Comment: BJ never demonstrated concern for the AA community so why do we care what he says? . . . . . we don't [move along, nothing to see here]

Comment: Darryl James has an excellent column this week on "sell outs" which includes BJ

Comment: NYGGA PLEASE! The fact that you said they don't want "Bill and Hillary" in power again speaks volumes to your decision-making process. Bill AND Hillary? Or Just Hillary? Stupid azz.

Comment: This man is a blazed faced fool and the media needs to quit putting his black as.s in print! He outright lied because he said he WAS NOT referring to Obama's teenage drug use - now it was a joke. This is the same man that during one of the Stone Soul gatherings here in DC was being and picketed by hundreds of his employees here and that's when I became aware of him. He has never been a fair business man, he has never paid fair wages, health care or been considerate to the neighborhood BET was built in - he paid the comedians on the comedy show $150 and that didn't include travel money or hotel accommodations. They took it because a lot of them needed the exposure. This man has no real interest in the black community and neither does his high falutin wife who lives in horse country in virgina! He has no shame to continue speaking on behalf of sillary clinton and if he's not careful some fanatic is gonna blow the top of his head off.

Comment: I view these disparaging comments about Obama's appeal as an insult to me, as an O'Mama 08. I mean, really, to insinuate that a community who has contributed greatly to this society as inept when choosing a candidate. What am I stupid? Am I blind by the color of a man's skin. Frankly, I don't give a hooot what color a man's skin is. I am interested in the heart of a man. Obama's skin color may be wrong for America, but I believe his heart, Michelle's heart, the heart of his supporters is in recapturing and restoring an America in which we all can share in the pie. Not just the powerful and deep pocketed. The Reagan years have sold this country out to CEOS. Think about it. Everybody is some sort of financial ruin, yet executive pay is in the stratosphere. My thing is, why should only a certain portion of the population succeed. This is how it was before Reagan got his azz in there. Everyone had a shot. Now, it's all politics.

Comment: Oh boy. This board might have more than the TJ/Tavis board did yesterday. YIKES!

Name: Luke_Cage
Comment: LOL@JFromMO! I heard that's why the F4all board was so scarce yesterday luv. As usual McNasty, I couldn't agree with you more. I've only been in Va 10 years, and I remember hearing about Bob Johnson sometime in '98 or '99. I recall some coworkers talking about that DC gathering and the picketing at that event and this coming from his own folks at that. He can get pretty grimey when it comes to his business handlings. I think when it comes to our community, I don't believe he cares as much as he'd like for folks to believe.

Comment: Many of the old line black leaders feel that Obama is the best candidate -- for 2016 or 2012 -- but we got some political payback. We owe the Clintons because the Clintons were loyal to us while in the White House. Don't wanna say nuffin, but many of us who came up in the Clinton Years are struggling today, but I digress. But the thing is this, we've got a viable candidate of African descent for the POTUS. That's exciting. Why say that O wouldn't get anywhere if he wasn't black. O is where he is, like all of us, because of CHOICES he made. And apparently he made some good choices, some right choices for a portion of the population of the US. What about your success, Bob? Are you successful because you're black, or because you did what you had to do to get where you are? Well, so did Obama. If your loyalties are tying you up, got you all twisted, then that's on you. But don't insult those who helped make you a billionaire by supporting your baby BET. Look at your baby, now. Obama has earned the right to be where he is as you. You just made different choices. Your choice now to bash your brother is not a good look, however. And you've lost many points for that one. Both Obama's parents were Ivy League forward thinkers, as is Obama. Obama didn't have to struggle the way most AAs have had to struggle. He's had different issues. That doesn't make him less qualified to run this country or his supporters dumb enough only to see the color of his skin. We see the content of his character. And we see the content of the characters of haters and the underminers. GOBAMA 08. Don't insult me after all I've been through as black in America to say that if I don't stay loyal to the hand that's been around my neck, that I wouldn't succeed. BULL, and you're full of it. Can you support your candidate, without knocking a brother? No! That has nothing to do with the color of your skin. That's the content of your character. You and your ilk repulse me. If you don't like the, man, at least as a black man, brother to brother, RESPECT THE MAN and what he has been able to accomplish in his life.

