Comment: Gurlfrand>I was on the train the other day and I saw a mother with her son, who looked no more than 4 or 5 years old. He had some type of cookies in his hand, nutter butter, or something like that. It was junk food at 7:30 in the morning. I'm saying to myself that this kid should have had some oatmeal, farina or a fruit instead of some super sweet cookies. Of course, she probably had some type of junk food for herself as well. To buy healthy foods can be costly and unfortunately, junk food is way cheaper. It's fast, filling and easier on the pocket particularly if you are of lower income. I love to go whole foods but hell, those prices are steep! But I do see some of us shopping in there. I think we need to have more food co-ops in our neighborhoods which I think could be helpful in increasing awareness for better nuritition and healthy eating.
