Comment: You know, whenever I got to a hotel I usually "plop my behind" on the toilet without even thinking -- because I believed that housekeeping "cleaned" the seat. Not no mo'!!! I will ALWAYS take my wipes and disenfectant with me, henceforth. And I won't be sleeping under the bed spread anymore either!

Comment: Most of this is much to about nothing. This type of reporting is basically sensational and have very little basis in science. If you were to run a blue over your body at this very moments, you would discover all types of bacteria and germs; they are everywhere, all the time. If fact, exposure to germs is especailly important to young children. Medical studies have shown that toddlers exposed to common household bacteria are less likely to develop allegies and other conditions than those in which parents constandly wipe everything down with anti bacteria wipes. Exposure to germs is very important to building a child's immune system. Therefore, unless your hotel has some creepy crawlers like bedbugs you are going to be fine.

Comment: Yes, we have our own germs and bacteria, but I don't agree that this is much ado over nothing. The difference is that the germs and bacteria in a hotel are not MY family's germs. We have no idea of the former guests health, hygiene or habits. I don't want a bedspread laying against my body or face with feces smears from some former occupant because they don't wipe well and come and plop on the bed after they use the toilet. Yuck! I don't want semen crust from somebody, anybody, in contact with me either. So, I'll be taking precautions and keeping myself healthy. I'm doing something right -- my child has been extraordinarily healthy in her 13 years. Never had a chest cold until she was 9 and has barely ever had to see a MD for anything other than routine check ups. Now her bones.... well, that's a different story -- three broken arms (I was never present when they happened -- always at school -- so get those little thoughts of abuse out of your head LOL) better safe than sorry -- keep some sanitary wipes and disinfectant with you when you travel!