Comment: And if Hillary was so smart, she'd be borrowing a page from the winner's campaign book. Not the loser Republicans who did her in. The damage she and SOME of her supporters will hurt both her and Obama in November. The acrimony and bitterness must stop. LAWD, please let Obama win this fair and square in this primary and get this negativity out of here. It has no place where we're going. No, while the show was good when it was on. Some might even call it a circus. The Bill and Hillary show. It was good, but trust me, I don't want to or need to see it again, especially after watching how Hillary has been running her campaign. If she's running the country like she's running her campaign, tsk, tsk, tsk. She hasn't shown political maturity. She can't win so she doesn't care what harm she inflicts. Shades of what her husband did to Bob Dole to get in and when it was all over -- the lies, the misrepresentations, etc. -- Bill jokingly said, it's only politics. He felt he had to skew the facts to get in. That's so Republinesque and after having my future hijacked by the Reagan Years and beyond, I say, no thanks. OBAMA 08

Comment: Some people think that just because they have worldly success that their opinion matters!! Or because they have money, what they say is important! I could careless about his Uncle Tom, Racist, As*! Yes, I said it. He is out to destroy his own people, why? Because we are stupid in his book. He sold BET to the white man and they are filling black kids heads with, violence, video hoes, and gays. This man is part of a conspiracy to bring down his own race! Sad, but true. As Tyra Banks would say it, HE CAN KISS MY BIG FAT A**!!!

Comment: Bob Johnson never struck me as a smart man, just someone who happened to be in the right place at the right time, got some videos on the air, found some white coat tails, and hung on for the ride. Indeed he may not only be not very smart, but a tad stupid even. Here he continues to make that point. What is it that is so astounding, to Bob or Geraldine, that Obama---a Black man and United States Senator in a country that has either enslaved Black people or legally placed them as second-class citizens for 85% of it's history---would appeal to Black people as a serious presidential candidate?

Comment: "They sort of dislike Hillary for her vote on the war. They don't want to see Bill and Hillary in power again," he said. "So Obama comes in and runs a smart campaign. But that's not the Second Coming, in my opinion, of John F. Kennedy, FDR or the world's greatest leaders. SO WHAT. BEEN THERE, DONE THAT. WE'RE ABOUT TO WRITE SOMETHING NEW FOR THE HISTORY BOOKS. It ain't over yet, Bob. None of us have seen the greatest. We've seen some good, but not the greatest. But for now, Obama is good enough. If Hillary was in Obama's place, it would be all good, right? Obama is supposed to wait for his "turn" and lose this opportunity for a few haters? Don't think so. There are no perfect situations, only perfect opportunities. This is the perfect opportunity for the likes of Obama and I don't blame him, Michelle or his supporters one bit. I'm glad they did. Because when I consider Hillary or McCain, that ole gray mare, I cringe. It's funny how when the oppressed rises, he takes on the properties of the oppressor. In the Spirit if Amistad, WE WANTS FREE. Freedom from the negativity, acrimony and insensitivity of the policies of the past. Am I looking at Mr. Obama as the Mr. Right Presidential Knight in Shining Armor on his white horse? No, but I'll sure take Underdog with no political baggage or ulterior motives on a Motorcycle. If you want to support your race or color, why is that a problem when it comes to black folk. White folk have been doing ot for years. The problems are caused by the "sellouts" and we all know that their work cannot get done without sellouts. GOBAMA 08

Comment: It's almost like Bob and other Hillary surrogates are in it to destroy their own chances. Fresh on the heels where Hillary has Barack in a bind with his (overblown) "bitter" comments now one of her people swoop in and snatch defeat from the jaws of apparent victory in PA by letting this loudmouth Johnson say this trash. I've never gotten it with people like Bob Johnson. Black people have been voting for white candidates since the Pilgrims were in diapers. No one has ever said that a candidate was successful because they were white. Suddenly a Black candidate is actually running a successful campaign and he's successful BECAUSE he's Black. What a bunch of damn foolishness. Disappear Bob Johnson! At least this goes to show you that you could have a lot a money and you still can't buy class.

