Comment: Regardless of al being a media whore and any of the other adjectives usually used in reference to him - he is attacking rap music from both sides. Its time to take the negative things about females out of it and its also time for the corporations to stop encouraging it. I would really like to know what the music would sound like if those that have always used bytch, 'ho and all the other names chose different lyrics. I think because I believe a lot of them to be talentless, they would be lost. As for lil wayne - karma is a mofo lil boy.

Comment: Umm.. okay Lil Wayne.. I guess it rhymes and maybe it sounds better on wax, but that was wack. Geez, no wonder I'm stuck in the 80's and 90's when hip hop was HIP HOP!

Comment: That rap is curious. Is he saying Jesse is more respectable than Al? lol Are they both not media hogs? His distinction is interesting. But also very disrespectful and unnecessary! Why go there? I don't get why he even had to go there. *Sigh* P.S. Musbdherbs, it's weird that you seem to be giving Wayne props for dissing Sharpie, yet other times you're the first to defend Al. hmmm

Comment: This is slightly off topic but this is a response to McNasty's post about rappers using a broader vocabulary in their rhymes. I had a sudden urge to listen to classic rap the other day and it struck me as how rap has gone totally downhill instead of remaining innovative. I was watching Eric B & Rakim on youtube and he reminded me of why rap used to be so great. It used to be about style and substance, regardless of the subject....Gangsta rap was always there from scholly d, Just Ice, Ice T to what we have today. However, if you didn't want to listen to that, you had party rap, conscious rap, dirty raps, etc. There was diversity and lyrics were well written. Today, it's just straight up garbage. Just looking at some of these rappers are a turn off. I don't even want to hear what they have to say. This lil wayne (any grown man who calls himself 'lil' doesn't seem to think much of himself to begin with) character is a damn joke and I wouldn't take what he says seriously. He can rail on Sharpton all day long but who'll remember him in the next 10 years? If people like him find Sharpton inadequate, then they need to step up to the plate. But they wouldn't because they supposed to be 'entertainers'.

Comment: It would do Sharpton no good to have a war of words with a fool like Lil Wayne, a guy who sounds like he's on medication all the time and who has kissing fests with his "boy" Baby. If Wayne wants to call himself being political, he should target somebody besides Sharpton. I think Bill O'Reilly or sean hannity are prime candidates.

Comment: TGEn..I gave Wayne props for bringing his gripes w/Al in the form of hip-hop lyrics. I gave him props for being "political" or "socially conscious." Yes he did say that AL is more respectable than Jessie. He says that Al is nothing but a Don King w/a perm..lololol. I don't have a problem w/people voicing their issues w/AL. I do have a problem w/Al is blamed for what's wrong in our community. I have a problem when people never want to hear/see him. Yet, when some'n goes down, they're always asking "where is he." Even after listening to the song, I'll continue to defend Al when appropriate.

Comment: NYC last week the ladies of 102.3 played old skool rap for about 3 hours which was amazing since they seem to be stuck on mariah carey and the sapp fellow with the gospel song. This past weekend we listened to more lyrical old skool and I realized we have to get back to that and squeeze ignorance and talentless fools like this out of that market. Wayne indeed has nerve - those lyrics are whack, he's a foul mouthed drunk and I have to discount his fans as well for making him relevant and topping the charts last week. Man we have got to stress education!!

Comment: Maybe Lil' Wayne is doing this because of Al Sharpton's campaign against all the misogyny and other bad stuff in rap music. I don't care for him or what he has to say, and any grown man who calls himself "Lil'" probably doesn't think highly of himself. As for Al Sharpton, I don't care for him, too. He is a media hog and he is not a modern-day Martin Luther King, Jr. He's not my leader, that's for sure. However, he is intelligent and his intelligence could used for better things.

Comment: 'Nas...have you listened to the CD? In fact, has anybody in here listened to the CD or are we doing what "we" always accuse others of doing, criticize w/out the slightest effort to understand exactly what we are criticizing. If you listened to the CD, it is far from the misogynist/sexist lyrics we often complain about. I'm sitting here now trying to think whether he mentions women in a derogatory way on the CD at all. Ok maybe once....uhmm...let me go back and see.

Comment: Musbdherbs, you have a problem when Al's blamed for ills in the community...except for when lil Wayne does it, huh? lol Btw, I haven't heard the whole cd, but what about that Lollipop song? I would post some of the lyrics, but I don't think half would show up on this site, lol, but it's def not what you would call G-rated. (And that song is my guilty pleasure I have to admit. I feel so ashamed, lol *Sigh*)

Comment: He has a song wit babyface called Comfortable on his new CD. I must admit this is the only song from this degenerate that I like, and that's because of face's smooth hook. Al has too much intelligence for this Lil fool. He Better worry 'bout that case in Arizona more cause they lockin blacks up like its the thang to do......jmo

Comment: TGEn, Wayne didn't blame Al for what's wrong in our community. He voiced his personal opinion (the same as we do here) on Sharpton. So no I don't have a problem w/him putting Al on blast since he's been on the receiving end of some of Al's harshest criticisms. Lollipop...oh lawd...I forgot that song was on the CD. Let's just say I kindly ffwd beyond that one whenever I get to it much like I do w/Akon's "I wanna Love you."

Comment: Mus I have wayne's cd in heavy rotation and I am a woman and I absolutely love the Cd and what he says about Al is his opinion and actually the lyrical content of that song is Great. Its a lot of people talking noise and have probably never listened to the damn cd. Just talking to be talking.

Comment: I agree, Al shouldn't lose any sleep over what Lil Wayne says. As a matter of fact, I'm dumbfounded by the use of both names in the same sentence. What I don't understand is Al's rep. stating that he has a 50% approval rating among black americans, WTF? That does not sound like much of a rebuttle. So what is the reps %*$eration that half of black america agrees with Wayne? IMO, that's not a good comeback.

Comment: MsFres..Big ups for actually LISTENING to the CD. I like the Katrina song myself and the one w/Robin Thicke. The one w/Jay too. S'Belle, I thought the same thing. Half of black america not feeling you ain't nothing to brag about. That was a HORRIBLE comeback.

Comment: Musb rappers like lil wayne don't have any business disrespecting someone that has actually made contributions to our community - that's what I take issue about. As for his cd - I've listened to enough of his music to not even be curious about this last one. When rappers like him begin to respect our journey they will begin to understand what folk are up in arms about.

Comment: 'Nas...rappers like lil wayne or any other person has every right to criticize those who go at them. Being a rapper doesn't limit your ability to speak. Using Al's numbers, only 50% of blacks like him and I'm positive that many of those do nothing "for" our community. Yet, they never fail to bash AL. Wayne, in that respect, is no different and I would argue that he has done more for the "community" (if that's the simplistic argument we are now using) than many of us who criticize Al. Big up to Lil Wayne!

Comment: If you got in serious trouble in America say police harrassment, incident with a white girl, who would you call big Al or LiL Wayne? Lil Wayne and the image he portrays has done nothing to help the people of this nation. He's just another rapper who having his turn at bat.
