Comment: I think this pretty much explains what happened. She pronounced the word "F U C K" like a drunkard. What a shame.

Name: nightshift
Comment: Karma, she probably been treating people bad, being uppity and they told on her butt, just like they did Jesse when his girl was acting like she was the wife.

Name: McNasty
Comment: She says fukk and she gotta be drunk to do it?! She says fukk, she has to be drunk and NOW her minion colleagues are saying she's just short of a an alcoholic?! Too bad she can't shoot'em all!

Name: DOne
Comment: This is such a non-story. Even if she did have drinks after the 5 broadcast, unless she was drinking the entire 6 hours, she would still be drunk at 11. This was just a perfect opportunites for employees who didn't like her for whatever reason to strike.

Name: Luke_Cage
Comment: Once again McNasty, we are right >< here. But I'm bias since I love me some Sue Simmons. If I was Sue I would've said, "annnnd??? I had a little sippy sippy and what?" Besides, this is nothing new. Before Sue there have been other anchors, sports reporters and journalists who have let one fly when they thought that the feed was being recorded and not going out live. It's not THAT serious. She apologized and that should be it.

Comment: Uhm Sue you ain't gotz to x'plain yo'self to no mutherfuvkin body...ghurl wanna have a drank between shots then a ghurl gonna have a drank between a mofo shot...

Comment: VERY good point, Nightshift, with the operative word being "uppity." I am just LOVING how this "non-story" is teaching our youth that there is a time and a place for EVERYthing. Students often try using profanity in the classroom. I consistently tell them that I understand how their use of that language is part of who they are, but that when they enter the classroom, they should leave the language on the other side of that door. Her drinking during work hours also provides yet another valuable lesson about the appropriateness of time and place, just like the airline pilot who was caught FLYING drunk last year. Thanks Sue!

Comment: I don't think this is a big story, but I've still yet to hear context for her outburst. No one else seems to wonder what kind of relationship she had with the person she was speaking to like that. "What the F*ck are you doing?" WHO TALKS LIKE THIS AT WORK? And to whom? Maybe this workplace I'm in is more cushioned or something, more pc, but I'll be damned if someone is going to talk like that to ME, even if I was a subordinate. I would just love to know who she was speaking to in that tone. But that's just me...

Name: Bad_Kitty
Comment: TGen: I agree with your post. As much respect as I have for SS (although I haven't watched channel 4 news in years - she's still a fond memory of my past), I also wonder to whom was she speaking in that manner at the workplace.

Name: katgrrrl
Comment: Bad_Kitty, you beat me to it. All I wanted to know is who the f**k (couldn't resist) was she talking to? And I don't know if she was drunk or not, but later for that. Go after them airplane pilots who like to juice up between flights! A drunk newscaster can only spice up an otherwise boring story whereas a drunk pilot can kill my a$$...and yo' a$$ too...unless you go Greyhound. But then you have to worry about drunk drivers...or a drunk pilots plane droppin' on ya bus! It's a vicious cycle, kids.

Comment: I was kinda on her side and all but after thinking about it and reading the above posts, I tend to think she is the uppity type. I have a good friend who used to work for ABC in DC and he said news anchors are notoriously obnoxious. All the people who came out of the woodwork, especially at the restaurant shouts that she's a b*tch at work and probably a b*tch who doesn't tip at the restaurant. I worked my way through college waiting tables and if one of my best customers (who tipped 20-30%, sometimes even 50%), was as drunk/happy as they claim she was, I'd keep my mouth shut so those tips would keep on coming. But I still don't think she should lose her job. She just needs Terrible Terry Tate to come after her... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib9emA0jSZo

Name: WillyBobo
Comment: LOL...Those Terry Tate commercials were some of the best ever!

Name: queeniebunz
Comment: >Willy - TTT tackles her as she leaves the anchor desk..."No cursing on the job, Sue!"

Name: McNasty
Comment: The article the other day said she was talking to one of the camera men - someone working on the set for whatever mistake he made - I believe the same article also said she thought her mic was off. Sometimes in life actions of others catch us off guard and things like this will come out. On this board on a daily one of us is saying WTF! whether abbreviated or spelled creatively. Woman can't be villified over this miniscule shat and shouldn't be judged for being human.

Name: dmsr70
Comment: Who the F U C K cares about her little faux pas? S H I T happens.

Name: katgrrrl
Comment: "Woman can't be villified over this miniscule shat and shouldn't be judged for being human." Hear, hear! <> Methinks Sue and whomever her comment was directed at need to be called into human resources. There's some tension there that needs to be addressed and mediated.