Comment: NYC we can fix those parents to keep them from reproducing (and in the interim remove the child and make them take parenting clas.ses for a couple of years) and certainly if he keeps a talking someone is gonna flip a bytch and cut his throat!LMAO (y'all know thats supposed to be funny - don't want big brother stepping up on my job like I don't need to work for a living).

Name: Maverick
Comment: I was very reluctant to respond to Mr. Johnson's comments because I was part annoyed and also extremely dissapointed, but unfortunately not surprised. Mr. Johnson, by his behavior time and time again has consistently showed us the content of his character which obviously is not very much. Yes, he was the first African American billionaire, which is a great accomplishment yes, but his wealth and success came at what price to us. Look back at the content of BET over the years, seriously, I think it did us so much disservice as a community. Most of the shows were mediocre at best. Obviously the choices were a reflection of Mr. Johnson's intellect and class which was confirmed when he made that comment about Beyonce's body on the BET award show several years ago that had me as a man actually cringed in my seat. I was more surprised by the man and my perceived perception of him and his expected stature. Mr. Johnson has revealed himself slowly but definitely surely everytime he speaks of excatly what his capacity and value is to the black community, absolutely nothing of value. Yes, he might be a billionaire, but so what, he has no real dignity or class...clearly. It cannot even be disputed. However, keep giving him and Bill Clinton the opportunity to speak and Barack will definitely be in the the White House. The more they speak out of terms and put their arrogant (Bill Clinton) and dumb (Bob Johnson) foots in thier mouth, the more they will glavanize the public against Hillary and her inept organization. Yeah, keep talking Mr. Johnson, thank you.

Name: McNasty
Comment: Exmun bob johnson is really telling us how inconsequential he is that he would think it's just because of the war for sillary and just because he's black for Obama - how simple is that?! Black man is catering and not using common sense. How he can think for us but not himself makes him absolutely not relevant and I think it is bothering him a little bit. I hope he's too small for Obama to see. When he sits down and really talks to someone like Al Sharpton, Tavis, Michael Eric Dyson and has a real black conversation after they rake his crazy as.s across the coals (bring him to task for daring to think he can speak for any of us) then if he still has something to say - let him say it!

Name: Exmun
Comment: McNasty, You ain't never told a lie. Bob Johnson hasn't been relevant in years if ever. He's really proving that fact now.

Name: ChiDiva9
Comment: Bob Johnson is responsible for the perpetration of violence against women and young women through videos and supporting ignorance while he ran BET. Yeah he tried to have news etc. however he sold out and young people and women have suffered from the images that he chose to show while at the helm of BET. Barack Obama has and would not do anything of the sort. Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton can have his %*$. I am sure he and Bill are homies. They probably used to have drinks and stay up late and watch that trash Uncut.

Name: javone77
Comment: Oh. My. God. Uncut was the WORST. I was flipping channels one night and could not believe they put that trash on tv. Talk about being a disgrace. Comment: Bob Johnson sold us out for 50 pieces of silver so therefore he can no way tell us anything about anybody. That's why his ex wife got paid in full when they divorced and to add insult to injury, married the judge that handled their divorce proceedings so now she and the judge are spending his money. That may explain why he hates black people...LOL

Name: bigchassie
Comment: STEPHANIE>one word....WHAAAAAATTT???? dayum!!

