Comment: A relaxed attitude lengthens life; jealousy rots it away. Proverbs 14:30
If life hasn't treated us fairly, we may think we have a right to be jealous of others, especially those who have more than we think they deserve. But jealousy only robs us of our inner peace. Be good to yourself--say no to jealousy and yes to contentment

Comment: The Word of the Day for July 09, 2008 is:
career • \kuh-REER\ • verb
: to go at top speed especially in a headlong manner
Example Sentence:
The nervous passengers gripped their seats and exchanged anxious looks as the bus careered down the icy road.
|
|
|
Name:
asize12
Comment: WOW! I didn't know that 'career' had a different meaning! I swear, ya learn something new err'day! *****Did you know?
Chances are you're very familiar with the noun "career" meaning "a profession followed as a permanent occupation." What you may not know is that the word "career" got its start in the world of medieval tournaments. Jousting required knights to ride at full speed in short bursts, and 16th-century English speakers used the noun "career" (from Middle French "carriere") to refer to such gallops as well as to the courses knights rode. By the mid-17th century, the verb had acquired its general "go fast" meaning, and by the 19th century the noun had developed the workaday use that is common today. (In case you're wondering, "career" is not related to "careen," which also means "to move at high speed"; "careen" has nautical origins, tracing to the Latin word for "hull.")

Comment: *****LETMEIN, not sure where you work but I just got this email from a co-worker:***** Last Wednesday evening at 5:30 a lady in our office was attacked in the parking garage on Baltimore between 11th and 12th streets. He tried to get her in the trunk of her car but he thought he was hitting the trunk button on her key ring and hit the panic button instead, when he did this he loosened his grip around her neck and she was able to fight him off screaming and running down the stairs so loudly that the security guards in our building (which is across the street) heard her. The guy stole her vehicle and they haven't caught him or found her car. She has a neck strain and bruises around her neck. Be very careful when going to your parking garage. You never know what crazy person may be lurking around the corner just waiting......

Then he tells me I had a sexy voice and he would pay me to talk dirty to him sometimes. He says he has alot of money from his real estate business. He goes on to say if I agree to do this for him, he will give me $3000 tomorrow. He said he responds to ads b/c he has the means to help people out. I told that fool to lose my number and never call me again. Now I'm thinking he was the one who called me private at 3am and at 9am. But I dont' answer private calls. Comment: Dang, $15 per mo. for a gas bill? I'm jealous! The gas co. in St. Louis has been ripping people off for years. Our gas bill here has QUADRUPULED within the last 10 years. Our bill in the winter was about $400 per mo. and that, my friends, is why we decided to go all electric. Do you know those bas.tards put the remaining gas bill balance on our credit report? I can't stand Laclede Gas! Most people in the Lou are going all electric cuz nobody can afford to pay the gas bill. Or they do what my momma does...she has a hot water heater so in the warm months she lets them turn the gas off, pay it down a bit during the summer, then on Nov. 1st she gets on budget billing and gets it turned back on and her bill is like $300 - $400 per mo. too. It's just ridiculous! NO utility bill should be as high as a car note!

Comment: LAS VEGAS - Polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs was taken from jail in Arizona to a Las Vegas hospital for what the sheriff described as a serious medical problem.
Jeffs, 52, was brought to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center on Tuesday, authorities said.
Mohave County Sheriff Tom Sheahan didn't specify Jeffs' medical problem, but said it was serious enough to move him about 100 miles from Kingman Medical Center to the Las Vegas hospital.
Jeffs is president of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints — an insular faith of nearly 6,000 people. The faith practices polygamy in arranged marriages that have sometimes involved underage girls.
One of their ranches was raided in west Texas in April, setting off a lengthy legal battle over the custody of hundreds of children.
Jeffs was convicted by a Utah jury last year on two counts of first-degree felony rape as an accomplice. He was sentenced to two consecutive terms of five years to life in prison for his role in the 2001 marriage of a 14-year-old follower to her 19-year-old cousin.
Jeffs is charged in Arizona as an accomplice with four counts of sexual conduct with a minor stemming from the marriages of two girls. He had also been charged with four counts of incest as an accomplice, but those charges were dropped last month.
The sect leader has had several health complications during his jail stay, including a trip to a prison infirmary because of a self-imposed fast. Jeffs also attempted suicide last year and was seen throwing himself against the walls and banging his head, authorities said.
Jeffs' Las Vegas lawyer, Richard Wright, did not immediately respond Wednesday to messages from The Associated Press.
Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center spokesman Dan Davidson said he had no patient listed under Jeffs' name, and said he could provide no further information.
In dropping the accomplice to incest charges last month, Mohave County Superior Court Judge Steven Conn found that state incest law does not apply to the arranged marriages of two teenage girls and their older male relatives.

