Comment: Billiary Clinton will pick up on this and will put out a lyin' azz press release that Obama has joined the N. O. I. ! That lady do'll about anything to win! LOL!

Name: TGen
Comment: In the words of Florida Evans, "Damn! Damn! Damn!" This is horrible news, just horrible. At first I was hoping to give the benefit of the doubt to White America, that maybe they'd be able to use common sense and realize, that just because someone praises someone does not make them "friends" or "allies," lol, but woe when I checked out a conversative site linked to the Drudge Report. Reading all those racist "I knew it all along" comments just made me sink down into my seat. Curiously, Drudge took that story off his webpage, at least it was gone when I just checked again. I'm hoping it stays gone and the rest of the media plays this down instead of up. If they don't, it's almost certain the little rope White America gave a Black to be a presidential contender, will mysteriously disappear. *Sigh* Amerikkka, Amerikkka

Comment: When I read this story earlier today I didn't think it was a good thing for Obama cos this dude is too controversial with his racist, anti-sematic and homophobic views. Fanteeking you're right this gives the opponents ammunition. Gay folks are still mad at Obama cos of Donnie Mclurkin.(G'morning Fant n' Tgen by the way). Thankfully the Obama campaign have issued athe folowing statement - Sen. Obama has been clear in his objections to Minister Farrakhan's past pronouncements and has not solicited the minister's support."

Name: MsBlake
Comment: Unlike alot of black leaders who have shied away from publicly praising Obama, I was somewhat pleasantly surprised with some of the things Farakkhan said like praising Obama's ability to unify folks of all races, ages and religions. As I mentioned in another post, seeing that Farakkhan has referred to the white man as the devil on a number of occcasions he didn't seem to have a problem with Obama's biracial heritage. He even compared Obama to the Nation of Islams founder Fard Mohammed, who was also biracial. One person who does have a problem with Obama's mother and his supporters is hardcore Clinton supporter, Harlem Pastor Manning. See clip (warning - its quite disturbing). http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OgtIqeV-6mk

Comment: *sigh...First Raph Nader dusts his butt off and enters the race...Now this...Yo, the Minister didn't say anything controversial but ya know how the press is gonna run with this...I just heard of a report that says Black folks fear for Rak's life...Yo, folks gon try to derail this train...Now Sam minus Dave 'don told Rak not to use "Hold on, I'm comming"...Steveland, write Rak a song...Now, I'm hearing that one of Michelle's exes is comming out with some sh1t....

Name: TGen
Comment: MsBlake, you always have the latest! Thanks for that. I'm SO glad BO's people responded, hopefully the msm will report THAT as much as they are inclined to report the "Farakhan praises BO" thing. *We'll see* Boot, I heard that about Sam Moore's song. What a doof. He should be glad someone wants to use his dang song so as to keep his little bit of celebrity alive! lol But as usual, the BO camp responded swiftly and decisively and said they'd stop using it. I gotta give them props. Their organization is ON IT, right on top of everything it seems. Good for them. Btw, what's that about Michelle's exes? I've not heard. Hmmm

Comment: certainly, the McCain and Billary camps are throwing out whatever negativity that they think will soil the O-BA-MA!! run for president but we expected this . . . O-BA-MA!! said during the last debate that he would rather discuss the subtantive issues facing America . . . I am expecting Hillary to talk really bad azzed in the next debate because she needs a distortion that will stick and/or a campaign ending O-BA-MA!! mistake . . . anybody who considers that the praise from Minister Farrakhan's message is perjorative, is truly playing the race card . . . I didn't see it, but I heard that Saturday Night Live parodied the so-called soft media coverage that O-BA-MA!! has been getting and gave a ringing endorsement to Hillary the bytch (not making this up) and compared her favorably to Margaret Thatcher . . . TGen, the blogosphere has been spewing O-BA-MA!! hatred for a while . . . today's NY Times has a prominant article about whether O-BA-MA!! can be kept safe and I admit that is a major concern for me as well

Comment: and what does anyone have to say about the negative mailings the obama camp sent out?

Name: Grace12_34
Comment: I am really shocked at this. I thought there was an unwritten agreement among so-called African American "leaders" to hold tight, STFU and let this thing unfold. As an ex-member of the NOI, I'm suprised at the Minister for speaking on the election at all! I can't believe he didn't know that "the mischief makers" would automatically link him to BHO the minute he opened his mouth about him. HarrisThomas, I watched "Saturday Night Live" this weekend, and that's not the way I saw it. Basically, they made fun of both BHO and HRC. It was funny, and they did not have the bad taste to make fun of his names as was done on the Oscars last night. As for his safety, I think we can expect to see a huge cross burning on the White House lawn if he is elected. And THAT will only be the beginning.

