Comment: I'm glad Sharpton stepped up to remind people Jesse Jackson should not be abandoned. Yes, "he is somebody"!

Name: HarrisThomas
Comment: the issue is not whether JJ is "somebody", after all JJ's famous chant is "I Am Somebody" . . . . . JJ is a seasoned, savvy political being who knows the dangers of heartfelt, candid expression [say "Hymietown" somebody] . . . . . JJ's heartfelt, candid expressions about BHO in a Faux News studio seems as though they were meant to be captured and shared . . . . . . JJ is "somebody" amongst the hierarchy of the Chicago old guard and that old guard is not happy that BHO did not consult them or ask for their blessings . . . . . . that old guard does not want BHO to succeed

Comment: In understand where he's coming from but no one, not even Jesse has a right to think he wouldn't be taken to task in light of what this era means to billions of people of color. We don't have to walk on eggs but we do need to be sure of who we are speaking to and when and because Jesse has committed this particular faux pas before - and he's a civil rights icon - more is indeed expected of him and he should have known better. Vacation? good - he needs the rest.

Comment: I co-sign with HarrisThomas. I'll step up and say "Hymietown." JJ's faux pas with the "N" word reminded me how you'd better watch out if you're having a conversation with a white person who uses a racial slur to speak about someone of another race, because you can bet your azz that he/she will use a racial slur to refer to YOUR race when you're out of earshot. My belief is that EVERYTHING under the sun happens for a reason. I have NEVER liked this man. I am SO glad he outed HIMSELF.

Comment: The law of the jungle dictates that when an old azzed lion, no matter how ferocious he WAS during his heyday, becomes senile, useless and non-productive, the younger lions will insist that he may not mate with the young lionesses, step to the end of the line and turn in his lion ferocity credit card. Jesse Jackson is a relic of the Civil Rights Era and has seen his star crash to earth. Obama is a young lion who now leads the lion kingdom. Jesse has lost his teeth.

Name: PRDC
Comment: Soory but for a gorwn man the likes of Jessie to say what he said was NO mistake...he meant every word he said...the thing is, he didn't know that his mic was still open. That's probably something he says all the time. The thing that gets me....wasn't he one of the ones that wanted to do away with the N word...marching, holding meeting, getting on the rappers and everybody else for using it. I always said and I will probably always use the word. Its our word now like Whoopie said, we can use it but if any other person outside the race should call you one, its up to you to take care of the situation how you want to take care of it. Its so strange now that because white people can't use it we can't, but before when we didn't like using it they did and wouldn't stop. I know who and what I'm and name calling rolls off when I want it to roll off. jesse knew better and that was no mistake.....

Comment: comment I'm loving so far: poster: fanteeking comment: "...turn in his lion ferocity credit card." priceless.

Comment: Al, really what type of example are U...you wasn't paying your taxes until they got you. Come on now.. be who and what U R. Get your house in order before trying the preach to the race.

Name: queeniebunz
Comment: >PRDC - I'm scratching my head at you. Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't you the one on here always preaching about this and preaching about that? If so, why do you use the n-word? Last I read, it wasn't in the Bible. Jesus wasn't at the last supper raising his wine glass, asking His n*ggas to remember Him. Just trying to understand your mentality.

Name: Disillusioned_Jones
Comment: I'm trying not to be judgmental in the way I summarize the JJ "N" word incident. But time and time again I explain to my kids that too many people put their faith in man. When you do that you will be greatly disappointed because you will quickly realize that man is often not much different from you or the next man. How many preachers, teachers, mayors, congressmen and presidents have let you down? I pray for JJ and the "leaders" of this world. I appreciate the fact that people like them at least have the GUTS to not just talk about what's wrong but have the courage to TRY to fix what's wrong. But at the same time, times have changed so much and now JJ and AL should be mentoring the next generation's leaders and activists. JMO.

Comment: I co-sign with Queenie. I AM NOT UNDERSTANDING YOU, PRDC. I am shocked that you side with that idiotic Whoopi Goldberg on the "N" word issue. I have always thought of yours as the voice of morality on this web site. I can't BELIEVE you use the "N" word!!!!