Comment: I did some research and figured out what's wrong with baby sis: Hyperemesis Gravidarum
Hyperemesis gravidarum is a condition characterized by severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and electrolyte disturbance. Mild cases are treated with dietary changes, rest and antacids. More severe cases often require a stay in the hospital so that the mother can receive fluid and nutrition through an intravenous line (IV). DO NOT take any medications to solve this problem without first consulting your health care provider.
Why is this happening to me?
Do not worry. Your body is not trying to reject the baby as some people used to think. The majority of pregnant women experience some type of morning sickness (70 - 80%). In about 1% of all pregnancies, the woman will experience extreme morning sickness called hyperemesis gravidarum. It is believed that nausea is caused by a rise in hormone levels; however, the absolute cause is still unknown. Hyperemesis gravidarum cannot be prevented, but you can take comfort in knowing that there are ways to manage it.

What are the treatments for hyperemesis gravidarum?
In some cases hyperemesis gravidarum is so severe that hospitalization may be required. Hospital treatment may include some or all of the following:
· Intravenous fluids (IV) – to restore hydration, electrolytes, vitamins, and nutrients
· Tube feeding:
o Nasogastric – restores nutrients through a tube passing through the nose and to the stomach
o Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy – restores nutrients through a tube passing through the abdomen and to the stomach; requires a surgical procedure
· Medications – metoclopramide, antihistamines, and antireflux medications*
Other treatments may include:
· Bed Rest –This may provide comfort, but be cautious and aware of the effects of muscle and weight loss due to too much bed rest.
· Acupressure – The pressure point to reduce nausea is located at the middle of the inner wrist, three finger lengths away from the crease of the wrist, and between the two tendons. Locate and press firmly, one wrist at a time for three minutes. Seabands also help with acupressure and can be found at your local drug store.
· Herbs – ginger or peppermint
· Homeopathic remedies are a non-toxic system of medicines. Do not try to self medicate with homeopathic methods; have a doctor prescribe the proper remedy and dose.
· Hypnosis
* When it comes to medications, it is very important that you weigh the risks and the benefits. Some drugs may have adverse effects on you or the development of your baby. Discuss the risks and side effects of each drug with your health care provider.
Where can I get more help?
To get more information on hyperemesis gravidarum you can go to the HER (Hyperemesis Education & Research) Foundation.
GOOD LUCK AND HANG IN THERE, MOMS!

Comment: Loose booty only comes from a laxative not the lemonade mixture. You'll do tee tee not boo boo. I put too much cayenne in the last one I drank. It made my stomach burn a little. I don't know if I'll be able to continue. I was reading Don Colberts book Toxic Relief and he said you shouldn't do the cleansing if you take blood pressure medicine. I take it daily so I need to figure out what I'll do. I guess I have to gauge it day by day.

Comment: AS12...*raising hand* I am a survivor of hyperemesis during my pregnancy. And I must say that the experience is something I never hope to have again. After several weeks of vomitting & naseau, sleepless nights, weight loss, & etc., I yelled at my doctor and told him there was def. something wrong with me, this is not normal. He admitted me to the hospital and i was diagnosed. 1st visit they put me on this drug that kept me in a fog. I would only wake in time for the next dose. Crazy. 2nd hospitalization, they did IV treatments twice a week then put me on a chemo med that ceases vomitting. And sherbert every 3 hours. I was able to go back to work in my 5th/6th month. And delivered a healthy baby. That was a time!!! E-me if your sis needs more information.

Comment: OSUN, I tried your remedy of peroxide last night. I took a cotton ball and held it there for like 5 minutes, then got another cotton ball and soaked it in alcohol and held it for 5 minutes and then put a lot of neosporin & some aveeno cream I had in my cabinet on it and today it's not itching at all... matter of fact, it's really not even swollen anymore either. I think the shirt I had on yesterday irritated it more than anything else. Good looking out on the peroxide!

Comment: OSUN, no, I can't do that either. I gave up the alcohol so I can get these 10 pounds back off. When I gain weight, the first place it goes is to my stomach and that's not cute. I have to get back down to pimpin size by 8/7. Alcohol is my biggest waste of calories (added with the weekly pizza that I've also cut out). So I decided no drinking in July... so far, so good but it's not fun!! And I know if I go to happy hour, I'll be tempted to drink.

If I ever eat a cooked veggie, it has to be in a soup of something otherwise I make myself gag because it all gets all soft and mushy. I'm the weirdest person with food... if it's mushy, I'll almost vomit... I hate mushy food.