Comment: Creenj, I don't have the info. I thought Boot did, so I was asking him. Btw, please see this link (if it works): http://www.drudgereport.com/flashoa.htm A synopsis, it's basically the Clinton staffers ADMITTEDLY passing around a pic with Obama in African garb, from when he toured Africa in 2006. This is DIRECTLY playing on the ignorance of people who will mistake it for "Muslim" garb and validation that "this guy is not one of us." It's RACIST and it's DIRTY and it's INDEFENSIBLE. Whe Hillary "Shame on you Barack" brings that silly flyer that got her all riled up over the wknd to the debate Tuesday, I hope Obama brings that pic her camp is spreading around and calls her damn bluff. PATHETIC the depths in which deficient politicians--those lacking whatever it is that helps people win fair--sink to win. By any means necessary, huh? I hope that ish backfires on her. Silly trick.

Comment: I have never had a problem with the things Farrakhan says, at least he is consistent. However I have noticed of late there is a lot less 'the white man is the devil' speeches which for me means dude is mellowing out. The fact that he has a qualified opinion on Obama and there are thousands that agree with him just makes this more fodder for the billary machine. I choose to concentrate on what is real and that is there is a real possibility that Obama will smoke the competition. I choose not to listen to the backwards thinking that said they wouldn't vote for him because he might get killed. All of this has begun to sound to me like what we finally realized ole bushit was doing with the war on terror - keeping us scared to act or vote our conscience and I ain't havin' it!

Comment: consistently wack - in my opinion - Run fast, Obama.

Name: bigchassie
Comment: well, as Barack Obama said, this race was not going to be easy, the bottom line is no matter what they sling at him (and they are slinging at him every which way) he is going to stand strong and firm. nothing worthwile getting in this life is easy and he truly know it the thing is we got to have that same mindset. change can happen for the good, but in order to do that you got to make it change and don't let nothing steer you away from doing that. i feel this is his way of thinking and we all have to think the same way, no matter what mud they sling at him.

Name: Teigh
Comment: I'm not referring to Farrakhan but everything else is a desperate attempt that will not succeed, when you shake the tree that is Barack and Michelle -- anything and I mean ANYTHING that can fall was tossed from the tree by THEM. The next two weeks are going to be the nastiest weeks in the political history of this country. Billary are fighting for their political future. When she does not succeed -- she will finish her term and not get re-elected (how can you support someone who has shown you who they really are) and Bill will no longer have the kind of access he sorely misses. Worse carse scenario as someone posted weeks ago (I think it was Big Black Rod) Billiary will succeed in ending the democratic party as we currently know it because they will split it in a way that it can never be repaired.

Name: CRENEEJ
Comment: i doubt that it would split the party b/c the party in theory, should be based on ideals, not on people. as far as her staffers circulating a picture of him, why is that such a bad thing? he did go, he did wear the outfits, and it would be easily explained that it was customary to wear it there. i don't believe that most Americans are gullible enough to fall for it anyway.... if he gets the nod fine, if she gets it fine. this is about personality, and most people are rallying behind him. someone else on another board said something to the effect of people being taken in by him. I dunno myself, but as far as i know the flyers the obama camp were circulating had been disproved and pulled from circulation for corrections, and then resent out exactly the same. what's the meaning behind that. if she did that everyone would be in an uproar.

Name: Teigh
Comment: If the super delegates wind up picking the candidate and it is not Obama (if he indeed captures the popular vote but not enough delegates) it WILL SPLIT THE PARTY!!! And shame on EUR for not posting this article with a positive spin. This is more than likely going to be the most googled topic today!

Comment: (stepping out on faith) I understand the "fear" at play here. It's mudslinging time because this viable man is "a breath away" from the White House. Bring it on!! Being a uniter, hey Baramarama (a la Jesse Jackson, SOBU 2008)! Continue to Unite. Everyone. Farrakhan has never operated out of fear. I cannot expect him to keep his mouth closed to simply please or appease YT or you and me or Barack. I'll continue to keep Barack prayed up and cease to operate in fear and instead out of faith (love). Peace.

Comment: Morning All; haven't read all the comments but did read the AJC this morning. All I got to say is we've got a lot of work to do and cannot rest until Obama is President and Michelle is First lady. Obama is the only candidate capable of changing the course of the country, reversing the damage done by Reagan/Bush/Clinton era. He's a breath of fresh air. Yes, I'm still reading AUDACITY OF HOPE and challenge anyone who does not believe he's capable or experienced enough to be President to read about his positions on the issues facing this country. Having said all that, let them talk. People dogg black folk for not uniting and hating on each other, but when we do show love, somebody has to be denounced. None of us can help or take credit for being black or white or who our parents are. However, in all cases, no matter what religion, we all must DO THE RIGHT THING and in so doing, somebody will be offended. All I can do is hate it for 'em. Racism is an hel.l.uva drug. Comment: Yahoo News, PR Web, Mon Feb 25, 2:01 AM ET The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan speaking today in his annual Nation of Islam Saviours' Day address commented extensively on the U.S. presidential race, which included remarks specifically concerning the candidacy of Democratic hopeful Sen. Barack Obama. Min. Farrakhan spoke to an estimated 20,000 people at McCormick Place Convention Center. ADVERTISEMENT Chicago (PRWEB) February 25, 2008 -- The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan speaking today in his annual Nation of Islam Saviours' Day address commented extensively on the U.S. presidential race, which included remarks specifically concerning the candidacy of Democratic hopeful Sen. Barack Obama. Min. Farrakhan spoke to an estimated 20,000 people at McCormick Place Convention Center. Although the Minister did speak complimentary of Sen. Obama, he said he would not tell any one of his followers how to cast their vote, but he did say they should vote "their own self-interest." Min. Farrakhan went on to say that the litmus test concerning himself given to Sen. Obama should also be given to Sen. Hillary Clinton and other presidential candidates. The Minister said he did not want the "mischief makers" to use his words to try to hurt Mr. Obama or himself.

