Comment: I am interested to hear what Cosby has to say also, cause I did not see anything wrong with what he said the first time. I mean really people we should not be fighting each other we should be looking for ways to make a difference. I mean dang let the dirty laundry out, do not get offended do something different! If Cosby is talking about you just say OUCH and move on and get it together!

Comment: Don't get me wrong but Mr. Dyson is wasting his energy and as an intelligent learned black man could better be used to continue our civil rights struggles or mentoring young black men. Continuing to go after Mr. Cosby makes me think he has lost his mind. I have never thought that the black poor were as.saulted when Cosby finally said what the majority thought. This mission Dyson is on only serves as an excuse for those that felt 'as.saulted' to continue not taking responsibility, to not become educated to move themselves up out of the lower echelon's of our community - to not make the effort to do better. How this educated man could align himself with the negative aspects of hip hop simply because Cosby pointed them out is way beyond my understanding. Mr. Dyson we need you in our community but we need you to rethink your priorities - we need teachers, we need better role models.

Comment: Dyson is just an empty-wagon that I just don't understand. Cosby just speaks on WHAT WE NEED TO HEAR. Yes, there is a proble within our communites and some don't realize it. At least Cosby has come to speak to us and donated money & time to our commnities. Dyson...CHILL or do something positive and not attack those letting us know our negative way of life is NOT the way things are supposed to be.

Comment: Dyson's got way too much mofo time on his hands...let it go already...

Comment: Dyson really should keep his mouth closed. The man is just not all that.

Comment: ok, i love dr. dyson, but i am tired of his tirade against cosby. people may disagree with cosby's choice of words, but i for one am glad to see that he is apparently very passionate about the black community in america, and about wanting to change the direction it's collectively going. the bottom line to his message - which dyson should agree with - is it starts with US and no one else.

Comment: Brotha Dyson, could better spend his time lecturing or writing another book. Cos is a victim blaming idiot. Dyson does not have to follow in his footsteps by doing a rap album. Cos simply identified negative behavior of black people without addressing the underlying racism. Cos talked bad about black folks but offered no solutions. WTF is that!!!! People need to realize that racist white people cite Cos and others when they make the argument that racism and slavery are in the past and we should just get over it.

Name: McNasty
Comment: His solution called for them to start raising their children right but over and above that, stop having kids they couldn't support. His solution was to pay as much or more attention in school as they do the latest over priced fashions and foul as.s videos. He did offer them up solutions, what he didn't offer was hands on as.sistance and that just isn't his responsibility.

Comment: LAFFIN' MY FUCKKIN' A$$ OFF! Is dude serious? No way this guy or Bill will make a rap album. Who the fuckk would buy that shyt? LMFAO!

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: This whole Dyson/Cosby thing is a HAM and those raps albums will be a waste of air space.

Name: jess
Comment: Dyson's 49 year old azz truly needs to let it go. Every time he goes off about Cosby, he makes himself look more ridiculous. Responding a rap album that Cosby MIGHT be making? How unbelievably juvenile. The %*$ertion that he has way to much time on his hands is dead on correct.

Name: blackdragon
Comment: First of all, I support Bill Cosby. He is right. We need to take responsibility for our actions, fix the problems in our communtities and not blame others for what goes in our communities. Second, Michael Eric Dyson is a moron. This guy constantly apologizes for bad behavior, whether it's in (c)rap music, in a black community or Black EXPLOITATION Television. His attacks on Mr. Cosby is ridiculous. He's making himself look foolish. Instead of attacking Mr. Cosby, Mr. Dyson should work with him.

Name: Train
Comment: Dr. Dyson is full of shyt because he makes it like doing stupid azz things can't be helped and he's wrong. I agree 1000% with Dr. Cosby because at the end of the day the problems in blacks america are self inflicted.

