I remember back in the 90s when this was an email subscription only, with not even a website. The EUR may ultimately become a victim of their own success. Comment: Bill actually didn't cut Lisa over the movie,that happened much later over other issues,Carl Payne who played Theo's friend Cockroach and later Cole on Martin supposedly was fired because he and Bill clashed over him getting a haircut,while I've disliked some things about Bill he did take a few stands over some issues at NBC that he certainly deserves credit for.

I don't know who to believe on this one. I wouldn't put it past Bill, and he did fire his t.v. daughter from "A Different World" because of a scene she did in a movie, ("Angel Heart" with Mickey Rourke). He ended up bringing her back on Cosby because the show needed a boost, which ultimately is the reason why we have a 400 million Raven Symone today.

Comment: kwrob: you have to understand that when Cosby put his show on the air, he always said that his show was designed to show the black family in an more accurate light, a positive light. and lisa doing that scene was not in with what he was trying to portray. besides if memory serves me, there was more to it than just that scene. but he always tried to help her, which was also noted in the press...that's why he brought her back. if he shows that kind of compassion to another actress, why would he blackball terrence howard? makes no sense.

Comment: The more to it you all are looking for is the lie she told on him. Lisa Bonet told the media that Cos co signed her doing the movie when in actuality he did not. When she spoke to him about it he told her that it was not representative of the image she portrayed on the Cosby show. Felecia Rashad told her that if she felt strongly about it go ahead but to also consider there may be consequences and repercussions. As for the little lying girl whose mother told her Cos was her dad - she's prolly out now but she did jail time for extortion.

EUR posts an article bout TH/Cosby, contacted by Cosby cuz he was very concerned about how he's being portrayed. Cosby talks to TH. TH says he taught him a lesson. People from the Cosby camp can't remember nething. (uhmm..it was 30 years ago) No denial. Then a denial from somebody in TH's camp wanting a retraction. EUR wanted the retraction directly from TH. That didn't happen. Now this article. SO the moral is, TH said Cosby said. Cosby said he didn't say. EUR said until TH personally say he didn't say..that won't retract what was said. Now this story. I mean if this ain't the Wendy Williams show redux. Good grief.

Comment: I am not sure that Bill Cosby is telling the truth. I am always fishy about the "I dont remember." It does not mean you did not say it, it just says if you did or did not, you dont recall. I think Terrence was telling the truth, but he just has pressure now from Cosby (still an influential person) to recant. This hurts Cosby's blacks need to do better theory. If what Terrence is saying is true, that means that Cosby is a crab that does not help other blacks. Now we know that he does. And that is commendable.But everybody gets cocky now and again. Terrence could have stepped to him back then, and he showed him what could happen. Now I dont think that Cosby followed him around and blackballed. But I think whatever projects cosby had a hand on, his people probably decided on someone else.

Terrence's scene probably got cut - for whatever reason, and in his mind he created this whole 'Cosby blackballed me' scenario because that's what he needed to make it through his dry spell. Kudos to Cosby for asking Terrence to clarify the story. Note to Terrance: you're an in-demand actor now, so why dredge up this old drama? Just man up and move on instead of crying like a little biatch! LOL!

Time to chill. <> I remember when Angel Heart came out and people were sayin' that he was upset with Lisa cos of the sex scene with Mickey Roarke (sp?) in the chicken blood not bein' parallel with her wholsome character on the Cosby Show. But I was like, she's an ACTRESS. Did she sign a contract that said she can only accept wholesome roles whilst she's on the show? The thing that kinda irks me is, did Cos think he owned his cast in a way? Firing an actor for getting a hair cut? Publicly chastising an actress for taking a different sort of role? Sorry. Seems a bit much to me.

Comment: Thanks McNasty. Okay, I can see how a morals clause would be relevant to Lisa takin' that role in Angel Heart, but what's it got to do with an actor gettin' a haircut? Then again I know some models and actors have such clauses where they have to stay at a specific weight (Halle Berry's mentioned havin' something like that in her contract) or do anything that would drastically alter their appearance. Christy Turlington had one like that back in the day when she was under contract with Calvin Klein. She cut off her long hair for a pixie cut and all hell broke loose, but it was in her contract that she couldn't alter her appearance. I guess the Cockroach had one like that too. *shruggin' shoulders*

Think about this - You can have something happen that totally shaped you or changed your mindset or whatever and the person involved doesn't remember it because it wasn't as significant to them. I had a history teacher who was my favorite teacher. She would actually call on me and I was very quiet. Well, years later when I went back to tell her I just got a job teaching history, I told her I appreciated her for that. She then told me she was calling on me so I would stop reading my romance novels in her class. I was like - dayum! Here I thought it was because she recognized some hidden spark of intelligence in me and it wasn't even about that. Wow. *hanging head in disappointment*

And I never would have heard about this story if Cosby hadn't come forward today. I know he is probably sensitive to how others perceive him, but he is just drawing more attention to this. Terrence Howard has a good career, and Oscar nomination, and is getting ready to put out a CD. Whatever did or did not happen...he overcame it 16 years ago.
But for my part...I don't believe Terrence. Terrence Howard has proven himself to be less than truthful. He has been saying derogatory things about a few people in interviews lately and getting away with it. He probably thought he could do the same thing to Cosby, but he was wrong.

Cosby will not stop Terrence's career one bit. This dude is all over the screen. The latest one was Ironman. Plus Cos does not have the same pull he used to, especially in film. Most of the time, getting a role depends on who you know, and what kind of relationship you have with some of your co-stars. If you did good work in a fim or t.v. show, the people you worked with will recommend you for another role, especially if they are producing it. How many times have you seen a film and you remember some of the actors being in several other films together before?

Cosby and Alvin Pouissant had put too much investment into the "image" of the functional well-off black family for anyone to veer off that image on OR off the set. EVERYONE else understood that, and they've talked about it as much in the anniversary show interviews. It's not fair to Lisa or "Cockroach" but that is how Cosby rolled back then. Much like the Obama camp today. Tight.

Comment: Well, one thing is for sure. Terrence has his own personal reason for dissing Cosby at this point in his career. Based on some comments here, I don't believe Terrence is just flat out lying on Bill Cosby. Obviously something went down between those two that left Terrence feeling mad as hell toward Cosby -- and this is Terrence's way of getting back at Bill! Especially now that Terrence is successful and Cosby can't touch his career as an established outstanding actor. But still, to make public disparaging remarks against Bill Cosby is foolish when you got it made. However, payback is a mutha as they say! Besides, Terrence is a good looking light skin brutha too. It could have been that Cosby didn't like him for that reason IF we get into how dark skin blacks see light skin blacks. Bill is dark compared to Terrence.

Terrence Howard on the other hand chose to fight his battle through the media. I'm sure he could have easily gotten Mr. Cosby's contact info and talked to him privately about this matter and cleared everything up.
I really wonder what is Terrence's motive behind all of this? This story is 20 years old. Is he that desperate for publicity for his CD that he would resort to this?

Comment: Billy Cosby appears to have gone through the correct channels to solve this problem. First and foremost, he has a right to demand an explanation for something that's being said against him. Call it slander or defamation of character, either way, I smell a lawsuit on the horizon, if Terrence Howard continues to openly lie about what really happened, if it ever did. These days many people seem to have a beef about Mr. Cosby simply expressing the truth, with regards to our people and the behavior that some of us appear to embrace. In all honesty, I would rather hear the truth and deal with it, instead of a watered down version of another 100 years of constantly pointing the finger of blame at others for our own mistakes. Call me old fashion, but alittle constructive criticism is always good if it helps us to grown.