Comment: From the AJC this is what one person had to say about the endorsement: By Redneck Convert Well, it figures an uppity one of Those People would endorse another uppity one of Those People. It don’t matter. Us GA rednecks would never vote for one of Those People even if he had two white fathers and his folks was members of the Klan. If you got only a eighth of Those People in you, you are still one of Those People.Anyhow, there’s a lot of things I don’t like about McCain, but leastwise he’s White, and that’s what we look for in the voting booth. Just ask this Ford guy up in TN what happens when rednecks get into the voting booth. Sure, they told the reporters they might vote for Ford, but when it come right down to it, they pushed the screen for this Corker that most of them never heard of before and won’t hear from again till the next election.Anyhow, it don’t matter. Now that Nader is in the race the librul Democrats are finished. Nader will draw away some tree-huggers and Free Innerprize haters and that will be enough to give McCain the close states. People that hate godly Republicans are dumb enough to vote for Nader, they don’t know they are helping us. The people on this blog need to do what I done. I held my nose and mailed McCain 5 bucks, and then I sent Nader a couple bucks just to keep him in the race. Nader is the best friend a Republican ever had.If it wasn’t for Nader My President wouldn’t be finishing up his 2nd term right now and we probly wouldn’t be at war and in alot of debt and people like jbmlaw would be in poverty without the tax cuts instead of trooping off to Hawaii in the middle of winter. We would of been in awful shape right now if Gore had of won. The troops would be setting around playing cards and too many jobs would be all over the place and kids would of got too much book learning for their own good and turned into libruls. Sometimes you got to have hard times to know how good you got it. If nothing else, we should elect Obama to get rid of the friggin ignorance in this country. GOBAMA 08. Shake the Haters and as far as Farrakhan, all I can say is: THE TRUTH HURTS ONLY THOSE IN DENIAL. We knew Farrakhan this would be a problem, didn't we? Screw those people, none of us can take credit for our skin tone or our parents, but we can take pride in doing what we know is right. In love and truth, I bid you Peace and for you all to stay the winning course and stay blessed.

Comment: Sam Moore of Sam&Dave in 1996 tried to give Bob Dole the usage of Soul Man another one of their hits in his unsuccessful run against Bill Clinton changing it to I'm a Dole man,(he should have called it I got a hole in my head man)so Sam has been supporting republicans for some time, even if Barack was using it without permission,he would have only had to clear it with the song's writers who were Isaac Hayes&Dave Porter, but the ultimate song can be created after victory in November,or better still for the Jan. inauguration.

Comment: it will split the party if you allow it to... again the question is asked, if hillary got the nod, would barack supporters abstain from voting? they're both mudslinging. my thing is that BO is a politician first.... he will do and say whatever to get into office same as HC. you know the other thing that's been pizzin me off lately, why in the news is he called Senator BO, and she just called HC? i'm tellin yall the milk is not clean.... he has a lot of support but popularity doesn't mean that you will be a good leader. i would love to read about what michelle's exes are saying. i really had a problem with her comments and i didn't see her raked over the coals like bill was.

Comment: VERY interesting points, CRENEEJ. I'm for Hillary, BUT I'm going to VOTE for whoever gets the nod!!! There's no way in H-E-L-L I'm not going to exercise a right people died for me to have simply because my favorite person didn't win the nomination, and I sure as H-E-L-L am not going to vote Repukelican, Rephucklican, or ReTHUGlican, as some of you call them.

