Comment: So I guess while in stir she'll convert to islam, and learn big words like "incarceration". Ho'ish bytch got what she deserved.

Name: CRENEEJ
Comment: ITA nightshift. she wasn't cryin when that girl was laid up in the street and she ran off....

Name: khanman
Comment: No sympathy here. Do the crime do the time. I imagine she will take a liking to lickin' some clit cause 8 years is a long time to go without dyck!

Name: McNasty
Comment: They should have given him some time for being stupid! Did he actually think he was smart enough to get handcuff keys by those that carry them all the time?! Damn Dummy!

Name: Sigmatherunner
Comment: Remy Ma is not even close to who I really am. I'm not a thug," she said. "I'm not a threat or a menace to society, and I still have so much to offer." Please Buzzard you have not said anything that the rest of these hip hop morons cried when standing in front of a judge. Well you got 8 long years to think about who you really are.

Name: cookyd
Comment: She should be glad all she got was eight years, now she can write some lyrics about how stupid she was for carrying a gun--oops my bad that would make sense.

Name: NYCsoul
Comment: "The bullet pierced Barnes-Joseph's colon and hit her rectum and sent her to a hospital for three weeks." This woman could have bled to death from this woman's actions yet she shows no remorse whatsoever. I don't feel sorry for her at all. These people waste their God given talents by acting a total fool and shooting at people to prove how 'hard' or 'gangsta' they can be. This whole 'gangsta' mentality is out of control and to think, Remy Ma is crying and whining about the process being unfair because she's a rapper. She should have thought about that when she shot the girl over some money she probably could have made in one or two gigs! Her child is the only person I feel sorry for in this sordid mess.

Name: 4462DG
Comment: She's real lucky it was just 8 years. Gut shots can be fatal due to the possibility of infection, the victim was laid up for 3 weeks, with the state of health care and drive-by procedures 3 weeks is long!!!! Wonder how she'll get along with the guards now it being she was just dissing them a few weeks ago, bragging her commissary is more than their salaries!!!!

Name: Train
Comment: Of course she's innocent, just like everybody else in prison is too. Homeboy must be stupid as a m.f. to feign for a chick on lockdown. P'ussy got that ni88a all on sprung.

Name: BigMamaThang
Comment: See you in 8 Remy! In the future don't go on a radio show and talk mad ish a week before sentencing. Stupid is as stupid does and now your stupid azz is going to prison. Your child will be 16-17 by the time you get out and you have no one to blame but yourself. Use this time to make a positive change and pray for time off for good behavior.

Name: CRENEEJ
Comment: and according to the victim, she cannot have children now either. Remy should've gotten more than 8 years for that alone!!

Name: DCGG
Comment: Prison is too good for her nasty azz considering she's got "more in commissary than the guards make in a year"...They should lock that bytch up in a dog kennel for 8 years...

Name: NYCsoul
Comment: creenj> Wow! That has to be devastating. And Remy Ma and her stupid man have the nerve to say that the victim just wants 'money'??? No amount of money will give that victim her womb back. Remy Ma needs to stfu right about now and start serving her time.

Name: PRDC
Comment: Sorry you got that much time...just do it and come out a better person. Should you continue in Hip Hop pick your friends and associates very careful.....Its not a good place to be right now...I doubt if she has to pull the whole 8...but its what the crime calls for.....

Name: Penelope
Comment: I ain't sorry she got that much time. She got what she deserved, which IMO should have been more. Heffa Cow gonna shoot somebody, and act like she didn't do anything wrong.

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: Well Remy, I guess if there's a bright side to this story it's that you finally confirmed your street cred. Now, *in my LaBron James voice* "Sit your azz down" and do your time.

Name: javone77
Comment: and this is the main story today because..................?

Name: choochootrain
Comment: Although I agree she should get time, I think there is a bigger issue here. What is going on with the anger in the young people in our community? I just read about an incident that happened in Cleveland recently. I think many of our ancestors worked too hard, struggled too long for us to take it so lightly. We must do something to stop this cycle now before it goes into the next generation.

