Comment: MO is getting rave reviews for her performance last night. I heard a C-Span caller who was on the fence between McCain and Obama, say Michelle's speech sold her, and she will support Barack. I wonder how many more like that caller are out there. I didn't catch all the speech, but the part I did see was solid. There were a lot of people crying in the audience for some reason (I didn't really see why, lol, but good for them). An aside, I think the cable news' coverage is abysmal. They talked and overanalyzed (and obsessed about Clinton) through most of the speeches. I suggest people tune in to non-pundit coverage like on C-Span or something, if they want to catch the convention.

Comment: TGen --i concur with u on cspan. i watched pretty much the entire coverage on cspan, only tuning into cnn on occasion to hear what some analyst had to say. but i wanted my dnc experience to basically be unfiltered and i got that with cspan. got to hear the band play and everything.

Comment: Very impressive. I felt proud watching Michelle dispel all those "angry-unpatriotic-unpoliticianlike wife" stereotypes/crap with one speech. She was stellar. Very good way to start off the week for the DNC.. NOW, let's see if Hillary can contain herself tonight.

Comment: I agree about C-span. I tried watching the networks but there is so much bias and every other word was HILARY Clinton. I got sick of it and turned to C-span for the rest of the night. Michelle was OUTSTANDING. I was crying almost the whole time. Afterwards I turned to Fox and there was Carl Rove of course spewing his negativity. I immediately turned it off! V-103 just played John Legend's song, We're Out There. Great song. Now they are playing Michelle's speech.

Comment: *in tears* Wow. Look at our First Lady...What an amazing woman Michelle is. She represents Barack and all of us extremely well. She was amazing last night! What a heartfelt speech! It was very moving. She really went into depth about her family, her upbringing, and who she really is as a person. So, if the all the pundits naysayers don't know who Michelle is by now, then they really don't wanna know! Now what? They said they don't really know who Michelle is, she specifically told the world who she is...now what??? They said Obama doesn't have enough foreign policy experience but now Biden is his VP...now what??? What else is left? What other excuse do folks have to go against him now? What, that he's Muslim??? Please! Or you'll hear them say "I still just don't trust him" which is really code for "I ain't voting for that uppity nig.ger". And what was up with those Clinton schizophrenic supporters? Where the hell have they been since June 5th??? I know! Maybe they fell asleep the night before Obama won and they just woke up, yeah, that's it!!! WHAT PART OF SHE LOST DON'T THEY UNDERSTAND??? And Hillary ain't doing a damn thing to discourage this! She & Bill are sittin' back basking in the moment...what an ego Hillary has! What a sore loser she is! IMO, she has not done enough campaigning for Obama. She has not been vocal enough. She just wants to continue to ride this "I have 18 million voters" boat all the way to the inaguration in January. Message to the Hillary-ites...GET OVER IT!!!! And make way for our new President of the United States, Barack Obama!!! *the crowd goes wild* Man...that last sentence sure does have a nice ring to it;-)

Comment: If there was any doubt before there shouldn't be any more. Michelle Obama knocked it out the park - she covered all bases in empassioned detail. The woman's speech gave me chills but for the part where she schmoozed sillary. I know - it was necessary - I still didn't like it but I understand. I was also glad the Ted Kennedy was there and showed overwhelming support for Obama. It was good all around and TVOne had the absolute best coverage - from the black perspective.

Comment: Good post Asize12. About this pundit obsession, "people don't know him" ish, I've come to realize it's b.s. I'd venture to say more people know about the Obamas' story now than the McCains'. People really don't "know" McCain, just the media's image of him. And the media's incessant "Hillaryanism" is repulsive. I think all of this foolishness is going to backfire sooner or later, people will tire of this weak coverage b4 November and seek out other mediums like C-Span or the web or whatever. Msm will [hopefully] be forced to do real journalism sooner or later. About the Hillaryites (read: racists who just can't vote for a Black man), Rachel Maddow had a great word for them last night, "post-rational." "Post-rational" = obsession with a candidate when even the CANDIDATE HERSELF tells you to vote for the other guy! lol They are pathetic, and should be ignored...if only the msm would do just that.

Michelle has the guts, passion, education, loyalty and poise to be a wonderful first lady. She represented for this country last night like no other I've ever heard in my lifetime. Ted Kennedy and Jesse Jackson, Jr. also did their thing. Just looking at the people at the convention and how moved they were with her speech tells me that this country is definitely ready for change. Can their daughters be any cuter? Comment: Michelle O knocked it out of the park last night. Btw, I watched the DNC Convention from a combination of C-Span and PBS... too many damn commentators on the usual suspects of CNN, MSNBC, and Faux News is a non-starter. Man, is it me or is it that every pundit on TV is trying to tell us what we saw with our own eyes. And the scrolling text and update flashes on the bottom of TV screens is distracting, off topic and disturbing. I've gotta hand it to Brian Lamb and the folks as C-Span, they give it to you raw so you can make up your mind for yourself. It's like these MSM commentators think the folks speaking aren't speaking English, so they have to interpret. Annoying as hell!