Comment: from last year until the Iowa caucuses, the clintons were viewed as inevitable winners and the presidential candidates for the Democratic party . . . the actual voting has proved to be opposition to inevitability . . . I posted recently that the clintons are closet Republicans who have taken advantage of perpetual disarray in the Democratic party to implement Republican party platforms and I want a clinton supporter to prove me incorrect . . . many people are seeing that the clintons are willing to destroy the Democratic party if that is what it takes to advance their legacy . . . the clintons are bold faced liars as demonstrated in their campaign position against NAFTA: these days, the clintons are running against their documented record of support for NAFTA and it's weird because people are drinking that koolade [why are Hillary's records sealed?] . . . when I surf cyberspace in order to have a big picture perspective about the O-BA-MA!! candidacy, I remain amazed at what O-BA-MA!! is positively achieving in the face of so much ignorance and stupidity . . . I share the O-BA-MA!! audacity of hope, win lose, or draw

Comment: Creenj, if there's nothing to the pic, WHY IS THE HC CAMP SENDING IT OUT? If it's "customary," where's the beef? They must believe there's something to gain politically from the pic, otherwise it would be a non-issue, correct? Beyond that, are you saying HC is NOT referred to as Senator and that BO is ALWAYS referred to as Senator? Are you serious? Yet still, BO defended those flyers as true and legit. If you can find something about them that was untrue, do share. But honestly I find your biased and refusal or inablity to step back and be objective is staggering

Comment: The only people taking this and running with it are those who were not going to vote for this man to begin with. Obama's base does not consist of the fly by night minority. The nastiest comments I have read about Obama's patriotisim, affiliations, and intentions are from those who are frankly still Bush supporters. They not have to announce this fact--it is in the between the lines of everything they say. His middle name is important to those hicks!! What the Obama camp needs to do now is not only focus on the issues BUT run a PR campaign in the vein of getting to know Barack. Obviously it is not enough that the man has authored 2 about himself, it is not enough that his website lays it out. The AMERICANS want to know what Church he goes to, they want to be exposed to the family structure. This what will counter Hillary's rampage. Her lies can only go so far.

Comment: The turtle was happily swimming along a river when a scorpion hailed it from the shore. "Dear friend turtle!" called the scorpion. "Please let me climb upon your back and swim me to the other side of the river!" "No," replied the turtle, "for if I do, you shall sting me, and I shall die." "Nonsense!" replied the scorpion. "If I kill you in the middle of the river, you shall sink, and I shall drown and die with you." The turtle thought this over, and saw the truth of the scorpion's statement. He let it upon his back and began swimming towards the other side of the river. Halfway across, he felt a sharp pain in the back of his neck. "Why have you stung me?!" cried the turtle as his body began to stiffen. "Now you shall die as well!" "Because it is in my nature," replied the scorpion as the turtle sank beneath the waters.

Comment: I'm a big Obama supporter but I do not like his camps response to the Minister's "compliments" of him. It was dismissive and inappropriate. Farah didn't endorse Obama..instead he just offered nice things to say about him. Therefore it is no reason for the response. I don't care what the rules are for a black man running, you don't basically insult someone like Farah just because he was complimentary. Didn't like it at all.

Comment: CreenJ you asked why folks on the board are not in uproar about the leaflet that was sent out by the Obama campaign. I think its pretty obvious, the majority of us here are pro-Obama. I have stumbled across a few sites where the comments are pro-Clinton and their opinions mirror ours. JMO

Comment: In case you didn't know..Hillary is a fukng LUNATIC...straight Norman Bates meets Mrs. Polyanna meets Creulla De Vil (101 Dalmations). WTF? I came in on the tail end of her "tirade/meet me at the playground @2'oclock for a showdown" this weekend and said to myself "wtf did Obama do to this woman." After I heard it, i was like WTF? The mailers in question is being criticized because the Obama camp referred to an article where Hill reportedly said that NAFTA was a "boon" to the ecomonmy. She never said it was "boon" and the paper had long retracted that one word. The other said that Hill wants to force people to buy healthcare they can't afford. That is the controversy over the mailing that got this crazy bytch spinning out of control. You would think he got personal or at least was something so far removed from reality. So for this bytch to switch from "can we all get along mode" to "Meet me in the mthfng boxing ring" in a span of 48hrs reeks PSYCHOTIC! Some'n is wrong w/this bytch!

Comment: Crenee..prior to this race, Hillary was referred to as Hillary Clinton. Obama came into the US Senate as a State Senator so the title was already there. Maybe after 28 years of being known as Hillary Rodham, Hillary Rodham Clinton and now Hillary Clinton, people just pick one. Either way the formal title and first/last names are used interchangeably throughout.

It seems everyone was fooled but me. Even b4 the media exposed her "graceful" moment as almost direct quotes from Billy and JEdwards, I knew it was b.s. Comment: You know one of the best things I like about Sen. Obama? The man is cool under pressure. Hillary IS a fu^^^&g LUNATIC! Her little press conference, where she was dressed in the same funky outfit she wore to Tavis's event, was full of shrewish histrionics. So...if she manages to weasle her way into the presidency, and Bin Laden puts out a tape calling her an 'infidel biatch', is this how she's going to overreact? Oh and I just loved Tavis giving her a platform on Saturday...I also loved her half azzed apology for the racist campaign she's been running. I believe her words were 'I'm sorry if you niccas misunderstood that I was calling you niccas'. WTF??? No, I'm not voting for her if she's the nominee. And Farrakhan...Sen Obama has good people helping him with this campaign. What worried me more is this talk that Michelle's college thesis has been sealed until Nov. 5th.