Name: McNasty
Comment: Choochootrain it's called parental responsibility or lack thereof for what's wrong with these kids. When parents begin to teach their kids and to instill in them a respect for the quality of life and other people we'll be a helluva lot better off. We know what the answer is - we have yet to do anything about it.

Name: adifferentpath
Comment: the young lady cannot have kids! wow. 8 years. in the system from jump (Remy was...) wow. we need some healing.

Name: blackdragon
Comment: Excuses, excuses. Remy Ma, you shot someone in the stomach and you still have not learned anything. It's called "personal responsibility." You have to take responsibility for your actions. As for Papoose, he's a bum. Why would you bring a skeleton key to jail? Unless you're trying to break someone out of jail, there's no reason to bring the skeleton key. He's no good, too.

Name: katgrrrl
Comment: Southernbelle, lol. What can I add to what y'all have already said about this chick? Nothing...aside from the fact that I love the Tuesday Taylor hair she's sportin' in that photo.

Name: SpecialK
Comment: What is it gonna take for those in the entertainment business to understand that it doesn't matter who you are (Wesley Snipes, Ron Isley, Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, Martha Stewart, R. Kelly, Michael Vick, etc.)you will do your time. I feel for her son. I pray that she is somewhat remorseful and turns her life around.

Name: dcdouglass01
Comment: What's up with these women who feel the need to act "hard" (Remy, Foxy Brown, etc)? I was trying to get in my car this past weekend, and this teenage girl was standing by my driver's side door talking to another teenage girl on the passenger side of the adjacent car. So she was basically blocking me from getting into my car, and as I approached, I thought she would realize this and step back a step or two to allow me to get in my car. But instead--with a cigarrette in hand, smoke blowing out of her mouth, and ashes from her cigarette being carried towards me by the wind--she just stared at me like I had slapped her. I gave her a smile and "Excuse me", but this child, with her out-of-shape gut exposed due to the short shirt she was wearing that ended at midriff, continues to give me a "What?" look. I finally manage to squeeze by and she goes back to talking to her friend. I wanted to slap her, but life in general will do that soon enough when she'll be taught in some form or fashion, like Remy, that she isn't as bad as she perhaps thinks she is right now.

Name: WordUp
Comment: Hey Rema! Now act bad heffa! Ha ha! Yo azz will be locked up for a long time. The next time you think about shooting someone, think about how lonely yo azz will be locked up for years! Ha! Ha!

Name: 4462DG
Comment: dcdouglass01, I don't have any idea what's up with these females (and I'm a female) I've noticed in my hood the females make more noise and cause more shyt than the males nowadays!!!! I'm starting to wonder what's in the food that causing females to have more testrone and the males to have more estrogen!!!!!!!! Cause it's got to be something.

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: ...and her man Poopoo, or whateva has been watching too many Bonnie and Clyde movies. He would wanna sit his p-whipped azz down somewhere also before he finds himself sharing a cell with a dude that looks just like Remy.

Name: dcdouglass01
Comment: Well, 4462DG, we men tend not to "pop off", or get to the edge of it, as quickly because once we do, things can get out of hand quickly, and the consequences tend to be greater. But this new breed of hard-core girls seem to think of confrontation as more of a game. Color me strange, but I prefer women who have a lot of femininity up in their mix.

Name: Stephanie
Comment: The sad part is, the image she was trying to portray got her nailed to the cross and now she's lost everything. Stupidity will get you every time. She must have been really hard up for that $3K and chances are the girl probably did take it but still did she really think the girl was going to admit she took it and gave it back? She simply got caught slipping and who the hell carries three grand in their purse any damn way not to mention a gun too. She set her own self up for this one...

Name: SweetieDarlin
Comment: Dumb Broad, now Remy wants to play the poor pitiful me role. Actually she has a history of this kind of behavior so she's lucky her crazy behind only got 8 years. All this for the alleged code of the streets mentality, gotta be down, gotta show you will be dealt with if there is disrespect, so why is she whining now take the consequences---Remy's bad, jail should be nothing right? Stephanie as far as the $3,000 I was thinking the same thing but it would seem that in some cases folks like that carry a lot of money around to show off----again dumb.