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: Bob really needs to take this garbage to BET.com and not the mainstream media. He can have a commentary somewhere in between "Hell Date" and "College Hill". His responses maybe more welcomed there. As long as he continues to address grown folks with idiotic statements and misleading information his message will continue to fall on deaf ears.

Name: Shazza
Comment: So Bob has already started framing this argument to hurt Obama in North Carolina? There was another Hilary supporter who has decided that white folks are voting for BO out of white guilt. So where was that guilt when Jesse Jackson & Al Sharpton were running?

Name: PRDC
Comment: I sort of understood why Gerladine said what she said and I'm a black female. Here is my take...Since JFK there have not been another white male that can gather the forces like he did, no other and to this day. I don't know one that can to this day since the days of yesterdays...We as black people and people of color can't and don't trust them to the point where we can relate and trust the black leaders like King, Malcolm X, Farrahkan and today Obama. Some might disagree which is fine, but name one white name other than JFK. Look around today at NFL, NBA what white players can get the masses of people to follow them like Jordan, Kobe, Shaq, and player of yester years... not one white player...and the music industry, we are the only people that can pull people from all races in masses. Its a fact.....

Name: ChiDiva9
Comment: Southernbelle I feel you but those new shows are the products of Debra Lee and Viacom. You know one of the chicks he was screwing on the side when he was still married ot Sheila. As far as that goes Debra Lee is horrible as well. She would have never taken Uncut off the air if there had not been protests and pressure. You know Viacom ain't gonna give too much great programming because they see what we settled for in the Johnson years. DAMN BOB JOHNSON.

Comment: Javon and Bigchassie - this comment is all over the freakin place. For once EUR is right on schedule I think I first heard it on CNN late last night or early this morning then GMA had it on - so kudos to EUR for reporting on this one on time even though this is a distraction and the community does not support Johnson. However when rich folks speak those other folks listen especially if it is one of us who will back one of them or take an unpopular position regarding our people or community.

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: Bob Johnson is a fool. But, I won't go as far as others in suggesting that "he" is responsible for our current state of affairs. WE chose to tune into BET and not stop the impending wreck when we watched Me So Horny and Move Something videos back in the day. He provided a service...we bought it. We can't separate our and his responsibility no more than we can separate Jordan's pimpin of his $100 shoes and our community not speaking up back in the 80's. So yeah, Bob's a coon but it ain't all on him. PRDC...I don't get your point. Could it possibly be that because you are black w/limited to exposure to yts, that you believe that blacks are the only groups that can pull from all races in masses? You listed areas (sports/entertainment) where we traditionally/stereotypically excel to bolster your claims of superiority. Was there a better yt player than Jordan? Could Jordan not dunk from the free throw line because he's good or just because he's black? Can Obama not be good irrespective of race? How has being black helped his performance? That's the problem w/Ferraro's silly azzertion.

Name: javone77
Comment: Yup Bigchassie and Chidiva. It's like the old lady in church got the scoop and she called everybody on the ursher board and the sactuary choir lol

Comment: Co-signing Musb's last statement. I even take it a step further, though, and azzert that if Obama were white, this thing would be over already - meaning they would have already packed HRC's things up for her and said "it's time for you to back to NY." I feel that it's BECAUSE he's black that we're still in the silly season and people keep finding excuses (no experience, don't trust him, elitist, insert one) to drag this crap out.

Name: Mas90
Comment: ChiDiva9.... Just because you don't UNCUT doesn't mean others didn't. It was on there cause there must've been demand for it. As far as the demeaning of women, plz... women dress every day showing there damn tittties to work, to the mall, to everywhere. Most likely you have too. I don't have a problem with sexually charged programming. We all are sexual. Get over it! I swear religion is the source for all this sexual denial. I don't like BJ. I think he screwed all his employees money wise. As if we should be humble to be working for a black name company supported by white investors. BJ couldn't roll BET into a forceful network.