Of course to RATIONAL people, there's nothing wrong with it,lol, but we're talking about the average AMERICAN PUBLIC, the same folks who voted TWICE for George Bush...anything BUT rational. You have to coddle these people to some degree, you have to tip-toe around them, feed them in bits. They are LOOKING for ANYTHING to hang BO with, does not matter its merit, they are gullible, most are idiots to be blunt. How much more 'coddling' do we has black folks have do to prove to America that we are capable of holding down political offices, particularly the presidency? I hate to say this but black folks sometimes enable yt with their nonsense. If black folks had their act together, we would not have to worry whether what Farrakhan says hurts BO or not. It would be totally irrevelant. I understand we are excited about BO having a shot at the presidency but we also at the same time should think seriously about building long lasting coalitions so we don't have worry about things like this.

As much as I support Obama, honestly, I am expecting very little of him when it comes to our issues because we never hold people accountable. So why shouldn't Obama get a pass like everybody else has been for decades?

Comment: IMO, Farrakhan has every right to endorse any candidate he chooses. He is a powerful man with a lot of influence. If he supports Obama then he should be free to express that support. If this "endorsement" hurts Obama then we haven't overcome as much as we thought. If Jewish groups endorse Obama does that make him Jewish? If gay organizations support him does that make him gay and etc? I thought it was a presidential candidate's objective to seek endorsements. A lot of controversial groups endorse candidates... PETA, NRA, religious groups and etc. no one has had a problem yet and I don't expect Obama to receive any backlash from this. But, in my heart I know he will.

Comment: America is a very scary place right now. Every person in this country who has been adversely affected by the last 8 years of the present administration's mismanagement, the economy, war, lack of health care, loss of jobs, unfair treatment, etc. should just vote for a change for the better. Racism is alive and well unfortunately. The sad truth about that AJC writer is that folks will just vote for McCain because he is white. Just as some folks will vote for Obama because he is black. Do the math though, that's scary. As for the Minister, he will never be silent and he always speak the truth as he sees it. We're constantly comparing ourselves to the mobilization/support in the yt community. Yet, we continue to perpetuate foolishness to our own demise. I'm not willing to sacrifice "us" just to put us in office. I am equally against sacrificing "us" just to NOT put us in office. When the country is having good times, we are totally 'irrevelant' or seen as lazy or any other negative connotation that people like to associate with us. Now the country is up sh*ts creek with the war and recession and everybody wants to sing kumbaya. lol. Sorry for the cyncism. I totally understand that BO has do what he needs to do to win this nomination but unfortunately, black folks will have do the conceding as usual. I just feel that if we had a more stronger political base or economic clout, then candidates will have to make some concessions if they want our vote. But as far as our issues, specifically -- we can solve our own issues if we (as Lou Myers so simply stated when I had the pleasure of spending an evening with him) "We need to Buy & Sell from each other"....and if you think about it we used to before intergration. Post integration, generationally -- we don't take each other seriously, we don't respect our elders, who have experienced far worse and thrived...no they did not become millionaires but in most cases, a great deal of them have transfered far more money and a s s e t s than any generation after them. Somehow the later genrations thought they arrived and we are going backwards quicker than and forward thinking movements of the past! And for those who don;t know who Lou Meyers is...he played Mr. Gaines on A Different World and if you go back and look at re-runs of that show, you'll see that the "real" education (life lessons) took place right in his greasy spoon!

Comment: The Obama campaign is distributing two dishonest mailers in Ohio. The first mailer falsely claims that Hillary said NAFTA was a "boon" to the economy. Hillary never said that. The Obama campaign is basing the quote on a 2006 Newsday article that characterized her views this way without any substantiation. In fact, Newsday recently said that the Obama campaign's use of their article was "misleading." The Politico called the Obama campaign's use of the quote "bogus." The second mailer from the Obama campaign mimics Harry and Louise ads that the health care industry used to scare people into opposing universal health care. The ad claims "Hillary's health care plan forces everyone to buy insurance, even if you can't afford it." She goes on to say: Here are the facts: Sen. Obama fails to mention Hillary's plan cuts costs just as aggressively as Sen. Obama, if not more so. Hillary's plan contains more generous subsidies than the Obama plan. Noted health expert Ken Thorpe of Emory University concluded that under the Hillary plan, everyone will be able to afford coverage. The Obama plan leaves 15 million people out, which drives up costs because everyone else ends up subsidizing their emergency care. Paul Krugman called the mailer "ugly" and "destructive."