Name: 4462DG
Comment: dcdouglass01, good for you, I'm just wondering who in the hell are sexing up these mannish looking females. I started noticing this phenomonon recently, the females are acting like men and the men are acting like women!!!!!Do the females feel nobody has their backs so they now have to "butch" it up, SMDH!!!!

Name: TesticAl
Comment: LOL at nightshift's first sentence! LOL!

Name: hoss1121
Comment: 4462DG ---> This thing about females acting more like men today, the only thing not correct is the "today" part. In my experience, women have ALWAYS been harder in certain confrontational situations. Whether now, or a dozen years ago. As a former bouncer here, and I dare say ask any bouncer to disagree, the worst fights to break up is always between women. Men, for the most part, stick to a set of rules in a confrontation: Man up, Stand your ground, Let your girl see that you ain't scared, And even if the fight is stopped or you get your %*$ kicked no one gonna disrespect you for stepping up. Women, for the most part, don't have any rules. Anything goes. Once I had a woman bite my arm when breaking up a fight. Ain't no dude ever try that! Outside of the occassional knucklehead, men usually know when to stop to prove their point. Women don't. I will grant you that today's women are worse than years past. But the WHOLE culture today is worse than before. Therefore, my only surprise with Remy Ma is that she didn't get more time. Any average, not-famous brother would have easily gotten 8 1/2-to-12 for the same shyt. And that would be because the D.A. gave him a deal to avoid a trial.

Name: MelodyCool
Comment: She got off lucky with an 8 yr sentence being that she tried to murder someone. Too bad she didn't think about her "little boy" when she pulled the trigger. Good riddance to bad rubbish. That fiance looks just as dangerous as she does.

Name: QueenCityBee
Comment: Well Remy that's how it goes ma. You should have bobed & used your weave instead of poppin a cap.

Name: oshun
Comment: that thug shyt ain't fun no more, is it ma?

Name: Grace12_34
Comment: dcdouglass01, I know EXACTLY what you mean! In all fairness though, I believe it all begins AT HOME. One day, I was substituting for another teacher in a 7th-grade classroom. I noticed a couple of students had left the room without permission, so I called security. The security guard came to the room about 5 minutes later with a couple of the students. One of the students walked up to me and said, "You called security on me?" I just stared at her. She said, "I'm talking to you!!!" I said, "And this conversation is OVER!!!" She said, "You f uckin' bytch!" I said, "YOU ... SHUT UP!!!" The following period, the principal called me up on the phone and said, "Joanne said you told her to shut up. Her mother is coming up to the school." I said, "Oh, really? Well, Joanne called me 'you f uckin' bycth!' How old is SHE? 12 or 13??!! She's lucky ALL I told her was 'shut up.' I don't have to take that sort of thing from her!" The principal began sputtering and then asked me to write the incident up in a report.

Name: Grace12_34
Comment: I feel VERY sorry for the son. I guess Papoose is NOT the father? I hope the boy's father is a strong, black male role model to shelter and guide the boy through the next 8 years. Even though we women nurture both male and female children, only a man can REALLY teach a boy how to be a man. Even the single mother who raises a son has a positive strong, male role model SOMEWHERE in the picture for the boy to emulate.

Name: Grace12_34
Comment: I meant the single mother who SUCCESSFULLY raises a son ...

Name: dcdouglass01
Comment: Yeah Grace, I don't know what's going on, but I certainly agree that it all begins at the home. I have no experience raising girls, but my son is eight and everything at the moment is cool. With boys, those early teen years are sometimes the most problematic, so I'll see what happens with him when we reach that point. If he starts smelling himself though, I wouldn't have a problem laying that old adage on him: "I brought you into this world, and if necessary I'll take you out (of it)."

Name: Marlin
Comment: wow. her ex-homegirl has every right to sue her and then some. and if you can self diagnose yourself by saying you came from hard times, then you do not perpetuate that by shooting your homegirl over you THINKING she took your money.