Afterwards, my husband and I wondered how McCain and his wife could ever connect with people like the Obamas? It's not possible. BTW - I turned to both TV One and BET last night to see the commentary and get a different perspective. Overall the coverage wasn't bad. I particularly liked TV One's coverage because of Joe Madison.

He said the same thing to them. I was so glad to see her. I was clapping and cheering for her and for him. Both of them support each other so well. I don't know if it has ever happened but I have never seen that support in any of the candidates before or even in the presidency. I've seen a small glimpse of it in Bill & Hillary in times past. But I like how Michelle supports her man and how he supports her.

Comment: The travesty of America is that white folks in America have to be "convinced" that Black people's stories are "American" stories. If I hear someone, anyone say that Hawaii (a damn state in our union) is "exotic" I just might snap and so something regrettable. To me it says more about white people whenever there is talk about 'Rack and Michelle O. having to "convince" folks that there story is a good-old fashioned American story. It's like they believe we bleed green blood. Sad state at what it reveals. And as a twist to the oft repeated dating breakup phrase my commentary to folks who need to be "convinced," I say "it's not ME, it's YOU."

Comment: Blackdragon, sorry, CNN does NOT have a "liberal bias." They've spent the last eight plus years trying to prove that they DON'T have a liberal bias, and as a result they've given a pass to Bush, McCain, and the list goes on. They've been cowtowing to the right-wing's erroneous "liberal-bias" claims ever since Rush Limbaugh first opened his big fat ugly mouth. So make no mistake about it, they are NO friends of Obama. And MSNBC has one or two SHOWS with a liberal slant, but the network as a whole is not biased. FauxNews on the other hand, even their news division is tainted. All that said, you're right that C-Span has the most robust non-tainted coverage...

Check on it cuz that's the only news channel that's even somewhat watchable in the evenings. (You're going to love Olbermann's show when you do get it.) Smokie1: "They proved that they are just like everybody else" I know you meant this as a compliment, but please don't fall for the msm's okeydoke. This notion that everything "like us" is right and anything different is wrong. The reality is, we're all different, but we're all Americans. This White supremacy type mentality that "my way is superior and you have to be like me to be okay" is becoming nauseating, the more and more the msm push it. There's nothing wrong with being exceptional. That's what the Obamas (and a lot of others) are.

By the way, Michelle did the d^mn thing which I knew she would. She looked great and was so very passionate just like I knew she would!!!!

Comment: Hey musbdherbs. Yes, the press release about the passing of Stephanie Tubbs-Jones was posted on Hillary's website. I actually cut & pasted the press release that day (August 21st I believe) on the EUR message board. I even gave Hillary credit since she deserved it (this time).

She was soooooooo on point, now let's see how the Rethuglicans and other detractors try to make a dollar out of 15 cents. If anyone now says that they don't know who the Obamas are, they just don't wanna know. It's like a Patti LaBelle concert. If Patti/Michelle don't move you, then call the doctor to check your pulse. Comment: I think Michelle achieved her goal and hit on all of those points eloquently. She looked good, sounded great, and appeared very humble and genuine. She connected with a lot of folks, in particular women, as several of them were openly crying and/or teary-eyed. Hell, she had me choked up there a few times. Now, we'll just have to see how old Hill and Bill do in their efforts to unify the party.

Comment: This is politics folks. Hillary has been in the game long enough to know how to play it.
I think people should not underestimate Hillary Clinton's strategy. She ran a good race and she came in a strong second. That's a lot of votes. Her supporters are not puppets. Some of her supporters will not automatically support Obama just because she says that they should do so. These are the people that Obama and Hillary have to reach.
Obama and his supporter have to give Hillary her "props", not only because she deserves it (even if you didn't support her you have to admit she did her thing) but also because some of her supporters are upset and are ready to jump ship. These supporters can help Obama win or lose and they need to see or feel as if their vote for Hillary was not a waste.
Hillary will do the right thing because ultimately it is about the Democratic Party. When she was running it was all about her (as it should have been) but now it's about the party. She has already thrown her support behind Obama. But she still needs to deal with those supporters who don't want to let go. As much as we may want her to tell these people to get over it and support Obama, it really is not that simple.

Comment: Well done, Mrs. Obama! It was a glorious moment in time. I can only imagine how her mother was feeling. But seeing the tears roll down her cheeks, it was clear that she was looking back over the years up to the present moment. POWERFUL!
Michelle Obama is is a dynamic woman whom I would be proud to call First Lady of this country. I couldn't help but notice that Mrs. Biden wasn't smiling too much. That could be an issue brewing. Hmmm... Talk amongst yourselves.