Name: blackdragon
Comment: Jesse Jackson is a hypocrite. It's over for him. PRDC, you represent why some blacks are backward. The word is not "ours." In case you haven't noticed, other people use it, too. To say a group of people cannot say or do something because of their racial or ethnic background is racist and segregating. The word wasn't invented by blacks in the first place. Therefore, you cannot reclaim something you didn't create. And, just so you know, white racists are laughing at you and other blacks who use the n-word because you're doing their dirty work. Also, if you really knew who you were, you wouldn't allow yourself to be called out of your name. A real woman would never allow herself to be called the b-word. Lastly, the context argument is a bunch of crap because we all know what the word is and where it comes from. It's not positive at all and it can't be made positive. It's not revolutionary in any way. People who think otherwise are historically ignorant.

Comment: Al you betta watch yo back cause you'll be the next one Jessie talking about cutting off your balls! And no one wants to see your old grey balls.

Name: queeniebunz
Comment: >blackdragon - I said pretty much what you said when the Whoopi/Elizabeth H thing hit. That word wasn't ours until peckerwood cracker slave owners gave it to us. Wasn't no Africans over in the mother land calling each other n*ggas. And why the heyall can you justify taking a word used to degrade your people for centuries and "make it yours"? You don't see Chinese people saying "that's my chink!" or Jewish people saying "No, my fellow kike. It isn't like that". We are the only morons who actually let that kind of ignorance cross our lips. Well, some of us, that is. Let me clarify.

Name: McNasty
Comment: LMBAO@Queenie! Sheeeiiiitttt - I ain't shocked!

Name: Mas90
Comment: Queenie good point.

Name: bigchassie
Comment: QUEENIE>i cosign with ya too. because where did the N word first orginate? i know our ansestors did not call each other %*$!(@ before we were sold as slaves? THAT WORD CAME FROM THE YT MAN! so why claim a derogitory word that was given to your ansestors by slaveowners?

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: Queenie/Grace..So now using foul language is a moral issue? Somebody saying nig ger means they lack morals? Does that apply to all foul language or just the word nig ger. That doesn't make a lot of sense. Dragon..I do appreciate your vigor but you consistently regurgitate bullshyt. Your arugment is, "I know history. Because I do, I get to decide what words are permissible in the english lexicon. If you do not agree what what I say, then you are ignorant." Where that argument fails is when you consider the hosts of words which have double..many times triple meanings because society has decided to do so. Those people aren't historically ignorant becuz they chose to alter the meaning of what a word was originally defined as. That would mean that there should be no such thing as slang/street vernacular etc. You can have an opinion on whether or not such words are appropriate for public consumption such as bytch, mfkr, sob, fk, nygger etc. But to argue that words can/should only be used in its original context is just silly.

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: Queenie...unless we are around asians/jews the majority of the time, we dont know what they say to each other. We can legimately argue that you dont hear them use "demeaning terms" pubicly as we do. But, to say that they NEVER say is talking about some'n of which we have no insight.

Name: Grace12_34
Comment: Musbdherbs, I meant that to me, PRDC is like the SUPEREGO of EUR. Like Queenie said, PRDC is always on here saying this shouldn't be done and that shouldn't be done because IT IS WRONG, etc. PRDC's use of the "N" word isn't consistent with the sermons she preaches here is all I am saying.

Name: blackdragon
Comment: I've been around Asian-Americans and Jewish-Americans and I never heard them refer to each other with ethnic slurs. When I say "historically ignorant," I'm talking about the whole "take the sting out" thing has been done before. People have been using profanity and ethnic slurs over the years. The "take the sting out" thing doesn't work because people know what they mean, know their etymology, and many people don't want to be called those things.

Name: Dean32
Comment: Al Sharpton, For self only jesse jackson is a joke. Kick his old out of touch damaged minded way of thinking self under the bus. Why should AA's stand up for this old fake?

