NWA, one of the originators of "gangsta" music proclaimed themselves as "disciples" of the streets. Their music was designed to enlighten the masses of the criminal plights plaguing the inner cities. It's since evolved into modern day testimonals from more recent "reformed" criminals. Who seek to enlighten others of their experiences. Most may have not lived the life they portray but in most cases I would assume that they were close enought to it to have a story to tell. For example, Lil Wayne. He never was a hardened criminal. He was rapping when he was a kid. But, he grew up on the tough streets of NO so he wasn't green to the street life. William on the other hand was on the opposite end of the spectrum. He was on the other side of the law (not that that's a bad thing). As educated as I am, I still know if you didn't do dirt, then you don't brag on it b/c you may have to back it up one day.

Comment: Southernbelle, i understand your point,but in case and point, music,movies videos,etc,its all entertainment;(an illusion or imitaion of reality) not actual reality.Thats why these young children are being so mislead, their putting so much truth in their music and actors, athletes,etc..the band kiss for example are we suppose to believe their clowns for real or whatever their suppose to be..If we as people step back and take entertainment for what its for...alot of trouble,depression trying to live up to these entertainer would dye down ...alittle...
