When you think about it the girl and jz have been around long enough for the newness to have worn off and for them to be able to move and groove like anyone else. Comment: Aw, I'm sympathetic for Bey.... "I'm so famous and wealthy I can't go out and worship God anymore, but He'll understand." But she can jetset all over the world for every fashion show, every red carpet event, and every function Jaycamel hosts. I don't see her complaining about being noticed anywhere else, so her comment about not being able to attend church makes her look like a jerk. That is nothing but pure ego. There are numerous celebrities (more famous than she) who go to church and worship on Sundays, and don't worry about who notices them, etc. In the eyes of God, Bey is no different than anyone else, so she really needs to get over herself.

Indianapolis Colts SuperBowl winning coach TONY DUNGEE, attends Northside New Era Baptist which is directly in the 'hood and is there EVERY SUNDAY including Wednesday nite Bible Study. NOBODY bothers him or his family. He focuses his energy on the sermon and service and the POWER up above takes care of every thing else. I think this story concocted by this lady is just a publicity stunt.

Coretta was always getting annoyed when people approached her but it comes with the territory and to me it just means that you played a significant part in our history and to act all sh*itty. My hairdresser could't stand her and my girlfriend told me when her little sisters saw her in ATL, they got so excited and she went straight TF off. I guess. Beyonce is so full of herself its sickening. I wonder what she really looks like without the makeup and those horrible hair weaves...

Comment: This is an interesting story...I debated whether or not I should comment on this story...but then I saw McNasty's comments about watching Lakewood Church (Pastor Joel Osteen) and call it a day. Funny thing is that she can attend Lakewood Church and she will be ok to worship. Being a star doesn't preclude you from being able to go church as a matter of fact it's even more reasons to do so than not. Celebrities stop by Lakewood all the time and are well protected by their personal security and the church security - and it's not even like security is sheltering them big tiem. You hardly ever see people trying to bum rush them. People are not animals and they valued the sanctity of the church more than just an autograph. I'm pretty sure there are some hustlers that are ready to drop their demos to Beyonce but I'm sure those are rare and few in the church...at least at our church. You can't stop idiots 100% of the time, they will prevail but that's less than 2%. If President Bill Clinton can walk around Lakewood and not be bum rushed then I'm almost sure Beyonce can also. Then if Lakewood doesn't work for her, there is always a church out there where the masses does not know who Beyonce is...I'm confident of that...this is just an interesting story.

Comment: But then the flip side of this conversation is that this is a personal decision btw her and God and no one can judge her...I'm sure she will work it out. Plus Beyonce is very helpful in the community. They contribute so much to one church (St. John) that they named their church community center after Beyonce and Kelley. So take my earlier comments as the two cents they are worth...who am I to judge you when I have started backsliding by using extremely foul language.

Comment: OSUN..the Church here in L.A. is West Angeles Church of God in Christ. Lots of celebrities including the ones you have named attend this Church on the regular with no complaints. Bey may want to stop and breath. Ego makes you lose oxygen.

Comment: It's clear that what she said is a rationalization and at this point in her life, she's not interested in attending church. If she were to attend ANY church long enough, the people would stop being star struck and would start treating her like any other worshipper. Of course she'd get the occasional fan, but she'd get that anywhere.
It's easier for some to make an excuse than just to say "church isn't for me" or "I'm not that close to God", but that's bad for business and not culturally accepted especially in our community.

In the church she attends people might be all on her instead of listening to the Word of God. I'm sure if she was a member to some of these churches mentioned with other celebrities coming and going she might stand a chance. A lot of people go to church to check out who's there, what they have on, who they are with, etc...I can see where she doesn't want that. You known as well as I do, people will be all on her. Denzel's wife have to let people know when they are out, that he is with family...some people just don't care...they are all into other peoples lives and their live is going to hell. As long as God understands and continue to bless her, I would car elet about these negative comments......Most of you are the ones that she is talking about.

Comment: KMJW- It would be great if everyone got the treatment Clinton receives from the folks at Lakewood. Based on the story, it doesn't appear to be the case for Beyonce. I don't know who's a bigger star, I guess it depends on whom you ask. My only point is that it must be distracting to have photos taken while you're worshipping. Nothing earth shattering from me, that's about it.

I also understand comparing Houston and L.A. that celebrities go, but what about Atlanta, Miami other celebrities go to churches there like Usher,I was at church one Sunday with my daughter when Treach came to church with his wife can not remember her name at that time they both were popular and service went on and they left maybe 20 minutes early and the pastor said yes that was who you thought it was and they were members althogh some might not seem big as others but they will go to church I remember Big Boi and Andre 3000 coming to church as young kids at my mom church and when Andre became big he still came and his mom is still a member so it goes by how big the person think they are I know Bey is big but you still have to remember who got you where you are not the people in church but HIM.

It makes me sick that people in church are taking cell phone pics. Tony is an old azz coach with mostly adult male fans. Most of them are not willing to look like a groupie b!tch in a church. Beyonce is a global star with a lot of YOUNG OVERZEALOUS IMMATURE fans. I mean really....if I went anywhere with my nieces and Beyonce was within a 2 miles radius, they would start screaming. Do you know someone who can do this, who do I call to get that...Messages getting passed on a church bulletin. I feel Bey's pain. If people would let others enjoy the message and the music church would be a wonderful place.

Comment: @Kaya: Christian Cultural Center came to my mind too. Especially since Bey is living in NYC. They are used to celebrities coming there and I know Dr. Bernard keeps order in his church and would not allow her or anyone else for that matter to be hindered from worshipping.
But I can empathize with Bey's trepidation.

Comment: Beyonce has my sympathies. I can see where she would have a problem worshipping in a church. As far as the comparison to the fashion shows and other events she attends freely, I don't think there is a viable comparison between church and those other events. Those events can be carnival like, and a number of other individuals similar to Beyonce are probably in attendance, but church is all together different. Also, while I have no doubt that a pastor or whomever can maintain order in the service, but in some individuals, Beyonce's appearance may stand in the way of their worship, and I can understand why she would not want to be the one who gets between anyone and God. Do we have to go to church to be saved?

Comment: I don't get this because just about every church I've attended in Maryland/DC and in Atlanta - they have what I call "Nazi ushers" (like the Seinfeld "Soup Nazi"). These ushers don't take no stuff! You can't breathe w/o their permission. And don't even try to get in the sanctuary til they say and you betta not move during the tithe/offering. That said, I know nobody at any of the churches I've attended would even dare to take pics during a sermon or even during any part of the service w/o being yanked out of the sanctuary with a quickness. I've heard of other churches having armor bearers. My church doesn't have that but we do have Deacons that sit up front and make sure everything stays safe and orderly. Armor bearers are church bouncers or security detail, as far as I can tell. Why aren't these ushers/armor bearers at the churches doing their job?

Comment: I attend Christian Cultural Center regularly and "celebrities" attending is really a non issue. Last Sunday I was sitting in the balcony and saw Carl Allen (a Jazz musician) just sitting a few rows over with his wife...no drama. it's one thing if you attend on a regular basis (like Carl Allen & his wife) and it's completely different if you just roll up every so often. In either case earlier posts are correct; Pastor Bernard has accommodated everyone from Stevie Wonder to Patti Labelle and various athletes and politicians with different levels of notoriety. It's really not that deep if you want to go to church.
