Comment: McGruder probably does have some excellent points about BET. But what's the purpose when he takes serious liberties with the totally unnecessary use of the N-word throughout the Boondocks series. In effect, both are bad for Blacks -- BET and Aaron McGruder. These are the idiots who get a little bit of media "power" and neither does anything to empower Black folks. Sad state of affairs.

Comment: I guess some miss the point of Boondocks. Yeah, it does use the n-word but the show speaks and makes fun(not light) of the negative aspects of our culture. It also sheds light on how we look at out culture from within. If you really wanna 'get it' go back and look at the previous season beginning with the one where Martin Luther King is resurrected. The shows makes POINTS along with the n-word and humor. I'm getting this DVD next week.....bet!

Comment: TRTR, I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE with you about the GRATITUTIOUS USE of profanity, esp. the N-word on the show... esp. out of the mouths of children. I get satire. That's why I liked his comic strip so much and was looking forward to the cartoon.... But my ears were %*$aulted and my brain was insulted by the vulgarity in the first five minutes of watching. Too much energy is misdirected by having to fight the vulgarity to get to the meat of the hearty satirical message. I also understand creative expression and all that but Aaron, you would have plenty more viewers if you reduced the profanities.

Comment: "Dovelyone," thank you!! For the other posters, Aaron McGruder is NOT DEEP. I get satire, too. I don't "miss the point." And I enjoyed his comic strip as well. But, why oh why, did he find it necessary to go downhill with the cartoon? As usual there are always those of "US" who think it's just fine to use the N-word unnecessarily and excessively if it's supposed to be in the name of "keeping it real." PLEASE. We are the only ones who will accept and justify the use of something (in this case, a word) that was used to dehumanize our ancestors for centuries. Enough already! The use of the N-word DOES NOT WORK FOR US! "Musbdherbs" and "Dport," once again, McGruder is NOT DEEP. Don't be fooled when he's promoting the continued ignorance of our people.

Comment: Actually, I enjoyed the comic strip a lot more than the cartoon and I miss reading it in The Washington Post. Just what is Aaron McGruder doing these days?

Comment: TRTR..please let your emotional attachment to a word subside. If you don't see nething "deep" about McGruder's satire..it's really fruitless to continue the discussion. IMO, using "nygga" does not put u into the "not having nething important to say" category. Apparently in your world it does. Deal done. Not your thing. Good for you.

Comment: I like the show a lot and get the satire but I hafta admit that I cringe sometimes when the N word is used. My issue is when I come in the office and hear "others" talking about a "nygga moment" like it's ok and it's not. But they perceive it to be ok because they saw it on the show.

Comment: "Musbdherbs," yes let's simply agree to disagree. I've read plenty of your posts where you clearly love and swim in the glorification of the N-word, while I most definitely DO NOT. IMO, unnecessary and excessive use of the N-word will undoubtedly reduce the effects of any points one may be trying to get across, which is what has happened with McGruder. So, yes, you keep using the word as you often do and I will voice my disagreement with every chance that I get.
