In the Dominican Republic last summer, I argued with Dominicans who looked like us's but who swore they were mostly TAINO indians and didn't have a drop of African blood. Sammy Sosa said on a Chicago Spanish radio station when asked why he married a blonde white woman, he responded, "I wanted to improve the race" (Yo queria adelantar la raza) On top of that they felt superior to our Haitian siblings and looked down their noses. If you want to insult a Dominican, mistaken him/her for a Haitian, you gotta a cussing out comin'! They're a lot of Portuguese in Mass. and those Portuguese treated Africans in their colonies of Angola and Mozambique CRUELLY. I always thought Brooke wouldn't identify with African and you just edumucated me. Thanks!!