Comment: We re all adults with a respomsibility to be decent human beings and to do the right thing. No one should have to kiss your butt for a vote. If you are a Democrat, and your candidate loses, then rally around the party unless there are some OTHER issues. Racism is not ok and neither is sexism. Obama ran as an American candidate; Hillary ran as a woman and came up short. I'm not trying to be disrespectful or offend anyone but why are you holding your vote hostage, especially if you are a registered Democrat, putting the future of this country on the line? We've already gone through the process. I just don't get it. Obama didn't steal the primary away from her; sure she had 18 million votes and made progress no woman has ever made, but she still came up short. Must make you feel pretty powerful to know the fate of the party rests in your hands! When Obama wins without you or loses because of you, how are you going to feel, then? This is bigger than the messenger, people. So what it's not in the package you'd like, it's his message. If you love the last 8 years so much, then go for McCain, then. Let's keep it real, you are all adults and have absolutely no precedence for the Clintons.

Comment: Michelle's speech was eloquent, emotional and excellent!!! I deliberately watched it on TV One last night (FOX and CNN always like to nitpick at the mundane and I wasn't trying to hear it). I applaud Ted Kennedy for addressing the convention in spite of his illness - he looked and sounded great. (To Joseph "Clueless" Phillips - in case you're reading this, I'm just waiting for you to make your usual idiotic comment so that I can tell your sorry, backwards, right-winged a-s-s off once again.....)

Comment: McNasty, I'm with you...I also got chills when I watched Michelle's video today on myspace. Barack Obama is one of my friends and he sent out the video.
I wrote a short blog about her at www.princene.blogspot.com My blog sat dormat for many months...now I HAVE SOMETHING TO WRITE ABOUT!!! THIS IS HISTORY. I'm with Eur if they want to compile all our comments about Barack and Michelle, this process and put it out there in book form because once he crosses the line, jumps the broom and marries America, people all over the world will be starving and reaching out for anything they can get their hands on about the 'African Americans.' (It kind of reminds me of the moivie 'Independence Day' when word went out about what the 'Americans' were proposing to do.. Eur might as well become a part of it and us too, who've been on this board all along, either reading or contributing. Remember Obama's message is about what America is not but what it ought to be.
Carlson Pearson prophesied many years ago (I remember it on TBN) that it was the BLACK MAN'S TURN...Shortly after that he got off track and was crucified by most of his supporters, especially Oral Roberts. Well it seems like his prophecy is coming to pass. WE shall see....and register and vote for it!! (That's for the 800 million black folks out there that are not registered yet, we've all got a job to do.)

Comment: >Chassie: Gul, you know that she was no doubt bemoaning the fact that she didn't get that spot, LOL. She will have to be content with second banana instead of First Lady.
>Fragrance: CarlTON crucified HIMSELF. The late Bishop G.E. Patterson, Bishop Blake, T.D. Jakes all tried to talk to him as a brother when he embraced his "new doctrine" that is against the tenets of Christian faith...that is to say that once he espoused that one needn't *accept* Jesus as saviour, that they were "simply saved", he took a position against what the Bible teaches regarding salvation (Christian).
So, he had to be identified as having that position and unfortunately...distanced - so as not to author confusion. If one were Muslim and suddenly started teaching against the Muslim faith, there would be repercussions from the Muslim hierarchy also.
Back to the Obamas discussion. I don't appreciate the authorities taking those threats so lightly. It was not handled as a plot, it was handled merely as a gun violation - which is not nearly as egregious as what it truly was...and it won't be prosecuted as such. The Obama camp should be outraged!

Comment: BO is probably the only person that can restore America in the eyes of the world. The whole world is clowning Bush and America and rightfully so. BO's advantage is he and his family are more like most common folk. If America votes in McCain, they deserve exactly what the hell they get. No one in their wildest dreams thought re-electing Bush would put America on the brink of being a third world country. Why would anybody accept going to war in Iraq when the Iraqis' had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11 or any other major terrorist incident? Who would have thought we would be living in a time where we really seriously could not afford gas, losing our homes like we're renting them, banks going bankrupt, Katrina, food prices going way up, inadequate healthcare for tax paying citizens. If Americans aren't ready for change then we need to be in the state we're in. I know BO is going to be elected because why not drop the mess Bush has created on a Neegro's lap...HOWEVER, DON'T EVER TELL ME WHAT A BROTHA CAN'T DO...

Comment: chass...The son of hip-hop producer Dr. Dre died over the weekend, the music star's rep confirmed to PEOPLE.
Andre Young Jr., 20, was discovered "unresponsive" by his mother at his home in Woodland Hills, Calif., on Saturday morning, according to the L.A. County Coroner's office.
"Dr. Dre is mourning the loss of his son," his rep Lori Earl says in a statement. "Please respect his family's grief and privacy at this time."
Young's mother told police that she attempted to rouse her son at 10:24 a.m. on Saturday, and when she couldn't, she called paramedics. They pronounced him dead at the scene.
Young "had been out with friends" the previous night and returned home around 5:30 a.m., according to L.A. County Coroner's assistant chief Ed Winter. An autopsy was performed Monday. No foul play is expected.
Dr. Dre, whose given name is Andre Young, is one of hip-hop's most prolific musicians. After achieving national spotlight with the rap group N.W.A., Dr. Dre in 1992 released the influential CD, The Chronic, which included the Grammy-winning single "Let Me Ride."
Dr. Dre has four other children: sons Curtis, 26, Marcel, 17, and Truth, 11, and daughter Truly, 7.