Name: javone77
Comment: Ok. wait. I have a question for Mas90. Maybe I took your comment the wrong way but......"I swear religion is the source of all this sexual denial". Are you saying that acknowledging your sexual side is more important than your religion. That comment came off as if religion was a dirty word. I sincereley hope that is not what you meant. Can you clarify that statement?

Name: tinkius

Comment: You know being black does not automatically mean you are an Obama supporter. It seems that the very same thing we criticize Bush supporters of (standing behind a man no matter what) is the same thing the majority of feel we have to do. I am not going to vote for a man because he's black no more than I would vote for Hillary because she's a woman. We all have the right to express our own opinions on any candidate. I just think it's horrible the way we quickly jump on any who dares to criticize or not agree with a comment made by Sen. Obama.

Name: MRJSY514
Comment: Somebody please put something in Bob Johnson's mouth cause my zipper is stuck.

Name: sonnyd
Comment: Vincent - I'm not going to speak for anyone but myself. I'm not "jumping on" anyone who doesn't vote for Obama if they're black, nor am I "jumping on" anyone who criticizes Obama - as an elected official, he has to take those. What I am "jumping on," however, are people who make dumb statements, such as Mr. (and I use the term loosely) Johnson's. Their worthy of all of the backlash he's getting and then some.

Name: Exmun
Comment: PRDC, I 'understand' but totally agree with your twisted (my term) logic. I've heard that argument being made before. The argument is essentially that there is no White male candidate who could pull 80-90 of Black voters in a Democratic primary. I tend to disagree with a lot of the logic, because 1) it isn't true and 2) there is no discussion of who this White male candidate. Ironically, Bill Clinton with all his criticism of Barack pulled a sizeable amount of Black votes in the Democratic primary election of 1992 and African Americans made up roughly 20% of his electorate in the 1992 general election (keep in mind African Americans were 12-13% of the overall population in 1992). So there was a White male candidate who pulled large numbers of African American voters in both the 1992 and 1996 elections. Your nonchalant statement about this mythical White male candidate makes no mention of this candidate's message and it insults Barack Obama's candidacy as a Black only entourage. You don't talk about what policies this mythical white male candidate would have. You don't discuss how charismatic this mythical white candidate would be. There are all factors that make us Barack Obama. He's quite a bit more than just a Black candidate. His campaign has 'changed the game' of politics in grassroots building, fundraising and communication. And here's a Newsflash: A MAJORITY (by the numbers) of Barack Obama's electorate in this primary are WHITE PEOPLE, despite what Ferraro, Clinton and CNN try to make us believe. Agreed, Barack does well with African Americans. But he is also pulling a large number of White voters (in fact a majority of his voters are White). So when we try to talk about this mythical white candidate who could pull a large number of African Americans, let's also talk about who this person would have to be in order to be 'down' enough for us to vote for him. He'd need to be moral or have a strong moral core, he'd need to be perceived as fighting power, be comfortable around us, appear to be genuine, not condescending, honest and not tied to the system, have an inspirational story, and be a magnetic and CAPTIVATING public speaker. When you bring such a white candidate in a Democratic primary with all that, Black people will vote for him whether he's white or green.

Comment: I said this in another thread but I'll say it again...In reference to Johnson and Smiley and any other blacks who have gone out of their way to down Obama, I look at it like this. Look at other cultural groups in America - Latinos, Asians, Jews, Muslims, Italians, etc. Do you EVER hear them dissing their own in the media? Do you? I cannot recall it, myself. I fully believe that they rake their own over the coals IN PRIVATE and present a united front to the public and that is why they are each respected as a unified front in America. In rare cases like the Va Tech shooter, the Koreans apologized as a united front for what their own did. But even when you kinda know that these groups couldn't possibly agree about everything, you don't ever hear them dis each other. Even though Latinos and Asians are composed of so many different countries and therefore cultures/languages - you don't hear of them in-fighting like we do and that is what I can't stand about our people. Absolutely and by all means - have your own opinion. Disagree with Obama. Support Clinton if you want to. Be a Republican if you feel you have to be. But keep you opinion TO YOURSELF and present a united front to the other cultures so we can FINALLY get the respect these other cultural groups have always gotten for their unity. As black people we need to support each other, period. We don't have to agree. We don't have to even vote for our own but we can show our support with silence sometimes and that is what we need to do more of if we want the respect of other groups in this country. But that's JMHO...

