Comment: If Hillary wants that VP spot she had to come out and support Obama quickly. I bet Bill put a bug in her ear. They saw their own people turning on them so she had to act fast.

Comment: the newspaper montage video is inspirational and it buoys me for hard work on the rough side of the mountain: I am not taking anything for granted moving forward in the O-BA-MA!! campaign . . . . . the O-BA-MA!! campaign has its work cut out for certain, especially since the rethugs are already using hellarious attack ads

Comment: HarrisThomas: Have ya noticed that rethugs are trying to shore up its power base (or lack thereof) in the conservative evangelical community. They have this media campaign saying that Barack is either the anti-Christ or the Messiah and this is to inflame religious tensions among the Fallwell/Robertson folks so they can flock to McCain. We must be vigilant in in watching Barack's back 'cause they'll try anything to get rid of him. I still hopes he passes on McCain's bait to get him to go to Iraq. What a perfect location for an azzasination by a 'deranged' gunman. Don't go BO!!!

Comment: yeah, fanteeking, I totally agree that Barack should not go to Iraq . . . . . the conservatives are in overdrive already with their negativitity . . . . . Friday (6/6), Juan Williams [former AA] in an azzinine Wall Street Journal opinion article decries Rev. Wright and Father Pfleger actions and concludes that O-BA-MA!! needs to do another(!!?) race speech . . . . . meanwhile, in positive, fluffy news, much attention is paid to the O-BA-MA!! fist pump, couture that Michelle is wearing, how beautiful she is, and frequent comparison of Michelle's style/demeanor to that of Jackie K.O.

Comment: I thought the speech was a good one, the best one that she's done so far. But I agree w/ Tokyo, she didn't have a choice! If she wants any future career in politics w/ the democratic party, she had to come out with FULL support behind Obama and she had to do it SOON. I'm just so glad that all of this mess is OVER and now we can focus our attention on electing the 1st AA Prez, Obama! >harris, the news has been workin' my last nerve talking about that 'fist bump' or DAP is what it's called. Yt is always tryna figure us out! LOL Now, they'll be doin' it...such biters!

Comment: I thought the speech was decidedly average. I also find myself rolling my eyes whenever HRC is praised for giving it, as if she did something out of the ordinary. The only reason she wants on that ticket, is so that she won't be blamed for a possible loss in November. And unless she has the power of voodoo mind control, she can't undo the damage she's done to Sen Obama, and make her people vote for him. But whatever. We'll see how things go. As for the GOOD NEWS, I loved that DAP moment and just the intimacy you see between Barack and Michelle. I hope their daughters sleep over went well this past weekend and that he's well rested to take on whomever. I'll be sending him another donation this week.

Comment: And Bill would be absolutely useless in this campaign. He certainly can't go to any Black churches, not that anyone needs to go there anyway. He could go to redneck land, I suppose, but even there I don't think he has any pull. It's funny, but I vividly remember that particular group of voters being the most avid of Clinton haters in the 90's. Now suddenly they were 'Hillary's People'? Since when? Maybe Chelsea could be of some use somewhere.

Comment: Hillary should NOT be the Vice President for many reasons and the main one is because it's a step down from being a senator. VPs really don't do jack crap despite what others think. Senators have a bigger role in shaping politics than the VP. The only VP that has had real involvement in the shape of politics was Cheney aka Dark Vader b/c Bush didn't know what the world he was doing. Hillary should not campaign for the spot as she would lose some of my support.

Comment: LazySusan - I'm not sure I agree with your last comments that Bill couldn't go to any black churches. Please tell me why not. When Bill made his stops in Texas, he went to several BLACK churches in the Houston and Dallas area. And he was greeted with a lot of excitement as shown on the news coverage. One thing about the Clintons, they are not scary. Even when they know the environment may not be the most welcomed one, they still go, i.e. Hillary going to Memphis to celebrate MLK. I still think Bill could be useful on the campaign. Maybe not as useful in the black community as he once was but still useful. And he will definitely be useful in the communities that Barack is not fairing in so well these days. ...Now the real reason why Bill shouldn't be used by the Obama campaign is because Bill is uncontrollable and sometimes unpredictable. Barack doesn't need that type of unnecessary drama.

Comment: Exactly asize..i'm getting truly pizzed at people for thinking they have the right to tell Obama what he should and should not do. Bob "cooning" Johnson, Diane Fienstein; Charlie Rangel..all of them TELLING Obama who he should pick for his VP; trying to undermine his authority. I am almost positive that never in history have you had any presidential nominee be told who he better pick as his VP or else. When Terry McCauliff introduced HillBill as the next president on the same night that Obama clinched it said a lot so this concession speech is taken with a grain of salt to me..it's called CYA and Hillary and Bill have that down to a science!!

