Comment: It's been proven before now that Walters has questionable character, just based on the Star and Rosie episodes alone (granted neither of the other two are model citizens, lol), but this story of her telling Star's [obvious] business is no surprise at all. Now, what DID surprise me I have to admit is the ATROCITY of she and Oprah exchanging HO stories about how they both went with married men...and how Walters had the nerve to think she was "above" being called a "mistress," lol, yet admitted to knowing the man was married AND not having any regrets about it! WTH? So not only was she a mistress--but a coldhearted one to boot! Wow, talk about classless. Oprah should have been ashamed to laugh off this foolishness with this simple trollop, much less trade stories of her indiscretions with her! I was disappointed, I thought that was beneath Oprah. :(

Comment: I never understood the whole concept of an affair but what I really don't get is why is it different when a women talks about having had an affair versus a man talking about his exploits. Given Star's comments since Barbara has been on the interview circuit, frankly she hasn't learned too much from that experience either. She paraded Al in front of America, wrote a book on finding true love, and severely damaged her own reputation herself only to divorce two years later? Who's the trollop? Beneath Oprah? Come on Oprah is a lot of things professionally but at the end of the day she is human, and a woman. This wasn't something that took place within even the last 10 years but I do appauld Oprah's honestly in talking about it because it did happen. The difference between her and Barbara is that she didn't name names...but let's keep it real Barbara also acknowledged contacting dude before the book went to print -- so he knew! and obviously was ok with it.

Comment: Teigh, you respond as though I defended Star Jones, lol, which I did NOT. My comment about Barbara Walters stands, she has shown NO class, first to have an affair, then to essentially brag about it to sell a book. And is she supposed to get brownie points because she "contacted dude and he knew about it?" lol Did she contact his first wife, his kids, or even his current wife? Did she see if it was okay to put their family's business [back] out in public? Did she think about the FAMILY she helped destroy? So yeah, trollop, is fitting. Btw, I'm not the only one who shares these sentiments. I'm taking this personally, just observing what's put before me. Btw, in no way do I think Oprah is somehow "superhuman," I just didn't think she was the type to laugh off something like that. Yes, you can share your bizness (if that's what you do), but to laugh about being a mistress? Um...no.

Nearly two years after Star Jones left "The View" on rocky terms, the 46-year-old TV personality has criticized former boss Barbara Walters for writing about her.
In Walters' new memoir, "Audition," she discusses how Jones wouldn't acknowledge her gastric bypass surgery on the air. She also writes about Jones' lavish wedding, which wound up alienating viewers as Jones accepted gifts in return for promotion.
"It is a sad day when an icon like Barbara Walters, in the sunset of her life, is reduced to publicly branding herself as an adulterer, humiliating an innocent family with accounts of her illicit affair and speaking negatively against me all for the sake of selling a book. It speaks to her true character," Jones told Us Weekly magazine.
Jones' publicist, Brad Zeifman, said Jones wouldn't comment further.
Walters reveals in the book that she had a past affair with married U.S. Sen. Edward Brooke that lasted several years in the 1970s.
The details about Jones are less juicy, but shed light on what happened behind the scenes on "The View" when Jones refused to publicly acknowledge the gastric bypass surgery she had in 2003.
Walters says Jones, who'd dropped 160 pounds in three years, changed her mind after telling Walters she'd talk about the procedure on the program. Walters says she didn't want to be the "poster child" for the procedure.
"I understood that, but it put us all in a terrible position," Walters writes. "It meant we virtually had to lie for Star, especially when she said again and again on the air that her weight loss was due primarily to portion control and Pilates. ... Joy (Behar), in particular, resented having to go along with the lie that implied that all one needed to do was sit-ups and ingest one cookie instead of two."
Jones confirmed her surgery last year in a first-person essay in Glamour magazine. She said she "was scared of what people might think," and "ashamed at not being able to get (herself) under control without this procedure."
In March, Jones quietly filed for divorce from banker Al Reynolds. The couple married in November 2004

Comment: Way to go Star for sticking to her old pasty azz. Oprah needs to STFD w/this tabloid shyt. There is no need for her to be discussing Star Jones' personal life on TV w/somebody that she ain't kewl w/. Oprah deserves to be knocked the fk out for this Ricki Lake-Springer-Pauvich-Bledsoe shyt. Stupid azz.

Comment: Wow some of you are harsh and seem to take things waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to personal. Like you know these folks personally. Affairs - shouldn't do it but people do just as you shouldn't speed but people speed. Lying - shouldn't do it but we do whether a little white lie or a "no one even asked you a question" lie. But whatever, I could care less but I wanted to post something (anyway).

Comment: My bad, I just re-read my 2nd post, should have typed "I'm NOT taking this personally..." Btw, I don't think having an opinion that knowingly sleeping with a married man, then writing about it and talking about in public, is trifling--is judging too "harshly" or "personally." Seems like if it was "personal," it would have been kept private. Hmmm

Comment: It was one thing for O to ask such a leading question opening the door for barbara's response but on a professional level O should have moved on as opposed to adding her two cents. Made her look like a potential candidate to write for the tabloids. Thought O avoided this kind of controversy?! The book tour is going to make this situation last longer than it should and I don't think its over by a long shot!

