Comment: This whole idea for the film is bullshyt, just like that stupid azz movie "Soul Man". I still couldn't believe that no one could tell that he was some white boy wearing a wig. Stupid azz mf's. When I saw that flick on cable one day I was like WTF. I bet stupid azz blacks will flock to see this movie thinking that's it's progress.

Comment: The storyline is about a white actor who is hired to play a black man in a film. There are some light-skinned black actors who could have played the role, but then the same thing could have been said that there are enough white actors to fill the part. It's a film. You can't judge it if you haven't seen it. I really hope the Sharptons and Jacksons don't make this another unnecessary cause.

Comment: This is slightly off topic but what amazes me about Robert Downey jr. is the chances that he was given to jumpstart his career after his addiction. If it was black actor, he would be flipping burgers at McDonald's again. It never ceases to amaze me how forgiving the audience is towards yts with addiction than blacks.

Comment: Stopzmadness>>>if that's the storyline, well, then I suppose in order for the storyline to be AUTHENTIC, they had to do the real thing and get a white man to play the part in order for the transformation to be believable. Maybe the criticism should go to the writers/producers of the movie for even coming up with the idea. What's the point of such a story? That's like scientists who tried to show that Blacks were biologically inferior. Nothing wrong with research, but when such research is racially biased, what's the point?

Comment: Interesting premise for a movie. I know this is suppose to be satire but hey it might work if you close your eyes and pretend really hard and assume that there is actually work for Black actors. I think it would be better if Robert Downey Jr. played a White man who pretends to be a Black rapper in order to get a job as a Black actor. Now that would be funny.

Comment: Stiller told..."trying to push it as far as you could..um humm..without resorting to Blackface and shucking and grinning. Theshow that this isn't suppose to be an offensive film you state that in one scene Lazarus tries to bond with a real AA by quoting....from the Jeffersons..no need for Sharpton or anyone else to march; just don't support it!!

Comment: Well I hear all of u guys comments, but I think yall are missing the point of the movie unless i miss read somewhere???? I think Stiller is tryin to bring to life how mess up hollywood really is! They would rather choose a white man and paint his face black instead of hiring a black man! Stiller is showing in a comic way how that is totally crazy cause a white man no matter how hard he tries could never be able to play a AA male no matter how hard he tries! We know most of the roles in Hwood is meant for AA males to play but they are continually passed over for a white man! Like I said I do not know.

Comment: I have read the script, and while I knew the white actor playing a black role could potentially be a problem, in order for the point to be made (that some actors go WAY too far when trying to "be" the character), it had to be a white person playing the part. You see the character "black" first, but then when the backstory is revealed, you see that he is really white. It's more of a stab at the ridiculous things actors do (gain a ton of weight, lose a ton of weight etc.), for a role. I personally was more offended when Angelina Jolie put on blackface when you have talented black actresses out there who can't pay someone to hire them for a role. On top of that, she gets nominated for an NAACP award! That is what everyone should be up at arms about because they were actually serious with that one. At least this is meant to be a joke aimed more at white people than black.
