Comment: Well it's not like we didn't see this coming.

Comment: I don't know much about Joe Adams, but the way he was portrayed in the "Ray" movie suggested that he was shady.... you would think he was Ray Charles' lover or something.

Comment: I don't blame Ray's kids. There are times that folks on this board would accuse deceased celeb kids as 'greedy' but see no problem with complete strangers come in and make tons of money of the name of their parents' sweat and control their estates. Hell, you might as well let the children have it and allow them to preserve the legacy as well as inherit the money. This will interesting to see how this case plays out.

Comment: Ray Charles "kids?" How OLD/young are these "kid?!!"

Comment: At the end of the day, Ray Charles CHOSE to give this man control instead of his family. That says alot. They need to be p!ssed at Ray Charles for "disrespecting" them.

Comment: Don't know much about Ray's kids, but don't you think if Mr. Charles thought one of "his" kids was responsible enough, he would have given them that power to control his legacy? What role did all of these "kids" play in Ray's life, because it wasn't portrayed in the movie, unless the producers got it all wrong ! In time of need, everyone come out of the woodwork.

Comment: There is full story on this in the LA Times. But aol has much more info than the eurweb version: http://music.aol.com/news/story/_a/ray-charles-childre n-ex-manager-battle/n20080420211109990007?cid=525 Mr. Adams does not sound like a man on the up and up and hopefully, the children will be able to gain more say in their late father's enterprises.

Comment: righteous> I thinkt the problem is that most AAs from the old school still believed in having yt handling their affairs. It's unfortunate fact. Why don't celebs like Ray allow their kids control of their legacy after they have passed on is anyone's guess, but I suspect he believed that this person whom he trusted for decades would do the right thing for his heirs. Let's admit it that Black male celebrities didn't share their finances with their spouses plus it doesn't help when he has a gaggle of outside kids. The situation with Lou Rawls is similar except he was married to the last wife. It would be nice if there was a situation like Priscilla Presley, where she was able to take control and established a trust for Lisa Marie and at the same time, preserve Elvis' legacy. I don't think in all cases it has to do with the kids being 'greedy'. It has a lot do with being able to control their parents legacy but for one reason or the other, these artists do not have their affairs in order until they begun sickly and decide to scramble and put together a will. There could be other scenarios that the public does not know about.
