Comment: I don't know, I've know a few folks who've had this surgery and none of them had to wear shades. Not everyone is an automatic candidate for this surgery. You have to meet certain criteria and your corneas have to be a certain thickness. but since they let him film the procedure that must mean they felt they knew what they were doing. time will tell. hope all goes well.

Comment: PgDn - There are some people (most that I know of) have to wear shades for a while afterward because their eyes are still sensitive to the light and are actually still changing. My cousin had it and your sight is better right after the surgery, but it continues to get better for a period of time after.

Comment: McNasty that was a very insensitive comment. Just suppose you lose yours, what then...be careful what you say out your mouth...because you may not be able to read anymore of these comments....then see who will care for you....

Comment: PRDC that was a very truthful comment and I don't need to be cautioned on what to say. This is a message board where I am free to say damn near anything . . . . and I do! As far as my sight - it's fine and until/unless that changes I'm not gonna stress over what COULD happen. Keep it movin!

Comment: When I was 7 or 8, my cousin accidently hit me in the eye with a clod of dirt (we were playing in a plowed corn field), and since that day my eyes have been around 20/200. I wore some dorky glasses for awhile, but soon after get my first job at 14 as a cook at a fast-food restaurant, I bought some contacts and have worn them ever since. But recently I decided to get laser eye surgery and I had my first surgery a year ago this month. It has been something of an odessey. They first gave me something where they corrected one eye (the right) more than the other so that I would be able to read without glasses. But they undercorrected the right eye, so I went back in in July to get it strengthen. That was better, but the thing of having one eye much more corrected for distance vision than the other eventually led to some severe bouts of vitiligo, something I had never experienced in my life. So in October I had the so-called reading eye (left) corrected to match the distance eye. That was much better, and I can still read without glasses (go figure; another example of doctors not quite knowing what they're talking about). Still the left eye has settled at about 20/30, 20/25, so I'd like one more tune up to get it to 20/20. The doctor said we could visit that issue in April, by which time he says the left eye should be fully healed from the October procedure. Would I do it again? Yeah, I think so. It's a marginally better situation than the contacts. But it will be significantly better once I get the left eye to 20/20. I just want to be sure enough cornea is left for lasering (given that so much was shaved away to get from 20/200 to the current 20/30-20/25).

Comment: I co-sign with McNasty and say the following (at the risk of offending anyone): Too bad. I hope he gets better. If not, then I hope Janet bails. I find it very difficult to believe she's in a real relationship with him anyway.

Comment: Grace it may be a relationship similar to the one that S.Epatha Merkerson had with Terrence Howard in Lackawanna Blues. You remember when the little guy asked her why she stayed she said sometimes there is something between two people that only they understand. While I don't think either of them are what I would consider deep thinkers, it's possible that its real and deeper than we understand. I guess that might be why she is reportedly shopping for a wedding dress.

Comment: I agree with you McNasty, Janet may have learned some serious life issues after her other marriages and men and have found something in this man that gives her peace and security on the inside, that she did'nt have before with the others - that happenes with a lot of people - they realize pretty boy floyd was only that - pretty....

Comment: Gurlfrand I have a co worker that married a career military man even in spite of the red flags and she still can't see that he's a gay man that was looking for a beard. He's cute as hell but when she showed me her wedding and honeymoon pictures my gaydar went off like crazy. She presents as a woman in the know but it is obvious she got stuck on his looks. They are separated and keep talking about getting back together but it ain't happening!

Comment: DC - I know someone who went through the same thing but fortunately, they didn't have to go back as many times as you have...one thing they do not tell you when getting this surgery is that it will take more than once to correct the problem. You certaintly have to do your research when choosing a surgeon in this procedure. This type of surgery has not been around that long and there isn't much experience. As for me, I will wait another 10 years and will only get it done, IF medically necessary. Hope that you are doing well. As for Jermaine, I hope that he is not having any problmes and wish him all the best of health.

Comment: McNasty -- you may not need to be cautioned but I think you would WANT to be. I'm aware of what type of board it is and yes you can, but when that table turns...all I have to say is remember what I said and it will happen. People like you have to be shown not necessarily heard. So within a few months....we'll see if you will be able to see and there is no need to stress, but your words will come back to YOU.....

Comment: PRDC again if I need to be cautioned it will take more than you to do it. As for if/when the tables turn - I can't worry about something that hasn't happened and don't intend to. People like you need to check yourself and find out why you're always coming to this board telling others what they need. Seems to me if you spent that time paying attention to yourself you'd be hella better off!

Comment: kidfree, that's not necessarily true that it will take more than one laser surgery to correct your vision. my vision was 20/400 in my right eye and about 20/500 or so in my left - couldn't see CRAP without my glasses/contacts!! lolol i had lasik in 2005 and that's the best money i've ever spent. i had ONE procedure and my vision was and still is 20/10 in both eyes. i haven't had one moment of complications or anything. i haven't had to go back for anything and i've had no problems of any kind. i recommend it to everyone!!
