Comment: Kanye pay the thing off or sell it. He more than likely purchased it for her in the first place and was a tax write off for him! When you consider the unfortunate cause of her death -- handle her business and keep her name out of the tabloids and internet rag sites!

Comment: Meanwhile: The plastic surgeon who operated on Kanye West's mother before she died last fall has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. Dr. Jan Adams, who operated on Donda West last fall, was driving on a suspended license from a previous DUI. Police said Dr. Jan Adams was seen using an off-ramp to get on a freeway early Thursday in the Northern California town of Vallejo, and was driving on a suspended license from a previous DUI. The former host of TV's "Plastic Surgery: Before and After" had operated on 58-year-old Donda West the day before she died of likely heart disease coupled with surgery complications. The state was investigating whether Adams' medical license should be revoked or suspended because of two previous alcohol-related arrests.

Comment: IM sorry but SERIOUSLY! First of all he has money he will pay. BUT why that story with Dr. Jan continuasly talks about Miss West. Thats Ignorant. It didnt have nothing to do with her. His drunk a$$ was pulled over not her. I hate the media.

Comment: Oh please, Kanye don't owe them nada. If he didn't sign for the loan then why should he be held accountable? All she left was $250,000 and that's a drop in the bucket on the balance. They had better thank their lucky stars that Kanye ain't like average folks dreaming for someone to die and leave them 250g's b/c they wouldn't even have that to look foward to. To all of my creditors when I die ya'll ain't getting shyt. All bets are off once the dirt hits the casket.

Name: CrazzeeGyrl
Comment: Southernbelle - just leave whatever money and %*$ets you have to your pet. LOL! That'll %*$! really %*$! of your creditors.

Comment: Hum...didn't know EUR used hieroglyphics for a.ss and p.iss. Thus my comments to Southernbelle.

Comment: Great idea CrazzeeGyrl. To my goldfish I leave my coveted Thriller jacket, my album collection, my 8 track, my rock collection, all of my furniture (from Uncle Hanks Furniture and Fish plate Shop), my Jamaican Joe t-shirts and bell bottomed jeans. Now the creditors can seize all of that LOL.

Comment: Southern.. when ur parents die their debt doesn't just wash away. They go after the next of kin. Kanye has to pay them or sell it. I would sell the place but in this market he's not going to get what he owes.

Comment: Unless his name is on the loan, Kanye ain't liable for that loan. They can certainly file against the estate, but $250,000 is all that's there. If it looks like it might work out from an investment standpoint for Kanye, cool, then he can wade in deeper if he likes, but he isn't liable beyond what the estate might be able to pay.

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: @ Mas90, yeah right. I wish one of my parent's creditor's would call me asking for money. They thought Shaq's freestyle was ignorant *in my Joker's voice* Wait till they get a hold of me LOL. I'd give them a map to the graveyard and tell them to collect away!

Comment: southern: you ain't neve rlied about it. the first time I ever cursed in front of my mom is when a bill collector called and got a little too fly LOL

Name: McNasty
Comment: If he just got control filing paperwork seems premature. Southernbelle Kanye is responsible for any and all debt left by his mother (he is the executor of her estate and all her debts have to be paid out of that) and especially because he no doubt bought the condo for her. Him being kind of young and never experiencing death this close he probably didn't have a clue as to what was supposed to happen next and then there is the grieving process, I'm sure this isn't the only thing that will fall through the cracks.

Comment: ....and my worn out shoes....

Comment: There is more to this story than written. Yes, the estate is responsible for the debt, but they wouldn't have been able to hold him responsible for the amount over and above the value of the estate unless he signed something; which makes me believe that he may have cosigned for his mother's mortgage. Plus, they could have simply foreclosed on the property. So McNasty, you are right, he either bought it for her or cosigned because if not the most they would have been able to get is the 250k in which her estate is valued.

Comment: NewSchool>>> They mention Donda West's name in the story with Jan Brown because if they didn't everyone would be like: "Jan Brown? Who the hell is that and why is this news?!?" I guess it gives the story a little more punch. Southernbelle>>> A map to the graveyard...you's a fool! LMAO!!!

Name: Mas90
Comment: I guess some of you think when u die your debts do too but they don't.

Name: MzTee
Comment: Mas90...your debts die with you if you don't have any next of kin because there is no one the creditors can collect from. Kanye pay off the debt and keep it moving.

Name: Exmun
Comment: A bit of misinformation being reported above. The debt from a deceased person does not pass on to the next of kin. In Dr. West's case, she was unmarried at the time of her death. Her %*$ets and debts are owned by her estate. As her child Kanye gets to share in the benefits of her estate. But that is his choice. The debt doesn't travel to him unless he signed for it. He has a few choices in resolving his mother's estate. He can pay off or pay down the mortgage with the estate's %*$ets and/or transfer the property to his name through the probate process. He could, in theory, make the business decision to walk away if he believes that the %*$et (the condo) is not worth the amount of the mortgage and that the estate does not have sufficient %*$ets to cover the debt. He could put in some of his personal money to cover the defficiency given that he will get the property in the probate process as her next of kin. But the decision to claim the condo is his choice. And the article is as usual to EUR a bit sketchy on details. The judge ordered the estate to pay the mortgage, not Kanye as an individual. If Kanye was specifically ordered, it was as the personal representative of Donda West's estate.

Comment: READ PEOPLE!!! It is perfectly for someone to file a claim against someone's estate. Nobody is asking Kanye to personally pay for the delinquent mortgage. If he was on title, they could do that, but they only filed a claim against her estate to force a sale of the property so they can get their money, period. Damn!!!

Name: PHScott
Comment: ...that should read perfectly legal...