Name: Kofi
Comment: So, Train and others on this board following your logic the problems of poor black people are self inflicted and the result of irresponsible and/or bad behavior. If that is indeed the case what can account for this behavior besides being black? Is there something about being poor and black that makes people act out? What would make them stop acting out? I guess racism is a thing of the past. There are no more predatory lending that sucks wealth out of the black community. There is no racial profiling. The schools in black neighborhood are just as good as everywhere else these black kids just don't want to learn. Black unemployement is twice that of white unemployment because some black people just don't want to work. Black women get breast cancer at lower rates than white women but they die at twice the rate of white women. Its not an issue of health care access, these women just don't take care of themselves. Yeah, racism is gone. I guess the folks in Jena LA who hung that noose in the tree for white kids just didn't get the memo.

Name: blackdragon
Comment: Kofi, just stop. Yes, racism exists. If a situation like racial profiling occurs, it should be pointed out. However, that does not mean blacks should not be responsible for what they do. Public education in the USA is not very good compared to other countries. I know this because I was a high school student at a hugh school that is now being closed due to poor performance. But that didn't stop me from graduating. You're making this racial by saying "they don't want to learn because they're black." No. There are young blacks who want to learn. The problem is education is not being valued in black communities. What is being valued? Being a rapper, being a basketball player, getting a new pair of Air Jordan sneakers, having sex with numerous females and making money in ways that are detrimental. Whether you want to believe it or not, this isn't a racial issue. This is a value issue. Older and young folks need to re-install that value for education, getting a good grade, graduating and going to college back into the minds of our people. And this is coming from a 21-year-old black man who is going to graduate from college in June with an Associates degree in business administration. As for health in black communities, that's the result of not exercising, eating bad food and a poor diet. That's a health issue. As a said before, racism exists. It's just that not every situation is race-related.

Comment: Yo Mc DYCE...Chill on that man!! Ole COZ ain't trying to hear THAT or ANYTHING younger people are saying!! The thing about the "ELDERS" like COZ is that they don't seem to want to do what is necessary for ANY relationship to be a GOOD relationship... COMMUNICATE instead of TALK DOWN TO SOMEONE!! In my opinion, The reason the "youth" are WHERE they are is the "ELDERS" DROPPED THE BALL A LONG TIME AGO, And NOW they COMPLAIN about the AFTERMATH as if THEY HAD NOTHING to do with IT!!!

Name: Taurusingr
Comment: P.S.....But don't yall think Mc Dyce DOESN'T KNOW how or is ABOVE trying to make some money!!.... Pimpin, pimpin!!

Name: Train
Comment: Kofi, what the hell does breat cancer have to do with the horrible state of the inner cities of this country? I'am talking about the low value placed on education, the gang bangers, drug dealers, baby mama/daddy dramas. C'mon my brotha you can't blame this shyt on racism...it's self inflicted like I stated earlier. The younger generation puts an emphasis on being "down" and if you speak proper english then you're "acting white". What kind of bullshyt is that? I never said racism didn't still exist in this country but it's dayum sure like it used to be and anybody who still thinks that is full of shyt.

Comment: breast, my bad.

Comment: > Train, Dragon, My point was to take Cosby's argument to it logical conclusion. The premise of his argument is: the majority of problems in the black community are self inflicted. Dragon wrote " As for health in black communities, that's the result of not exercising, eating bad food and a poor diet." This statment explicitly states health issues in AA communities are the result of bad choices. (ie self inflicted) My point is there are structural and overt racial barriers that are harmful to black communities. No one is arguing against taking responsibility for one's own behavior. To fully understand any human behavior it must be view in the political, social, economic and racial context. Cos took a complex issue, made a straw man argument (ie grossly oversimplified it) and then beat up on the straw man. Taurusingr made an excellent point. We elders dropped the ball and are now reaping the consequences. Those kids who act out, gang bang, don't go to school, have wrapped materialistic values those are our children. We are "those" people that Cos was talking about. As Africans throughout the diaspora we are all connected. Either we hang together or surely we will hang separately.

Name: Train
Comment: >Kofi, I don't have any children so I'm not taking any kind of blame for the way these kid's act. That starts at home with upbringing and raising the kid's in a proper manner.