Name: TGen
Comment: McNasty, you're right, it's not a big deal, but I tend to think if you slip up long enough, eventually you'll get caught. I'm thinking this is probably just the tip of the iceberg. I've tried to think of a thousand ways in which the setting for her to say that in that tone would be okay, and for the life of me, I can't wrap my mind around a moment at work when talking like that to ANYONE would be okay. Those kind of "slip-ups" don't just happen. I'm thinking that's a microcosm of that whole work setting, def. says something about her that she would speak to someone like that at work. Sure she's a nice lady and all, but she def. has some issues (as do we all), but I still don't see why she has so many apologists. Jmo...

Name: DOne
Comment: I agree that I can't imagine someone talking to me like that on the job, but it does happen. Also realize that TV news is still show business and they operate in a different reality than the one in which most of us live. Being a news anchor has to be stressful at times, especially a female anchor when you know that there is probably always someone younger and prettier lucking in the shadows after your job; just waiting for your ratings to slip. Most of us probably have jobs in which we are judges on our performance, alone. I can't imagine having to worry about my looks and rather or not the general public likes me on a daily basis. That's bound to bring out a little bitchiness in anyone

Name: jess
Comment: Oh please. This is sooo not a big deal and she sho' ain't gonna lose her job behind it. Give me a break with that uppity mess too. She could be the coolest person on the planet and people will take the first opportunity to attack.

Name: TGen
Comment: DOne, true, you have a point. Showbiz is a different world. In my limited experience with it, I've seen/heard some things that at one time, would have made my jaw drop, lol. There's def. a different place you have to pull from (on the inside) when you're exposing yourself like that, that others in other professions probably do not. Okay, so that makes a little more sense to me. I'm kind-of coming around to giving her the benefit of the doubt--not entirely, lol, but kinda...

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: She damn sure looks like she's over 21 to me, so who gives a damn if she has a drink or two in between sets. Hell, I'd need one to working with the backstabbing mofos that she work with.

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: ...and to the nosey trick working at the restaurant STFU and go get her a double.

Name: Calidee
Comment: Bottom line... she thought her mic was off so she said it. Everybody else she works with has probably used a few spicy words. Using profanity in the workplace is unprofessional. However, each workplace has its own culture. Some places don't make a big deal out it. Sounds to me like the only thing she did wrong was get caught saying it on air. On the other hand, if she is creating a hostile work environment by cussing out staff, that's another thing.

Name: DOne
Comment: >TGen I also agree with a lot of your points, and believe me, I'm not one for making excuses for people, but I come to the conclusion that celebrities exist within a parallel universe and whenever their univrse collides with the average person's its usually isn't pretty, but I don't feel sorry for them because they reep huge benefits so they have to pay the price as well.

Name: BrotherSlade
Comment: She keeps it up she will be among the unemployed in NYC.

Name: BklynBabe
Comment: She was talking to Chuck Scarborough. He was making notes on a pad as they went to black and she blurted out to him, "What the F U C K are you doing?" jokingly. She didn't realize that it was a live promo and that the mic was still hot. She and Chuck have a good relationship. They've worked together forever and everyone says they are like a work "married" couple with her being the clown and him being the serious one. There are those that I am that close to that I would say something like that. It's not that big a deal. She apologized to the thin-skinned among us so let's move on people. Sue is my girl and I hope she and Chuck are on another 30 years D A M N I T!!!!

Name: katgrrrl
Comment: ...and WHY does she have to be "uppity"!? Is it cos she 'speaks well'? What makes her uppity? If she'd kept goin' with her rant and dropped some ebonics a "yo" here and a "my ni&&a" there, would she be "down"? Just askin'...

Name: McNasty
Comment: BklynBabe thank you! I didn't think what she said was a prelude to a beat down or even menacing. If you've never been to a tv station let me tell you - shat goes on there that wouldn't happen in a lot of our offices - that's the nature of the beast. For them to make a big damn deal about this and all of a sudden the woman is falling down drunk certainly speaks to some issues - just not hers. Hell the woman is living her life and trying to enjoy her job and I hope she throws serious shade to the tattletales she works with.

Name: katgrrrl
Comment: BklynBabe: Thanks for sharing that. That's cool. I can see jokin' around like that when you have years of friendship and Love under your belts.

Name: khufu
Comment: what the fook is the problem?

Name: katgrrrl
Comment: Brotha Khuf, where the fook have you been? <> Y'all have a great fookin' weekend!