Comment: CreneeJ there is an acceptable degree of political mudslinging. For instance, Hillary has repeatedly stated that Obama's plan will leave 15 million out but it fails to mention that that number has been grossly exagerrated because and is based on projections...not hard numbers. You only need one "expert" to validate or disvalidate a claim. The Obama camp has healthcare experts who dispute the 15 million left out claim, Clinton has the opposite. Since you seem to be concerned w/facts, please visit http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/the_plank/archive/2007/ 12/03/so-about-that-15-million-figure-you-ve-been-hear ing.aspx. This article is seen as the earliest source of where the "15 million" came from. In it he says, "In the course of making my case, I thought it important to convey some sense of scale. So, based on my reporting, I suggested somewhere around 15 million people—or roughly a third of the people now without insurance—might still lack coverage, even if Obama's plan were implemented. It was a crude, back-of-the-envelope calculation based on a projection. And all projections contain some uncertainty because they make assumptions, some of which might turn out to be wrong. In other words, the figure should not be treated as gospel."***Now the original article was the one used by the Clintons as support of their 15 million contention. Is that far different from what Obama did in his misleading ad? No. Have you seen Obama command a press conferences expressing A Rage in Harlem over her disputed claims? No. Why? It's because he realizes this is all a part of the game. Then you have this basketcase over the weekend faking out America claiming to be so offended by it. She's completely nuts..sorry. Comment: Photo of Barack Obama "Dressed" in Kenya: Circulated by Clinton? ------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------- By Jackson Simpson Feb 25, 2008 A photo of Barack Obama "dressed" was snapped in 2006, and the picture is circulating all over the World Wide Web. The seemingly benign photo shows Barack Obama all dressed up as a Somali Elder, during his visit to Wajir, a rural area in northeastern Kenya, a report from Matt Drudge indicates. Barack Obama "Dressed" in Kenya: Circulated by Clinton? There are reports that the photo is being circulated by the Clinton campaign. Is it a dirty trick and if it is, what could possibly be wrong with the photograph? Most American leaders put on the regional garb no matter what part of the globe they travel to and though some look ridiculous, none of them have it used against them. *** The Drudge Report has the photo front and center with the headline "Clinton staffers circulate "dressed" Obama. In other words, the accusations are that the Clinton campaign is trying to use the photo to harm the Obama campaign after a very contentious weekend where Hillary was all over the map in her criticism of the frontrunner Barack Obama. There is just over a wee to go until it could all be over for Hillary, as the votes will be cast in Ohio and Texas. Is she really that desperate? Staffer says no, they had nothing to do with the release and distribution of the photo.

Comment: Creenj, I concede that if what you write is true, those flyers were dishonorable and I won't defend them and I admit that were the tables turned, BO folks would be in an uproar as well. (I try my best to be fair about things). But that still doesn't excuse what I believe is a far more egregious (sp?) act, those mailings with the BO flyer. I'm glad Drudge posted pics of other polys including HillC to balance the scale. The fact remains though it was a racist act playing on people's fears and bias. That's just completely unacceptable. Btw, what were people saying at the rally that "wasn't in the best interst of his campaign?" Just wondering...

Comment: Teigh> ITA. We let the power slip through our hands and totally misinterpreted what intergration was supposed to be about. I do agree that we can solve some of our issues but we do pay taxes like every other citizen and we should expect and demand to get those services, whether it's on a federal, state or city level. I don't honestly expect Obama to be all and end all things for us and we should not get duped into thinking that he can. But I do believe he deserves a chance. I don't think he can do everything that he promising to do but hopefully, he can fulfill some of them if he becomes president.

Comment: We're down to the wire. No one thus far has been able to penetrate Obama's armor. So, they are reaching for ANYTHING that they think will stop this train in it's tracks. The white vote is important to Obama. White people fear Farrakhan and Muslims- domestic and international. So, Obama has distanced himself on purpose from anything or anyONE who will mess with that white vote. It's politics. We just discussed the other day why O wasn't interested in Tavis' gathering. It was politically strategic for Obama NOT to attend. At this juncture, he cannot appear to be overtly associated with anything that will scare off his white voters. If Farrakhan had spoken sooner, that IOWA win may have been in jeopardy. The thing that makes Obama palatable to whites is that he's half white and appears to be on *everybody's* side. If he suddenly started attending Farrakhan rallies, how long do you think he'd be a viable candiadate? As Dr. King would say: How long? Not long.

Comment: FROM NEWSDAY SPIN CYCLE: As it turns out, the primary source is us - Newsday. Back in Sept. 2006, an abbreviated chart printed on Newsday's Spin Cycle page compared Hillary with her Democratic US Senate primary challenger Jonathan Tasini on a variety of issues. The issues chart included this: "FREE TRADE JONATHAN TASINI: Tasini favors scrapping the Bill Clinton-backed North American Free Trade Agreement, saying it drives down domestic wages. HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON: Clinton thinks NAFTA has been a boon to the economy, but voted against the Central American-Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement, saying it would drive jobs offshore." Because it's raised questions -- with Clinton criticizing Obama for making "false claims" in the mail piece -- we've looked into the chart. In it, we did not have the Clinton campaign using the word "boon" in describing NAFTA. The word was our characterization of how we best understood her position on NAFTA, based on a review of past stories and her public statements. Tasini called for scrapping NAFTA in 2006. She did not. We do not have a direct quote indicating her campaign told us she thought it was good for the economy at that time. Also, for that matter, Clinton's campaign did not contact us to question the item after it appeared in print. Obama's use of the citation in this way does strike us as misleading. The quote marks make it look as if Hillary said "boon," not us. It's an example of the kind of slim reeds campaigns use to try to win an office. That said, we should have been clearer. Dan Janison

