Comment: I think KRS should sit down. Let me tell you something,...you want to know when I knew I was too old to go to the club...When little girls was looking at me sideways when I would walk by. I was 24 years old. I knew then I am too old. Because I am going to slap the s#@$ out of them. Now, I remember laughing at that when I was 19. Like OH they jealous!! I look good!...But at 24 years old, I am like I am going to hurt these kids, let me go home. So, KRS maybe need to forget the performances and get on a few committees, run for an office, or teach if he can. Leave the concerts to young cats.

Comment: ...Yo, KRS1 should be allowed to perform as long as he wants to...it's a shame that rap artists have to hang up the mic at 25...Yo, a lot of old sckool artist could spit circles around some of these new cats...Doug E. Fresh is how old?...He still can perform his azz off..It's more than walking on stage 10 niggaz deep and can't nobody understand WTF you're saying...Whenever seasoned acts come to town...I go see 'em...Seasoned...They gotta be seasoned...I didn't say old...I said seasoned...Cause if you ain't seasoned, you ain't got no flava...

Comment: Hey Fran. I hear what you are saying, but consider this. It's not like KRS-1 is coming onto the scene now at 40 plus years old. He's been doing his thing for a minute since the 80's and his stage presence has not let up for one instant. And this particular concert was geared to a theme that was catered to ceasing the violence in our community. I guess the argument could be made if he was simply rocking the mic to be doing it, then maybe he should leave the mcing to younger folks. But there's nothing out there that says that a rap concert cannot be held down by a veteran. If you've ever seen a concert by this brotha, he is timeless and in his element at any venue he happens to rap at. I don't want to be the old man in the club any more than I'm sure the teacha wants to be the MC that just won't let go of the mic. But he is one of the true pioneers in the game and if any one is still deserving to do his thing on stage, then it is he. Personally, you should be able to still go to the club and not let those "young" girls even dissuade you from having a good time. And also, if those young'ns were giving you the once over, I guarantee Fran, it was probably because they were intimidated by you ;)

Comment: I see your point Luke Cage. But my point is my age folks arenot going to any concert peace or not, unless its Guy, Morris Day. I am 30years old. I want to go when I hear Lil Wayne is having a concert, even Beyonce. But I think its too many kids. Whereever they are a group of kids..you going to have a dare devil attention getting bad azz. He can rock it, but as you see these kids will throw it. He should sit down, he is too old to be up there. Now, the kid should be thrown in jail. But still veterans or not, at some point you need to give it a rest. The generation will get beyond you.

Comment: For example, have you ever been to the mall on a Friday or Saturday night? I dont know where you are from, but here in the South, kids just storm the mall. Running, tripping over you, cursing loud, just all kinds of stuff. If you are out there long enough a kid is going to rub you wrong. I am always like, well its time for me to go.

Comment: Fran, how dare you insinuate that music is just for the youth? WTF???? Just because YOU don't want to see veterans perform that's YOUR business! If he was giving a concert in the effort for peace, let the brotha do that. No need for disrespecting. We need to respect the pioneers of this game and not put them down for the love of music that made them famous. YOU-MUST-LEARN!

Comment: Clearly you are like the young girls I was talking about. If you would READ what I said, I said that he needs to do other things to promote peace, other than throwing concerts that breed bad kidz anyway. I respect the pioneers, just like I respect them, everything has its time. Be honored then sit down. That simple.

If someone hits me in my face and hand and I require medical attention, I hope I can get a helicopter ride to the hospital - KRS One is just at a mental level that most others aren't mature enough to handle or understand - they still running around on stage holding there dichks....

Comment: Gurlfrand read the article again. Yes it says KRS got hit in the face and hand by a bottle. The article states that he was rushed to the hospital due to his hand, not his face. Can you imagine a ambulance racing down the street with KRS in the back sreaming, MY HAND SON! MY HAND! LMAO! KRS, you're from the Bronx, toughen up.

Comment: Fran, oooh yeah luv. I live in VA, by way of NYC and most definitely, the kids RULE the malls.-lol-it's like romper room & Sesame place all rolled up in one sometimes. And I can't argue with the fact that when the deluge of the young'ns hit popular spots like that, definitely. It's time to go. But more than ever, I think that's precisely why we would need a KRS-1 still on the stage. Especially for a brotha like myself.(I'm 42) and I'm not familiar with Lil Wayne or any of the current crop of artists today so their presences in a concert would not suffice for my tastes. But a Jay-Z concert with Mary J, is right up my alley. Actually, you mentioned Guy and Morris Day. Hey, I could definitely check out a concert with those cats. All this to say, although the rap game is probably catered towards the young folks, alot of the old schoolers still have an audience that is obviously made up of late 30's to mid-40's folks. If there are young'ns in those crowds, I would hope that they would extend a form of courtesy to the pioneers. But you know that there will always be knuckleheads, regardless whose up on that stage.

Comment: Let KRS speak his message! Whose gonna make a stop the vioence message like him??? TI?? Fifty Cent?? Shame but the only socially conscious rappers, IMO, are old schoolers. And two of those are(watch you all cringe....) are LL Cool J and Will Smith who can rap circles around ANY of the new-jacks and speak of things like having a good time & treating your women like a lady and they gets no repesct from US. Rap doesn't have to be negative(though I know it helps to sell to the narrow-minded masses) but someone's gotta speak up about it and KRS is the ONLY ONE brave and skilled enough to do so.

Comment: dport, I like Fresh Prince and LL COOL J, but THEY ARE NOT SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS RAPPERS! If you try to deny that you're lying to everyone on this board including yourself. Will Smith can rap circles around any of the New Jacks? GTFOH! LMAO! Will isn't rappin' shyt around Common, Lupe, Kanye, Mos Def, Talib, Dead Prez, etc. Those dudes are considered conscious rappers. Will was good in his day but if he were to put an album out now it would be trash like his last 3 or 4 albums were. Will Smith can't rap about shyt other than partying and having fun (NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT). LL is a battle rapper that has a special place with the ladies. IT KILLS ME HOW OLD FOLKS TALK ABOUT RAP AND THEY ARE NOT IN THE KNOW! No disrespect dport, but you're DEAD WRONG calling Will and LL socially conscious rappers. LMMFAO at Will and LL (Maybe him) being able to rap circles around ANY of the rappers now. PLEEZE! SHAKIN' MY HEAD!

Comment: Peeps stopped looking for REASON TO START AN ARGUMENT!! I stated the Will & LL rap about having a good time and treating women like ladies not that they were socially conscious rappers. That was a different sentence referring to other like KRS. Now Will & LL have better skills than the other rappers mentioned...listen to their diction & syncopation and rhytyhm. Unique and not the same from song to song. Todays rappers have no real beat and only talk over the tracks...there is a difference.

Comment: dport my bad. But Will Smith doesn't have better than the rappers that I mentioned. Once again, I like Will. Yes most rappers today talk over the tracks. Will has a very simplistic style. Will does have the same flow/diction/sync/rhyme scheme in just about every song. He is no different than the rest. He just came at an earlier time. He was fun loving and not gun toting. That's what set him apart. You have got to be kidding me if you think Will Smith has diction. You have got to be. He's one of the most unlyrical dudes ever, but he is entertaining. Add to the fact that he doesn't write his own rhymes. That's a no-no in rap. Just state you like older rap and not the current shyt that is out. I wouldn't disagree with you there. LMMFAO at Will having diction. Please homey. Will Smith can only rap circles around very few. VERY FEW.