Name: queeniebunz
Comment: (cont.)...As a Black American, even if you aren't going to vote for Obama, what would be the harm of saying when asked by the media, "I'm happy to see an African American as a viable candidate for President of the United States"? Would that be going against your political beliefs? Would that be a lie? Would that make you feel like you aren't being true to yourself? I cannot think of a reason why any black person in this country wouldn't be happy to FINALLY see a black candidate who could actually win even if you don't agree with him - but that's just me.

Comment: Queenieunz, I agree with the fact that Bob Johnson's comments may be ignorant but I defend his right to say it. What you are advocating is censurship in favor of presenting a "united" front? All I'm saying is IMO we are sounding alot like Bush supporters who say I don't support the war but I would never publicly disagree with the president's right to continue it. We can't have it both ways - free speech is free speech -regardless of any other opinion. It seems as we use the term sell-out to anyone who isn't an Obama supporter. Don't we still have the individual right to decide who we want as our next president?

Comment: Well it seems like Tommies like Bob Johnson and Ken Blackwell of the NY Sun, continue to show their alliegence to the white cause. First time in history a black person has a real shot at the presidency and what do some misguided and traitorious blacks do, jump to the white side. Sure, they are entitled to vote for him they wish but they should not attack the black candidate. Whites are do that aplenty. If we as a people refuse to support one another, we will ALWAYS be in the backseat. Now, we have a chance to drive and the first acts of our so-called affluent blacks is to attack the candidate who will hopefully represent us. Sure Obama makes mistakes, one was to invite people to have dinner with him and then only select WHITE dinner companions. Whether his staff selected these folks or not, Obama should have looked at the pictures the campaign sent around to its supporters and said, where are the people of color, lets make this more equally represented, but apparently he did not. Gov. Patterson made a mistake when his first act was to let the rich off the hook when they only needed to give up 1% of their earnings to relieve the middle class, but no, the first act Patterson did was be the "yes man." Black people, please let's stand for something. Let us not get the opportunities and then do business as usual. Nope, we are better than that. Given the opportunity we must do the thing that has the true interest of the people, so that people like Bob Johnson, Patterson and Ken Blackwell, stand out in full view for all to see where their allegience lie.

Sure Obama makes mistakes, one was to invite people to have dinner with him and then only select WHITE dinner companions. Whether his staff selected these folks or not, Obama should have looked at the pictures the campaign sent around to its supporters and asked -- "where are the people of color? Let's make this more equally represented." Apparently he did not. Gov. David Patterson made a mistake when his first act was to let the rich off the hook by refusing to pass a bill that would assure that 1% of wealthy people's income was taken and applied toward relieving the middle class from having to pay for everything in a country where the rich WONT pay and the poor CANT pay so the Middle Class is taxed beyond endurance. Instead, Patterson fell in line with those who were delighted to have him in office, stating right from the start, Paterson can be depended on to go along. Did Paterson disprove their contention? Nope! He lived up to their expectations as the "Yes" man. Black people, please let's stand for something. Let us not get the opportunities and then do business as usual. We are greater people than that. Given the opportunity we must do the thing that has the true interest of the people at heart. Let us rise to the top, so that people like Bob Johnson, David Patterson and Ken Blackwell, stand out in full view for all to see where their allegience lie.

