Comment: I will only be surprised if billary doesn't pick this up and run with it. To me its as much a non issue as Farrakhans positive remarks about Obama.

Name: NYCsoul
Comment: McNasty> It maybe a non-issue but her statements are nice. Somehow, I think if Dr. Betty or Malcolm were alive, they would back BO too.

Comment: This is good news. We need all the endorsements we can get. Obama Barack hasn't forgotten what the American Dream is. Aren't we all beat up from the breakdown of our families the men in prisons, the lack of equal educational opportunities; the lack of community social programs; low salaries; raises not keeping up with the cost of living; the foreclosures, the downsizing, the layoffs, the unemployment, teachers not getting paid enough and marginal teachers teaching our children; the health care costs; corporate greed, the white men making all the money; the thugs making all the money; stolen pensions; the lack of facilities for the elderly; a bleeding Social Security System? We just want to be decent human beings; work, provide for and have time for our families. We got no time for war and divisiveness. We were divided in the 20th Century and it got us nowhere. The Republicans' platform is about FIGHTING the War. They are against a woman having the right to choose, yet they would think nothing of killing that woman's child via capital punishment or sending them off to fight a war for their benefits. We're tired of that too. The children being brought into this world will inherit a tremendous amount of debt for this travesty. And it's time for it to be over. GOBAMA 08! Sometimes when we're so low, the only way to go us up. GOBAMA 08. Let's win this thing outright.

Comment: why should this be a negative? I dont even think it will be perceived as a negative. Methingks those Black folks who see this as a negative might have issues If Hillary tries to make this an issue, she will lose female support as Dr Betty Shabazz is held in HIGH ESTEEM

Comment: I'm glad Obama has a Muslim name. Most Muslim are peaceful despite US media potrayal. And it's nice to see that African Americans from all walks of life are providing endorsement to him, not for the sake of soley his skin color but because he is but one potrayal of the best of the African American collective.

Comment: NYC I too think her remarks are nice and I am glad that she spoke them. By my remark I mean that the billary machine that seems to take parts of Obama's life and make something else out of them whether positive or not or whether or not it is directly connected to him. Billary at this point is grasping at straws and is sinking fast so there is no telling what kind of spin, if any, she will put on this. Malcom X is just as controversial as Farrakhan because at one time he called all white folks the devil and there are some that will never forget that no matter that we celebrate the man today.

Comment: I'm proud that so many people are supporting our future president, but I know Hillary's dirty, conniving as*s is gonna bring this story up as a negative. That's why he lit her as*s up last night! She is so petty!

Comment: sigh Obama does not have a Muslim name His middle name is Arabic His first Name, while probably Kenyan is also Hebrew (look for it in Old Testament) and Obama is Kenyan

Comment: GOOBAMA!!

Name: mcctusk
Comment: khufu> It would be a negative for anyone in the old guard, but they don't really know how to perceive Obama, since he doesn't fit into any of the silos yts have created to categorize us. YTs who support him put alot of stock in the fact that he was raised by a white woman. Blacks put alot of stock in the fact that he is black AND has an unmistakably black wife. Progressives take stock in the fact that he is worldly and well educated. Conservatives say that they don't know alot about him and that he is an empty suit because they can't wrap their minds around the fact that he is not any of the things that they think of when they think about African Americans. If we can sit at a table with Putin, and cut deals with Kim Jong, member of the notorious Axis of evil, then Malaak Shabazz can endorse the next POTUS. It is time to CHANGE all of that backwards thinking about who we vilify. White folks gave us that list too!

Comment: WASHINGTON - Civil rights leader John Lewis has dropped his support for Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential bid in favor of Barack Obama, according to a newspaper report Wednesday. ADVERTISEMENT Lewis, a Democratic congressman from Atlanta, is the most prominent black leader to defect from Clinton's campaign in the face of near-majority black support for Obama in recent voting. He also is a superdelegate who gets a vote at this summer's national convention in Denver. "It's been a long, hard difficult struggle to come to where I am," Lewis told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an interview. "But when I am, as a superdelegate, I plan to cast my vote at the convention for Barack Obama." Lewis' constituents supported Obama roughly 3-to-1 in Georgia's Feb. 5 primary. His endorsement had been a coveted prize among the Democratic candidates thanks to his standing as one of the last major civil rights leaders of the 1960s. Sen. Byron Dorgan of North Dakota endorsed Obama on Wednesday, citing his record on trade

Name: bigchassie
Comment: Senator Obama has never felt ... that NAFTA was good for America," Dorgan said in a campaign conference call with reporters. Dorgan said Obama has supported key trade issues. "He and I feel the same way. We both believe in trade and plenty of it. We just insist it that it be fair to our country — the rules be fair." NAFTA, the free trade agreement with Canada and Mexico, is unpopular with blue-collar workers whose votes are critical in the Democratic primary Tuesday in Ohio. Obama has won 11 straight primaries and caucuses since Super Tuesday, increased his advantage in the all-important delegate count and has attracted the support of his congressional colleagues. On Tuesday, he secured the endorsement of one-time presidential candidate Sen. Chris Dodd of Connecticut. Clinton has been endorsed by 13 of her Senate colleagues, Obama 10. Dorgan was an ally of former President Clinton and a vocal critic of President Bush. As chairman of the Democratic Policy Committee, he has led hearings on government accountability issues related to the Iraq war and hurricanes on the Gulf Coast. Dorgan has built a reputation for championing populist farm programs, criticizing Republican free-trade policies and %*$ailing big business. He made headlines in 2005 when he called for a windfall profits tax on major oil companies. Last year, he authored a measured to block funding of a Department of Transportation pilot program required under NAFTA that would have opened the U.S. to cross-border long-haul Mexican tractor trailers. The program was opposed by the Teamsters Union, among others. Email Story IM Story Printable View Yahoo! Buzz RECOMMEND THIS STORY Recommend It: Average (310 votes) » Recommended Stories
