Comment: Tom Joyner spoke about her passing last week when he was on the phone with Aretha Franklin. Man I remembered the last time she was on his show she was promoting the double cd of Luther greatest hits, and I wanted to cry jus listening to her talk about the lost of Luther, May she rest in peace.

Comment: When I heard this on the radio I erroneously stated it was another brother - anyway - she lived a full life and saw all her children preceed her on to glory. I hear the Spinners singing.

Comment: Heard this on Tom Joyner's Show last week too. He said she mentioned her favorite Luther song was "So Amazing". She's back with her husband and the rest of her family, with Luther probably serenading her right now.

Comment: A mother isn't supposed to outlive ALL of her children and her grandchild. That is so tragic and so preventable. Check up's, my people.

Comment: Rest your weary heart sister Vandross. To have buried all of her children, husband and even a grandchild must have been hard on her. This woman is the epitome of strength. RIP.

Comment: >QueenCityBee - Luther once mentioned that ronzoni was the only food his mother could keep down while she was pregnant with him, hence the name.

Comment: Sounds like Mrs. Vandross lived a wonderful full life. How amazing to be baptized in the River Jordan and to walk in Jesus' steps. She can now dance with her family again. RIP Ida Vandross.

Comment: Having to bury one child is too much, but to have all your children precede you in death ... hard to imagine. Her strength is a great example to us all. And yes, 82 years is indeed a blessing, even though she didn't appear to be a day over 60!

Comment: I first heard of Mrs. Vandross' passing when I was listening to Michael Baisden's Show when he also announced Bob Marley's mother had passed. I tried to find the story on Mrs. Vandross the next day on the internet. I am very surprised EUR is just posting this story. Mrs. Vandross was the epitome of strength and now she is with her family that she lost again. Rest in Peace, Mother Vandross.
