parent's responsibility"...Ok, then why is it that you guys can't be responsible with what you put out here?
And for the male crooners who have had extensive female fan base...I think it's sad for masses of women to swoon over a male idol as if he's heterosexual when he's, in fact, gay. That's deception.
Not indicating Gill, but there are some out here fronting for a living. But people cover for it because folks eat off the hustle.

People think there's more money in the record business than there really is. A lot of Johnny's career was spent recording and touring with New Edition. Money in the record business is already tight with ONE artist, but trying to make a profit with FIVE guys (and the occasional Bobby B.) is asking a lot. And let's face it even at Johnny's prime he wasn't selling Britney type sales. AND his biggest hit (My My My) was written by Babyface not him. The real money in the music business in in publishing... not necessarily performing. So... I just think he's low on cash and been so for the longest while. My take.

Comment: The only thing that is interesting about this whole "gay" rumor is that they keep saying they are not gay. I have dear friends who are gay. They admit it, live it, don't try to hide the fact. I was roommates with my best gay friend when he told his parents he was gay. They talked to him on the phone for like 3 hours. After that they just loved him as always and let it go. My friend told me that you don't just choose to be someone who is discriminated against, will always have to face outright hate, etc. but he is what he is and he feels he was born that way. It actually takes more courage to admit that truth and live your life the way you see fit. However, men who sleep with and freak wtih other men and date "?stables?" of women and have children with women and marry women do not, will not, won't ever CALL THEMSELVES GAY. That takes a whole lot of courage and most of them could nt face a society that would judge them. So they don't admit it. Period.

Comment: Johnny is a liar! Charlie Murphy appeared on WGN TV-Chicago after Eddie and Tracey's ceremony and said that he didn't appear because he was doing a show and his schedule didn't permit him to join the couple. he even joked that it turned out that he didn't miss anything.
in addition, Eddie Murphy's mom probably needs to find something to do with her spare time. Clearly she is far too involved in his personal life. She put two cents in when he was involved with Scary spice. If she wants to be of some positive service, maybe she needs to start correcting her son for his behavior and ease up on the women who care about him