Comment: 76?!?!?! Damn, her and Larry King need to go sit their azzes somewhere. Personally, I don't believe half of the shyt she saying. I sure memory loss is starting to set in. Besides, even a blind man could see that Star had surgery. She only made fools out of the View cast, setting there lying about some damn Pilates. Oprah, has little room to talk. I'm sure she's had a little nip/tuck her damn self.

Comment: Wow! Y'all sure are harsh on Ms. Baba Wawa. I don't feel that she's parading or bragging about her affair. She's written a book about her life and that's something that happened in her life. Now had she left it out and it by some means came out later, it'd be "what? Is she ashamed of the Black man?" or some other stuff. She wrote a book 'bout her life and was brave enough not to hold anything back; Good, bad, and/or ugly. Is she worried about bein' judged? I don't know. What I do know is that ain't none of us have a Heaven or hell to put her in, so...

Comment: Umm...Oprah is a talk show host. It's her job to get folks to TALK. Barbara wrote the book..Oprah read the book...How in the heyall do y'all expect her to interview her about the book and not talk about the affair and Star Jones? First of all, even a blind man knew Star had gastric bypass, so I don't see how it was in bad taste for Oprah to discuss Star acting like she lost the weight doing pilates. Star played herself....not Barbara's fault. Second, Star put out her own articles and book discussing what went down at "The View" and now she wants to get mad because somebody else wants to tell their side?! That's some bs. Both Oprah and Barbara Walters were dead wrong for having affairs, but if these dudes cared about their family and any fallout from the affair being discovered, they should have thought about that before cheating.

Comment: I usually can't stomach Star (no pun intended), but I'm glad she spoke up against BW. BW has lowered herself to the likes of Superhead, Nas's baby mama, and all the other chickens who have to run their mouths and talk about people's personal lives to sell a book. BW has spoken to world leaders, traveled the globe, and accomplished a lot. So you mean to tell me she REALLY had to fill space by bringing up Star's name?

Now we see, Oprah's %*$ didn't LAY INTO HER like she DID,....oh I don't know?????...... the "RAPPERS"!! I mean, where was the "moral statements", the Oh!! how could you!!, I'm OPPAAAAAULED!! etc......NOTHING lie that! Instead people will ask the OTHER questions...Girl, how was it??, I didn't know you like chocolate!! etc.... Bottomline....when YT does something WRONG, America has a funny/strange/RIDICULOUS way of looking at it & receiving it waaaaaay differently than when ANYONE ELSE commits .....the same damn crime!!!!

Comment: The facts are that Star was ridiculous back then. How insulting to her fans to expect them to believe the lies she was telling(and forcing her colleagues to tell)about her weight loss. Then the focus groups said that her behavior about the wedding had them turning off The View. Ratings drop? You know that was all she wrote. Star has nobody but Star to blame for the way things turned out. She is in no position to be "self-righteous" and point fingers at anyone.

Comment: Angel don't come in here w/that Oprah defense..lol Yes Oprah is a talk show host. She can also have a show about "whose is yo baby's daddy" as well. She CHOOSES not to. She does not have to speak about everything she reads or is in the news..and she doesn't. I don't care about her talking about the affair. That's BW's trifling old pasty azz. It doesn't matter who "knew" about Star's procedure. That's her personal business. It's like Oprah's azz looking like she's pregnant, she never admits it, then the pregnant look is gone w/in a week. After that, people azzume she's had an abortion, she admits it, then Katie Couric decides to interview Gale about Oprah's abortion. It's called shiddy journalism/tv hosting..something Oprah is not immune from. If you listened to what Star said about the ABC agreement, it mirrored what BW said on Oprah. BW and Oprah trifahling azzes are the Bama's of the week, week, week!

Comment: musb - I'm not sure how this compares to a baby daddy show on Maury. Oprah has done several shows on folks having affairs and what not. They were discussing a memoir....there were no surprise guests in the wings that jumped on stage cussin Barbara out or begging to take a lie detector test. Comparing a conversation with Gale talking about Oprah with Barbara talking about Star isn't even in the same category. Now if Oprah fired Gale and Gale decided to talk, then that would be a good comparison. Star and Barbara are not friends and Star left the View on bad terms and IMMEDIATELY published a tell all article and wrote her own miserable book. Star is just bitter that she spent all of that time and effort getting skinny for a gay man and lost her job in the process...

Comment: Angel..WOW! This was about how Oprah and BW are on national TV talking about Star's business that was written about in a book and you go off on star? It's something called decency..something Oprah has shown she is prone to NOT have. IMO Oprah is pushing tabloid journalism and her fat azz should be ashamed. Barbara is selling a book and her prehistoric azz should be as well. It's news that Oprah was raped. She's talked about it. Most people would have the decency not to publicly discuss it even "if" they had a problem w/her. then again, it's oprah...can't say nothing about her. Give me a break! Oprah is as wrong as the luggage racks under her eyes.