Comment: Eighteen million votes: $212 million. Some 1,926 delegates: $109,823 a pop. Blowing the biggest head start in presidential history: priceless.
From anointed to also-ran, Hillary Clinton spent more money to lose a primary election than any candidate in Democratic Party history.
"The Clinton campaign found itself without adequate money at the beginning of 2008," chief strategist Mark Penn wrote in a published Op-Ed yesterday - but it was enough of a cash stash to fund the causes she championed.
The money raised could have been better spent.
Instead of throwing it at a failed political bid, Clinton could have achieved a lot of her goals.
The former First Lady, an outspoken proponent of family values, might have delivered a much-needed vacation to working families: sending more than 76,000 families of four from New York to California to visit Mickey, Donald and Goofy.
And don't forget the economy.
Instead of throwing cash away, she might have better invested the $11 million she gave her campaign by buying everyone in New York City a Mega Millions ticket.
And she could have bought 9,838 people a new hybrid Toyota Prius, or given out 70.7 million energy-efficient light bulbs.
Remember that gas tax holiday plan? Nearly 53 million gallons of free gas could have been bought with that sum.
And think of Clinton's deep interest in health care: $212 million could've covered 705 artificial heart surgeries. Or, presuming an average price of $20, she could have bought flu vaccines for 10.6 million people - not quite universal, but a darn good start.
If the former First Lady really wanted to push women to the forefront, she could have equipped all 2,300 students at her alma mater, Wellesley College, with a Porsche 911 Carrera. (Should they find themselves late for class, it boasts a top track speed of 174 mph.)
And to show her allegiance to her adopted state of New York, Clinton could have given every one of the 1.24 million students, teachers and staffers in the New York City school system one of the priciest Yankees mementos on MLB.com: the "Mounted Memories New York Yankees Cut-Stone Baseball With Polished Zinc Display."
To thank New York for its support, Clinton could have used the $212 million to treat every Empire Stater to a movie ticket.

Comment: Winn > The same thing happened with Reagan and Bush Sr. Reagan didn't really want to choose Bush Sr. but was pretty much forced to do at the last minute for pretty much the same reason being touted now - party unity and he needed support in certain geographical areas. Reagan couldn't stand Bush. Bush wouldn't drop out of the primary race after Reagan had beaten him in like 29 or 30 of the 33 primaries that had been held to that point. It wasn't until the California primary (I think) that Bush finally dropped out of the race. Said all that to say that it has happened before but just b/c it has happened before doesn't mean it should happen again. Obama should not pick Hillary for HIS VP if he doesn't want to. However I'm hoping he doesn't because Hillary is too smart to be a VP. She can have a much stronger footprints on politics as a senator.

Comment: KMJW, if the rethugs advantageously use hillary's campaign ads against O-BA-MA!!, she will be remembered for her kitchen sink strategy when she got desperate after the February super Tuesday primaries/caucuses . . . . . I still can't believe that hillary endorsed mcbush by saying she has experience, mcbush has experience and O-BA-MA!! has a 2004 speech . . . . . I still can believe that dedicated hillary supporters will either vote for mcbush or not vote at all: mcbush and the rethugs are not amenable to women's glass ceiling issues or any economic issues for anyone except the very wealthy

And yes, just like there were several blacks supporting Clinton, these same folk will welcome Clinton to their churches. Like them or not, most people would welcome an ex-president to their churches...even Bush if he got the invite.

Comment: HarrisThomas - You can best believe that Hillary supporters will not vote for Obama so that Hillary can get another chance in 2012. Also, there is too much drama and hate on BOTH sides for the party to come together. When you add up the racist people, women who are upset, white males who are upset - that is too big of a bridge for Obama to cross. The Republicans are now directy attacking Obama and remixing Hillary's comments and are being successful in the process. Hillary for President in 2012!!!

That really ticked me off when he introduced her as 'the next prez of the U.S.' as if she won...That was just a slap in the face to Obama and so was Hillary's speech the night that Obama clinched the nom. Comment: OK, so I don't get what the complaints are about. Didn't we get what we wanted- Obama won the nomination. Of course Hillary had no choice but to endorse him, however reluctantly, but the point is she DID endorse him. Would you have rather she didn't endorse him and that the drama continued? Her endorsement will not hurt Obama, it can only help. I know all of he supporters will not vote for him, but some of them will. And let's keep it real, there are many Obama supporters (some of them on this board) who would not have voted for Hillary if SHE had gotten the nomination. So don't get mad at the Hillary supporters who won't vote for Obama. I'm just glad that he's the nominiee. Now let's concentrate on November. And beware the Republicans. I am convinced that they have some tricks up their sleeve that they will wait until mid-late October to pull out. The Rev. Wright "scandal" was just the tip of the iceberg...

Comment: >musb- Whatever the reasons why one's supporters would not vote for the other, the possible end result is the same- McCain in the white house. That is something that we cannot afford to let happen. What's concerning me is that there are rumblings that McCain might pick Susan Plain, the governor of Alaska, as his running mate. She is young (44), a popular and effective governor and the conservatives love her. This could shore up votes for McCain from the "angry white women" in Hillary's camp and the conservatives who aren't too crazy about McCain.

Comment: Fortitude, being spiteful to get hillary another chance in 2012 is political suicide . . . . . . people who vote for rethugs or don't vote in 2008 because hillary is not the nominee don't understand that the next president will very likely fill at least one Supreme Court slot and will have other opportunities to direct change in the quality of all of our lives . . . . . last, in 2012,there is no guarantee that a better, more likable woman or man won't rise from the ranks in the same manner as O-BA-MA!! to challenge hillary or even O-BA-MA!! if he gets elected and performs badly