Comment: 12, you can eliminate muffin top... just buy bigger clothes. I'm regularly a 10 but last night I bought 2 skirts in a size 12 because they were hiked up in the back and because it looked like I had a baby gut in the front... bought a bigger size and everything looks nice and smooth again. No one has to know what size you wear - as long as you're comfortable and you think you look good - f everybody else. Size and age are such vague numbers... don't pay attention to them.

I switched OBGYN's mid pregnancy b/c I needed someone who'd listen to me. Plus all the elder women in my life were giving me home remedies and saying I should try to think more positively. *sigh* Hard to do when u r hugging a bowl 24/7. But changing my OBGYN was the BEST thing I could have done and from that point I received excellent care and someone who was very proactive not reactive. That is key. A woman & GOD know her body. Comment: Hi everybody!!!! Hope you're all well. I have to respond to you Size12, and I'm with HersheysKiss... I understand obstetrician loyalty, but I was really sick during my first pregnancy, and I changed doctors as well, b/c I felt the first one was like telling me to 'man-up' and deal with with. It was so bad that I considered termination because even though I knew a baby was gonna be the end result, I started questioning my abilities to be a mother because of how sick the first part made me. I changed doctors, received medication, and went on to a healthy pregnancy. I even had to have my cervic sewn up because I had thrown up so much I was pushing the baby downward way to early. Just something for you to think about. Your sister has my prayers and sympathies.

Comment: 12 - that's funny! Reminds me of my mom. She tried that with me (and I was notoriously picky). I remember being VERY defiant when she told me we were having liver and onions one night. I stood up and told her I would not eat any living creature's liver and that it was just wrong! I told her I was going to tell my grandma and I did just that. My grandma laughed so hard and asked me if I wanted her to bring me something to eat... I can't remember what I ate that night but I know it wasn't liver. To this day, we still laugh about the liver & onions!! Oh gawd, we also have a place here called Go-Chicken-Go and they sell fried livers & gizzards and my boyfriend loves it but I won't even let him kiss me if he eats that stuff!! He has to brush first! Eating a liver just seems so wrong. And what the hell is a gizzard?

Comment: Lovely> thats funny i don't like certain things on my plate mixing like I put my pancakes, french toast, etc. on a different plate than my bacon, sausage, eggs or hashbrowns b/c I hate for the syrup to mix with any of that, although I love mixing my eggs with the breakfast meat. I don't like mushy, soggy bread so I keep my bread separate if I have anything that may emit juice on my plate like collards or something like that. YUK! Mushy bread is disgusting. My Grandaddy used to do the same thing with his food and if there was no bread in the house, he would say "Pass me them damn cornflakes" and he would sprinkle those all over his lovely plate of roast beef with gravy, mashed potatoes and collards. he says its all going down the same pipe. I vomited in my mouth. He was hilarious though, and I miss him terribly.

Comment: 12, my myspace is blocked and the only 'friends' i have are a bunch of my cousins (most of them are younger than me) and and handful of people from my old job and a handful of people from college. I've never accepted anyone I didn't have a personal relationship with because I just never wanted folks I know all up in my business like that. That's also the reason I've had the same pic on there for so long - it's just not a priority to me. You can look it up though, I don't care.

Comment: OSUN...I'm not bitter about the AKAs...that happened in 1979. Although I dealt with what I now understand was racism prior to that incident, I think that was the first time it was presented to me in that manner. Even now, I can remember not knowing how to respond but knowing that it was wrong that the AKA POC for the school could be so blatant about it. I'll never forget how she treated me when she communicated with me on the develoment of the book. It was as if I had done something horrible to her and she hated me for it. But at 17, you don't always understand people's prejudices, let alone that they come from someone who typically has been the recipient. But my feelings about sororities are pretty ambivalent for that reason. I would not encourage my children to join them. But, I wouldn't stop them. I just wouldn't support any related activity.

Comment: Rumors have been swirling for years that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith are swingers, so I guess this comes as no surprise to some, but Will recently told a British magazine, "I'll tell my wife if I need to have sex with someone else." Each of them, he claims will say: "I’m not going to do it if you don’t approve of it."
Will says, 'Our perspective is, you don’t avoid what’s natural and you’re going to be attracted to people.’
But Will claims he's not sure what he'd do if Jada wanted to take another lover.
‘I don’t know how I’d feel,’ he confesses. ‘But I know I would react better than if I found out about it afterwards.’

She did have a picture on Facebook and her azzfriend (sorry, boyfriend) said something deragatory on it. It was a lie and I knew it was a lie but still. I told my daughter that my friend's daughter saw it and told my friend about it and my friend in turn told me. I told her if she didn't remove it immediately I would ban her from the computer. No problems since. Uh she does cuss though, **hmm wonder where she gets that from** but I don't say anything about that.