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: Grace..oh ok..I haven't really seen much of that from PRDC..maybe she posts on the F4A more than the other boards I regularly visit. I still contend that 'wrong' in the case of language is in the hear of the beholder..lol Some people believe that pastors shouldn't use profanity. Some do not. I do ascribe moral tests to people 'simply' because of the language they use. Bdragon, if you read my post I as.serted that most of us are not around them enough (meaning most of the time) to know what they say when others aren't listening. We've just become callous and don't care who is w/in earshot. That does not mean that they don't say it at all..which again, is impossible to know. No one would've thought JJ called folks nig gers but i bet you those close to him weren't surprised. Also, you will be lucky to find many instances where people call "you" a nig ger. That isn't the opposition. The opposition is against the word being used at all...by nebody...in reference to nething. You are well w/in your right to not want to be called a nig ger and go at people who do so. You do not have the right to tell people that they can't use a word...in their own context..whether you agree w/the context or not. That's my point.

Name: MelodyCool
Comment: I've heard gays, jews and latinos use slurs "with" each other. Google John Leguizamo's one man show "Spic-o-rama" for example. Jews calls themselves self-hating all the time as well and kids around with other labels from what I've heard. Someone once said blacks love their heroes dead...and if Dr. King, Medgar Evers and Malcolm X were alive I'm sure many of you would open your "ungrateful" bowells on them in a heartbeat. Continue thinking we are out of the woods and accepting blacks as the only demographic not entitled collective protection. The "divide and conquer" is complete!

Name: Grace12_34
Comment: Voltaire said, "I may not like what you say, but I will die defending your right to say it." I love this quotation, but for me, it does not apply in to the use of the "N" word.

Name: Grace12_34
Comment: Good grief ... Let me try this again: Voltaire said, "I may not like what you say, but I will fight to the death defending your right to say it." I love this quotation. For ME, it does not apply to the use of the "N" word.

Name: TMan
Comment: LOL! At the end of that Sharpton should have said "To add to that, if I ever say something or slip up like that, I don't want cha'll comin AFTER ME!" LOL! Good way to cover dat Azz, Sharpton. LOL! ;)

Comment: wo asked Al his opinion?

Comment: I don't think Mr. Sharpton needs to defend Jesse, I think Jesse needs to defend Jesse! His remarks were truly hateful and he showed no class, period! Jesse, has done a lot of great memorable things in the past - but someone of his caliber should no better than to say something like what he said during a live segment of tv. Even if you think you are not on the air - you are on the air being recorded and televised. Did he not forget the "hoopla" that Mrs. Bush went through with her charade about Hilary Clinton a few years back? The maelstrom of criticism is to see a potential candidate [Obama] and distinguished Jesse Jackson pitting negative remarks about the presidential hopeful. TO the masses this looked as if Jesse was envious and jealous to the max and that his rhetoric no longer mattered to people of color! Not hating on Jesse, but Jesse you know better and should be ashamed of your actions. There is several other topics that should be addressed in the black community - and putting another brother down is NOT ONE OF THEM for the public to witness! Nuff said!

Name: Taurusingr
Comment: As far as I'm concerned...Jesse threw US "under the bus" a long fukkin time ago! So it's HIS turn to "taste the undercarriage"! y And yeah Al...we all HAVE made mistakes, but NONE OF US were Black Leaders, hatin on OTHER black leaders & keepin all our own people... DOWN!, by working for massa!!! In short?....some "mistakes" are unforgivable & FAR MORE WORSE than others!! One!!

Name: Taurusingr
Comment: P,S,,,And "this" wasn't a mistake anyway!! Jesse "just got caught"!, with his TRUE FEELINGS out there for the world to see! So I ask....where's the "mistake"!?? Not keeping his feelings....to himself!?? Why should someone apologize for what they truly feel!?? I think what Jesse SHOULD apologize for is...being a FAKE AS-S LEADER....ALL THESE DAMN YEARS!!! One!!

Name: Taurusingr
Comment: But I guess..."birds of a feather...." Yall know the rest!!! One!