Comment: lovebites, it's not the muzzling that's needed, it's more thoughtful opposing remarks/observations concerning someone who looks like us . . . . . we will never be in total agreement about anything but we don't have to play the race card against one of our own . . . . . if BJ woke up one more morning completely broke financially, he would not be able to get compassion from the clintons [they MIGHT mouth the words but they wouldn't really mean them]

Comment: vincent..I dont' think queenie was gunning for censorship. Rather, she was making an appeal to black folk to be cognizant of what their opposition to Obama is. Many of us find it important because of the historic nature of the campaign and the tactics being used by the opposition. What yt Bush supporters do/say is not an equal comparison because history has shown us that there will be another Bush/Clinton in the near future. The same is not promised to a Barack Obama. What is real is that there has never been a time where black voters have been split over who we vote for UNTIL a black man run's for president. Apparently it's ok to 100% support yt candidates. But, it's not ok (per Hillary supporters) for blacks to vote for a black man 9/1. What that happens, it's a problem. If there is a black person who is able to justly defend why they are voting for a yt woman senator w/only 7 years of elective office experience vs. a black senator w/11, then maybe we wouldn't consider them sell-outs.

Comment: It is so sad that RJ has to meltdown over his privy to be assoc with the Hil campers. This is the way the Unk T's showed they were "something back in the day" Being in this position helps RJ feel "up". Poor fellow has not learned that 100% movement has not come with the acceptance to be around or involved with the female yt,yet. This kind of put down, is old hat for Yt;who has always used this mathod of putting a Blk person in "his" place. Just use an Rj as a hit man when 1 of theirs cant succeed to put down the folks of color. It works everytime. We have the Clintons reviving this UT act since before NC to attack Obama. YT knows that it works and that the blk folks dont catch on quickly so yt keeps onusing it. This is part of Tavis's problem too. Folks of Color, WAKE up. Before you speak or act on anything else. Say it twice, and then Analyze, before you speak or act on anything else. This just might saveyour own feelings and make your day. Im 70 BTDT Love to all...Carry on

I am saying he needs to carry on with both Bros & Sistas of all ethnic groups as we do matter. Wearing a white suit, doesnt make one look any cleaner than you would if the suit was any other color. Just keep it CLEAN. We can get along. We just need to set some rules. I love ya all

Now, it's all politics." You took the words right outta my mouth.

Comment: >Vincent - Musb pretty much said it for me but again, it's not a matter of censorship. It's a matter of not tearing down your own. Folks always talk about standing together in cases like Jena 6 but then wanna get all "I'm an individual" when it comes to this election. I very much disagreed w/all the hoopla given those Jena knuckleheads and said so on this board many times. And I COULDN'T STAND Steele, the knucklehead Lt. Governor who tried for a Senate seat here in Md. BUT best believe I would say nothing about my issues w/either situation to white folk. I stand by my own. Period. I don't even down Jesse or Al outside of my own because all they need is another validation for disrespecting us as a group. I refuse to give it to them.

Comment: StardeGiel, too bad you only feel this way when it comes to the election. Yeah, it's time to buddy up now, but it'll be business as usual once it's over. I bet you have no problem with black men refusing to partner with black women to lift our communities and make them strong do you? And I bet you have no problem with them setting up every other community rather than the black one now do you? Well look at this election in the same vein.

Too bad you aren't as passionate when it comes to watching our communities dwindle while black men bankroll and snuggle up under others and have no problem disparaging our "own". Be glad 90% of blacks are going for Obama who BTW will not be considered a black man in 2 more years. Look out 2010.

I think I am officially done with Bob Johnson for life now. No hope for redemption. LOL. He further proves everyday who and what he is and who's pocket he's in and what he's willing to do to stay there. He is so smug, he will most likey sleep tonite with a smile on his face believing he further did the right thing with The Clintons by saying this. Sad.

