Comment: nightshift - yes, she is. she was an adorable little girl and then she went through that not-so-cute stage, but now she is absolutely beautiful. is it me, or does seem like she is quite a bit darker than she was when she was a child? anyway, i loved this play, so i'm hoping that the movie is good, too. RE: chick from "Family Matters". that was a sad situation. she was kicked off the showed unexpectedly and didn't have any money to show for it. she didn't know what else to do i guess so she turned to prostitution. she is working on turning things around, too. wasn't she an adorable child, too? i wish her well. TyP seems to try to rescue everyone else, maybe he'll rescue her, too. i'm glad he gives a chance to those who hollyweird would never take a second look at.

Comment: Nightshift: I think that we're so glad to see one of us onscreen (other than Denzel or Morgan Freeman) that we gobble up the crap that anybody sells us. I only brave theaters to see big-budget special-effects extravaganzas, and I wonder sometimes if I'm abandoning Black films. But, I can't STAND Tyler Perry-type movies...PEACE.

It may be ego, but I also think that TP is doing this so that the major studios/white execs take notice since his movies have generated a lot of revenue within the last 5 years.

It's their work, let them put their name on it. If I was to write a film, book, or whatever...my name would be all over it. Besides, on every rap record, every artist has to say their name. And some of TP's movies debuted at number 1 at the box office - white execs never had a clue. To whynotme - I guess you don't like seeing Walt Disney's name in front of his movies either? (LOL) The man has been dead forever, but his movies are still titled "Walt Disney's, so-and-so." It's all about publicity....

Comment: I thought the preview of her going to jail was funny in "Meet the Browns", especially her beating the cop up, then the outtake within the movie where she get in the police car handcuffed but them you see her waving as the car pulls off. That show Tyler does not take himself or his work too seriously. I still can't believe little Rudi is almost 30 years-old. I hope she's able to pull off the Candy character. That character was pretty serious in the play, and I haven't seen Keisha get too deep in her roles yet.

Comment: Spike Lee says "a Spike Lee Joint" the same way any director say "a so and so film", for example "a Steven Spielberg film" or "a Clint Eastwood film". Spike was just a little more creative with this particular credit in his movies.

Comment: No stephanie, she was fine. She even did a few things as an adult, most recently on Eve's show as one of the guys' girlfriends, (actually the guy who played Eddie Winslow play her husband on "Eve"). It was the other younger daughter that one day went upstairs and never came back down on the show. She was written out of the show, and later on in life turned to prostitution. I think she revealed this on somebody's talk show, either Oprah or Tyra's show. If you blinked, you missed her on Family Matters

Comment: Luke/Steph - The girl we're talking about was on "Family Matters" for a very short time. She played the baby girl, Judy. Her name is Jaimee Foxworth and she was the cutest little girl. One week she was on and the next she wasn't with no explanation about what happened to her. Google her.

When "Family Matters" first came on there were two Winslow daughters. Laura- the on Urkel lusted after and Judy who was younger than Laura. She was played by an actress named Jaimee Foxworth. About 3-4 years into the show, she just disappeared and there was no mention of her and the characters on the show acted like she had never been there. Years later, we found out that she was let go (I think she had a semi-stage mother who was trying to get more money and the producers weren't having it and they dumped her). We also found out that she was broke and resorted to acting in porn with a stage name of "Crave". Last I heard, like others here, was that she was trying to turn herself around. Hope she succeeds.

Comment: Madea is the Ernest of the 2000s. Anyone else remember all the "Ernest Goes to Camp" or "Ernest Goes to Jail" movies? I'm not knocking Tyler Perry though. As someone else said, Tyler Perry movies are the only way we get to see Black actors other than Halle and Denzel.

Comment: Damn@Crabs-in-the-barrel syndrome. Also mad @ why a Spelman grad has to settle for whorish movie roles such as the one she played in Beauty Shop and now for TP. Wishing we could see grown up stories about beautiful upwardly mobile AA men and women who love each other and are raising their children well. I can see any number of white films of that nature whether comedy or drama. But our films always have a criminal-whorish-doggish-buffoonish slant as if that is all that we are or all that we want to see. I would like to see more thought provoking movies like "Why Did I Get Married" that play against stereotypes like letting the "big girl" win in love. Soon, they may even make a movie where a Black Man actually falls in love with and marries a Black woman. I always wanted to see a movie like Out of Africa, STARRING Black people. Won't that be novel?

Comment: My problems with Tyler have nothing to do with the content of his movies (he has a right to be good or bad like any creator) but it's his business practices I'm against.
Mr. Perry is using non-union writers on his show yet EVERY OTHER CREW JOB ON HIS SHOW is a union position!! So the actors are SAG, the directors DGA, Teamsters and other crew are IATSE, so why should the writers be treated so unfairly? All he'd have to do is pay a paltry 14% to the writer's pension and health fund. The writers don't even get screen credit on House of Payne! I'm proud of all Tyler has accomplished, but why not groom young writers and treat them with the respect they deserve? C'mon TP, you can afford it bro.

Comment: IATSE is the International Association of Theater and Stage Employees. It covers all the jobs on a set from camera, props, wardrobe, etc. A union for film/TV crafts people.
Just as these people deserve a union, I believe the writers of TP's shows deserve representation.
I am a big fan of Tyler, I just want him to come correct with my union (WGA - Writers Guild of America) just like he's done for all these other unions. It's the right thing to do and won't cost him much at all. It ensures that these writers get pension, health, benefits, etc.
