Comment: I can't think of a better person to play Rita Marley! Rita continued to be married to Bob through I know what had to be some tumultous times. Man spent half the time making/playing music and the other half making babies!. Also, I thought Rohan was married to someone else? I guess that explains how she ended up giving birth recently to her 5th child.

Comment: JFfromMO Lauryn has exhibited strange to bizarre behavior for the last few years. Check out her last film project where she could have captivated the audience but instead left us all looking a little crazy.

Comment: Excellent choice of Lauren to play Rita..Mama Marley is right about one thing, Lauren saw her life as Rita's..She sooo wanted to have Marley children, and did at any expense, which may have caused her some sanity..I don't know how Rita actually kept it all together even when she knew Bob had inpregnated numerous women..Can't wait for the movie!

Comment: I can see Lauryn in that role, but she hasn't been right since she started having all of those babies. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but Rohan is married - to someone else.

Comment: Some [underscore SOME] people from the Carribbean will call each other "husband" and "wife" when there is a long-term relationship without having the ceremony. My daughter's father referred to me as his "wife", I looked at him like WTF?? So, it ain't really that deep. I'm glad to see that Rita got love for Lauryn, as do I. . . trouble and 5 children notwitstanding. Lauryn is a great artist. Perhaps she'll reclaim her place, perhaps not, but I'll always have mad love for her as I do, MJJ, Whitney, MJB, Janet.

Comment: What made Rita Marley stay with Bob when he was out there throwing his "marley" around the block. Dude loved women, that much was obvious.

Comment: Train, I believe she was emotionally/financially dependent and stuck on the status of being his wife regardless of whether he cheated on her or not. I know plenty of everyday women who do the same thing. They are usually in denial about the reality of their situation as well as the risks.

Comment: Gingerg Rita got with Marley long before he had a name so it began as puppy love and grew into many concubines and many many more children. Rita in pimpdom would be considered his bottom woman.

Comment: Train sometimes you love who you love regardless of how much dog they have in them. Where was she gonna go anyway? Every corner she turned had some kind of Marley on it thanks to ole Bob.

Comment: I guess we'd have to look at the definition of love, then. If you love me, you respect and treat me well. That does not include sleeping with other women/men and expecting me to accept that because we are married. Now, some folks may differ with me on that. I know a woman who says that your husband should be your first priority (over kids and everything) and you stand by him regardless of what he does. Her husband has a long history of hitting on and being rejected by other women, but she is the wife.

Comment: The definition of love is as different as each individual, although there is only one love. When you start out too young for the undertaking you tend to get caught up, after that I guess you just take it as it comes. I think Rita satisfied herself that no matter what he did the house she lived in was the one he always came home to. I couldn't imagine living the life she did, but thats just me.

Comment: Yeah, come home after he's through impregnating women all over the country. No, thanks. I couldn't respect or stay with a man like that.
We would have to cut a deal (with me keeping the house and other things) of course.

Comment: gingerg>Co-sign. Rohan has yet to make an honest woman of her. Lauryn is in serious denial about a lot of things. For one, she CAN'T ACCEPT when a man doesn't want to commit to her. I read that Wyclef refused to leave his wife for her. The fact is, she has no morals or scruples. She lives in a fantasy world pretending like this relationship is deep and serious. Sad thing is, it isn't.

Comment: gingerg>Concerning Rohan impregnating other women. My sentiments exactly. See, for all of Hill's success, she has never really learned to love and respect herself.

Comment: You have to read Rita's book to understand. After a while, they grew apart. She bought a house seperate from him and left him in his house to do want he wanted By that time, they were more like friends. She even had a boyfriend herself and also had a child by the boyfriend. So even though the were married, they lead seperate lives and respected each other. She ended up raising all of his children by other women with her own children becuase when the women realized Bob was not going to just be with them, they really weren't interested in raising the child anymore and RIta would take the child in. It's deep. Read the book.

Comment: SouthernYankee>Yeah, that's fascinating. But, the majority of sisters here in the States would keep and raise their children whether the father was a part of their lives or not. To use children as some kind of pawn like that is despicable!!!