Comment: I do not see race as a factor in Mr. Jihnson's statement, but his choice of words do give me room for pause and concern. Mr. Johnson has a right to support Mrs. Clinton as much as he desires to. I would never imply or suggest that he should support Mr. Obama because he is black, because obviously that would be a form of racism as well. Let's not confuse a lack of tack, intelligence and class with a race issue. Mr. Johnson is simply inept as a speaker because he simply lacks the ability to convey his thoughts, opinions and ideas without creating divide and leaving his listeners irate and offended. He is simply an ineffective communicater which exposes a greater inadequecy in his character and mind. Shrewd as he might be in business, he clearly should leave the public forum to other more viable individuals to discuss any issue. The only thing that obviously concerns me and I think a lot of black people is the fact that when he speaks we are concerned that the general public might have the perception that he speaks for us all. I do not think he pulled a Geraldine Ferraro at all, Mrs. Ferraro was deliberately trying to belittle Mr. Obama's political achievements and reinject race into the political race . It was mean sprited and that is why she was asked to step down from Mrs. Clinton's camp. Bob Johnson is pretty good at putting his foot in his mouth, along with Bill Clinton. Thier words only goes to discredit themselves and unfortunately Mrs. Clinton's campaign. So, if you are a Obama fan, you should be begging for Mr. Johnson to have a bigger mike and a bigger soapbox for him to display his inadequacy. Thanks Bob, keep up the good work.

Comment: Mr. Johnson has, in my opinion, become the living breathing embodiment of what Malcolm so eloquently (and prophetically, I might add) termed a “house negro”. Unfortunately he, like so many of his ilk, has sipped long and hard of the kool aid (and “haterade” too, from the sounds of it). The ironic/frustrating/infuriating piece of this dynamic is that many of the same folks (Andrew Young, Maxine Waters, Tavis Smiley) that have been calling for unity down through the years are the ones who are now dividing and confusing those of us who won’t take a long honest look at our (Black folk) situation. Historically, we have been duped by so many so-called “liberals”, that it’s not even funny. Let me be clear; I do not endorse “unity for unity’s sake”; that in many cases is a foolish and dangerous strategy, but the fact that many of our people are not really looking at the big picture is puzzling to me. In 2004 too many bought into Bush’s religious-based platform, which sought to marginalize gays, and so forth. (As if the government or anyone else could ever legislate sexuality) The likes of Donnie McClurkin (never cared for his singing by the way) and several other “high profile” religious types endorsed his candidacy, and we have collectively reaped the fruits of that kind of ideology. Just in case you’re counting, we currently have 4,000-plus who went over to Iraq, who will never return. I have to admit, how these folk reconcile that kind of thinking is beyond me. The movement to get Barack elected is actually bigger than the man himself. The symbolism of this movement is extremely important as it relates to the restoration of faith in the potential of this nation. Young people of every origin, religion, color, creed, can now look to a man (regardless of whether he wins the nomination or general election for that matter) and see themselves, and not a member of the “old boy network”, as has historically been the case. We have the opportunity to create a new political paradigm. That’s is a big deal. The sooner we wake up and realize that there is no (nor has there ever been) “messianic” solution to the maladies that plague our communities, the better off we’ll be.

Comment: This is kind of sad. Many people are attacking Bob Johnson with negative comments. My question to everyone is ... WHY ARE YOU OR WILL YOU VOTE for Obama? I believe his comment about Geradline Ferraro is 100% correct, that is how I looked at it.

Name: croon4unu
Comment: JRE, It's not just the fact that these "people" choose to support Clinton (choose one), that is their (and everyone else's) perrogative. It's the "nonsencical" rationale that they choose to support their decision that gives us heartburn (in my opinion). The fact that they have to say negative things about the brother (Barack) speaks volumes about their own morals and character as far as I'm concerned. The current favorite is that he is "inexperienced". Well, if you can take a look at all the "experience" on Capitol Hill and in the White House presently and still make that argument you're a pretty creative thinker. Peece Yall
