Comment: This man was a talent for which there are no words to describe. He was most prolific and his words and music will stand the test of time. It's hard to pick a favorite or most important Curtis Mayfield song, but I would say that his influence on Bob Marley was unquestionable. People get ready, there's a change a comin; you don't need no ticket, you just get on board. You don't need no ticket, you just THANK THE LORD. Curtis, I thank God for the Makings of You.

Comment: I am looking forward this. This is long overdue. IMO, Curtis is the formidable equivalent to Dylan. He could write anything and everything with passion and intensity. There was also a 'gentleness' and 'subtleness' to his music that I don't think we'll ever see again.

Comment: ditto to both of you realuv and NYC - Curtis was the "Prophet of R&B"

Comment: Guess Curtis wasn't 'scandalous' enough to warrant any kind of love here despite him being sampled by numerous singers like MJB and other rappers. This is why it's so important to perserve our rich musical legacy. Gurlfrand> True indeed!
