Comment: Who cares about Snipes' problem. This man doesn't give a dayumm about black folks. Let's see if his woman is still waiting for him once he's sprung and all his money is gone. Seems like his career is drying up too.

Comment: While this is no "slap on the wrist," he's getting off easy, as far as I'm concerned. I'll bet he would rather have his freedom than all the MILLIONS OF DOLLARS he cheated the government out of.

Comment: Something more creative should be done with non violent criminals such as giving back to a distressed community. Sometimes that is as much punishment as incarceration - this is only another black man behind bars.

Comment: Right you are McNasty. He'd do so much better for society out of jail. Maybe he could operate a non profit business that teaches "behind the scenes" movie production. Most of the $ is made by those who're never seen on screen. Each one teach one.

Comment: while i'm no fan of wesley's (ANY MORE), i think 3 years in prison is harsh. we have more violent criminals already crowding the prison systems now, AND talk of releasing some to make room. he should be hit where it hurts most - his wallet.

Comment: McNasty--->"Something more creative should be done with non violent criminals such as giving back to a distressed community."<------ And what makes you think Snipes would consider doing anything for a distressed community? Then again, he just might if it wasn't a black community.

Comment: I can't BELIEVE I'm saying this, but for once I agree with PRDC. The GREATER NATIONWIDE MESSAGE about paying taxes is paramount and more important than any individual "lesson" being taught to Wesley Snipes, because he isn't the only one out there doing this shyt.

Comment: LOL@MelodyCool! Girl you would be surprised at what a black man would do to keep bubba away from his butt! Anyone with the threat of federal penitentary hanging over their heads would find something creative to do to give back. I don't think whatever it is should be his choice - he might shortchange somebody else but I do think that he should be made to turn around and take a good look at where he really came from - the hood!

Comment: Isn't Ron Isley serving 3 years in fed pen for owing the IRS lesser money? If so, then I would think that the 3 years is reasonable.

Comment: McNasty> I know but does the IRS take in to consideration the amount that is owed to them? I remember when Willie Nelson owed millions of dollars in taxes but he quickly negotiated something with the IRS when he realized that the gov't was going to go after him. Perhaps, if Wesley had did the same he wouldn't be in the same predicament. I'm just saying...

Comment: NYC, in cases where you try to WORK SOMETHING OUT with the government, after they've got you dead-to-rights, they will work with you. They'll even give you a payment plan. In the case of WESLEY SNIPES, he was trying to be a SLICK-AZZ, so they're going to make an EXAMPLE of him! He even tried to file amended returns to get refunds on taxes he ALREADY PAID!!! That crooked%*$!(@!( tried to get a refund of $7.3 million of taxes he'd paid in 1997, a year for which he made $19.2 million. That's just PLAIN GREEDY. From that point, through 2004, he earned a total of $38 million, and he just stopped filing income tax returns PERIOD, based on that silly 861 argument. How could he have REALLY believed he wasn't required to pay taxes on money earned HERE in the U.S.A.?! WHAT?! HOW the HAIL could he have believed the IRS is not a proper government authority?! EVERYONE knows the IRS is part of the Treasury Department, a branch of the federal government!!!

Comment: NYC in that you can negotiate your tax debt down to almost nothing Wesley Snipes should have done something besides walk around talking about black women like he didn't come from one. Look basically this turns out to be the man's comeuppance but you know he won't see it that way! Good thing he is more than a black belt cause he's gonna need it.