He's a viable, serious candidate with a great knowledge of the issues facing this country and the desire to do something about it and unite everyone because every American has a stake in this country. He's a viable candidate who happens to be of the sienna-hued skin tone and he deserves a chance. No other president saved the world, and I don't see why Obama is expected to do so. However, he is in my opinion, the best candidate for President on many, many levels. Republicans think they own morality, yet they are warmongers; Democrats need to work on unification and admit that the government is here to assist us, not do the job for us. Who can get that message across better? Obama; and the thought of having the Clintons in the White House again, to even give Bill the CHANCE to engage in that tomfoolery is not sitting well with most of America. They had their chance; used it the way they thought was right; not it's time to move on. I know the Clintons would love to make history as the first husband wife presidents, but it wont' be good for the nation because they are much too polarizing. Basically, I'm through with Hillary because of her dripping sarcasm today. I'm not delusional voting for Obama; but I'm beginning to think I'm delusional for even supporting Hillary because she should know that a divided Democratic House cannot stand and because she's losing the fight is getting dirty. People are just tired of the gully politics; that's why the other candidates are getting ignored and Obama is looking better and better everyday. He is following the campaign script, but he doesn't have to throw anyone under the bus to seal his candidacy. GOBAMA 08.

Comment: Creenj - The mailers that Obama sent out are correct. Hillary Clinton did speak in support of NAFTA on several occasions...in several news articles and in her memoir, she called it a "legislative victory" for her husband. Do you research. Now she wants to backpedal. What she should say is that I spoke in support of my husband on NAFTA but I think it has been a failed policy, but ofcourse she cannot ever admit she was wrong. See her Iraq vote for confirmation on this flaw. Secondly, she did say that she would consider penalties including fining folks who didn't get the MANDATED insurance. That has been done in Massachusetts with their mandated plan. Nothing in the ad is a lie. Now her painting him as a Muslim when he is a Christian or her husband trying to make him in the "black candidate" by calling him Jesse Jackson II are personal attacks, not pointing out differences on substantive issues. You should be on Obama's side on that. Is there nothing Hillary does that offends you, even if it she uses race or religion to be divisive instead of battling on the issues? Even as a supporter of hers, you shouldn't herald those tactics.

Obama came out and said he did not agree with Donnie's words, he added a gay preacher to his concert, he has spoken out about homophobia, he is for civil unions the list goes on........but folks are still saying he is anti-gay and going with Clinton. My point is mud sticks. Its like exchanging words with someone and then one person says 'YOUR MOMMA', that picture is the equivalent of that. I predict tuesdays debate will be very heated cos of all the drama, unlike the last one where both of them were so cordial you'd think at some point Obama n' Clinton were going to french kiss lol.

Hillary supporters will not have to address Farakkhan comments on Obama because the Republications will have a field day with this throughout the entire race. Obama statement trying to distance himself from Farakkhan means absolutely nothing. People of Jewish descent were already suspicious of Obama. It goes without saying that Obama Jewish supporters have fallen back because of Farrakhan comments. I am sure that the Jewish Defense League and other Jewish organizations have already emailed their base instructing them to not support Obama. The question must be asked did Farrakhan do this deliberately. Farrakhan knows that he is a polarizing figure.

Even Al (clearly an Obama supporter) Sharpton refrained from outright saying he was supporting Obama, because he realizes that saying he supports Obama publicly would be perceived as a negative. The Michael Del Gorno show for the past week has been posing the question why the Obama story hasn't been getting the attention the McCain story has. Comment: See this is what I am talking about … Monday, February 25, 2008 WASHINGTON (JTA) -- Even as U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) solidifies his status as the Democratic front-runner with victories Tuesday in Wisconsin and Hawaii, he is facing a new line of attack from some Jewish circles regarding his advisers on foreign policy. In recent weeks, writers associated with several right-wing media outlets have taken aim at what they describe as anti- Israel voices advising Obama on Middle East issues, spurring a rash of mass e-mails voicing similar concerns. http://www.jta.org/cgi-bin/iowa/news/article/200802202 0080220brzezinskipower.html Obama cannot win the white house without Jewish support (meaning votes and money). I don’t care how many Black people vote for him he needs the Jewsih vote and he will not get it in November. First it’s no comment on his church giving Farrakhan an award, then its his advisors on Foreign policy, and now it Farrakhan commenting on his campaign.

Fortunately, none of that became public. Also, 'if' she truly felt that this is the first time in her life she is proud, how exactly is that out of line for you...out of line regarding what? Just wondering. Do you honestly think the media didn't pick up on the Michelle comments? Well what were Cindy McCain, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, Buchanan etc responding to all last week? Stop playing..lol There will never be a political campaign free from mudslinging. That's why opposition research is such a major part of it. If you knew the inner workings of a political campaign, you would probably have a stroke. Re: the photo, Maggie Williams, (her campaign manager) has yet to deny that they released the photo to drudge. Instead she just said that the Obama camp should be ashamed. That isn't much of a denial so we are left to infer the possible obvious. FORTITUDE, is it too much to ask that you do your own research re: things you accuse Obama of doing/not doing. Obama did issue a statement about his church. One of the MANY places you can view his response is @ http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/01/15/ob ama_decries_farrakhan_statem_1.html?hpid=topnews. In your attempt to prove your point, you end up seeming like a hack. How much easier was it to find an article located on the "Jewish Telegraphic Agency's" website than it was to find a response from Obama about the F'Khan award? Yet, you didn't even bother. Comment: Freedom of speech is the concept of being able to speak freely without censorship. The right to freedom of speech is guaranteed under international law through numerous human rights instruments, notably under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights, although implementation remains lacking in many countries. The synonymous term freedom of expression is sometimes preferred, since the right is not confined to verbal speech but is understood to protect any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used. In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country, although the degree of freedom varies greatly. Industrialized countries also have varying approaches to balance freedom with order. For instance, the United States First Amendment theoretically grants absolute freedom, placing the burden upon the state to demonstrate when (if) a limitation of this freedom is necessary. In almost all liberal democracies, it is generally recognized that restrictions should be the exception and free expression the rule; nevertheless, compliance with this principle is often lacking.

Name: khufu
Comment: Freedom of speech is crucial in any participatory democracy, because open discussions of candidates are essential for voters to make informed decisions during elections. It is through speech that people can influence their government's choice of policies. Also, public officials are held accountable through criticisms that can pave the way for their replacement. The US Supreme Court has spoken of the ability to criticize government and government officials as "the central meaning of the First Amendment." New York Times v. Sullivan. But "guarantees for speech and press are not the preserve of political expression or comment upon public affairs, essential as those are to healthy government." Time, Inc. v. Hill.

Name: khufu
Comment: FORT...I could be wrong and Iam open to being corrected. What is your intent with your comments about Farrakhan and Obama. Are you criticizing Farrakhan?

Name: khufu
Comment: One justification for free speech is a general liberal or libertarian presumption against coercing individuals from living how they please and doing what they want. However, a number of more specific justifications are commonly proposed. For example, Justice McLachlin of the Canadian Supreme Court identified the following in R. v. Keegstra, a 1990 case on hate speech: 1. Free speech promotes "The free flow of ideas essential to political democracy and democratic institutions" and limits the ability of the state to subvert other rights and freedoms 2. It promotes a marketplace of ideas, which includes, but is not limited to, the search for truth 3. It is intrinsically valuable as part of the self-actualization of speakers and listeners 4. It is justified by the dangers for good government of allowing its suppression.

I don't think most blacks who are supporting Obama have an issue w/those who don't...most of us have issues w/how the criticism against Obama is leveled. Your earlier posts is a great example because you posted factually inaccurate information about Obama BECAUSE he's not your choice candidate..not because you want to respect the fact that over 85% of blacks support him. I will not vote for Hillary BUT it would be ridiculous for me to suggest that nothing she has done has impressed me. Being a woman in a man's game is impressive enough. I guess your standards are much higher for blacks. The "solutions" you refer to are the same (give or take) on both Clinton's and Obama's websites. Again, if you want people to respect your vote, it would be prudent for you to do the same by making sure your opposition is based on facts...not talking points.

Man Stabs Brother-In-Law Over Election by FOXNews.com Monday, February 25, 2008 The cut-throat world of presidential politics usually doesn’t go this far to get its point across. But Jose Ortiz, 28 — a Hillary Clinton supporter — is behind bars after stabbing his Barack Obama-supporting brother-in-law, Sean Shurelds, following a political argument, according to KYW1060.com. “One is a supporter of Barack Obama, the other is a supporter of Hillary Clinton, and an argument of words turned bloody when one brother-in-law tried to choke the other and the victim then responded with a knife and stabbed his brother-in-law in the stomach,” Montgomery County, Pa., District Attorney Risa Furman said, according to KYW. Shurelds was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and police allegedly found the weapon in a dishwasher at the Collegeville home where the two brawled. Ortiz faces felony %*$ault charges and was being held on $20,000 bond. KYW reports that if Ortiz is convicted of the felony charge, he won’t be able to vote. On a side note: Voter registration records reveal that Ortiz, who supports Clinton, is registered Republican.
