Comment: What an embarrassment. I hope if he has kids, they were "little angels", cause if they were lil' bastids, the playground is gonna be rockin'. Nanny, nanny boo-boo, your daddy is a jail bird!!! I don't understand the law. He's getting 4mos.right? , so in essence, isn't he already sentenced since we know now?

Name: fanteeking
Comment: If little ole me had commited those same felonies I'd be pressing Michigan license plates for 20 years. I shoulda gone to law school so I coulda just broke de law all my life and not worry about going to jail. Lawyers/politicians always get a free pass out of jail and it ain't fair to the rest of us who have to do "real time".

Comment: Homey DaClown has left the 3 ring circus. Well, it's about damn time. Just give MaGilla Gorilla his orange monkey suit & lock his a/s/s up!!! Now, on to more pressing news .....

Name: huey
Comment: what a fat azz looser, now, on to that scottie pippenish looking jump-off of his......she looks as though she has aged 10 years since this debacle.

Name: TGen
Comment: I caught part of what I guess was a final press conference from the [soon to be former] mayor, and it was clear that his very healthy ego is still in tact, lol. But I must say as he itemized all the things his city has supposedly done under his admnistration, it was an impressive list. It struck me then that this downfall is that much sadder because this was probably a very smart, talented, capable guy who pizzed his [political] career away for...? He talked about his family and everything, and he seems to have come from strong roots, something else making this situation sadder. What wasn't sad, but pathetic, was his wife so very enthusiastically giving him the adorning stares and nods of approval, lol. That I found quite nauseating, I must admit. At any rate, somehow the smirk on this guy's face throughout his speech led me to believe he already has some plans in place post-prison, so that makes the sympathy pretty much disintegrate. But Good luck Detroit!

Name: McNasty
Comment: This son of a gun was waiting for the absolute best deal possible. Too bad that no matter how it ends he is totally ruined and unless he changes his name - the one he has won't be worth a tinkers dam.

Name: McNasty
Comment: TGen thats what made this all the more devastating to the city of Detroit! This man actually made an effort early on such that I was always hearing about his accomplishments. Of course for some of the people that actually live in Detroit - let them tell it he didn't do shat! He'll eithr land on his feet or his ego because I get the sense that, even though he spoke the words, Kwame doesn't believe he did anything wrong!

Name: BigBlackRod
Comment: McNasty: not even a TINKER'S dam? It has been a long time since I heard that phrase---even longer since I heard a Black person use it. Don't mind me, I just enjoy colorful linguistics. Thanks. Peace.

Comment: JustTellingTheTruth-Why you wanna be starting something?...We got a Gorilla in jail, Magilla Gorilla in jail...Won't you try him?...Lock him up and fry him, Gorilla in jail...He's real and a heel who thought he was cute...He's major fraud in a monkey suit...(You've been watching the Magilla Gorrilla Show, Starring Kwame, Beatty and richochet rabbit and droop-a-long)...Take our advice at any price a Gorilla like Kwame wasn't very nice...Magilla, Magilla, Gorilla in jail....

Name: Dovelyone
Comment: McNasty: KK wasn't waiting for the best deal. Or...his wait was shortened dramatically when the GOVERNOR started her administrative hearing (@the Detroit City Council's request) to REMOVE KK. His lawyers tried to block the hearing, saying the governor was biased. He was stalling it because it's on the books that the governor has such powers to remove a public official for misconduct in office. In a word, KK is DELUSIONAL. And it's sad. And his wife is a GOOD one. After his speech yesterday, I felt kinda bad for the jump-off. I wonder if KK's words about his wife will prompt the mistress to spill the tea to the prosecutor.

Name: gingerg
Comment: Kwame said Detroit "set him up for a comeback." Surely, this brother is delusional. And poor Christine Beatty. The Detroit News has a picture of her that is worth a thousand words. In the end, his crazy wife is standing there with him at the press conference. What does that tell you?

Name: DOne
Comment: >TGen, most of the things Kwame list as accomplishments were deals that were already in place before he was elected. If fact, his first 4 years were plagued with scandle from day 1, it just wasn't the type of stuff that made national news.

Name: Sexee
Comment: This is the Male Version of Lisa Raye, he had a wonderful opportunity and messed it up... Kwame, instead of brandish the moniker of the "Hip-Hop" Mayor you should have brandish the one for change.. However, your actions would have contradicted the moniker and it would've still came to this demise... I have no tears for fools who have it all and loose it for foolishness.

Name: Grace
Comment: to: DOne] On WDIV, they showed how pretty Carlita use to look. He got her looking old and ugly. Christine is in the same boat. What got me in his speech was that he accused others of trying to break up his marriage. He did that himself. I really did not like that jab he gave Gov. Granholm. She along with Kym and Mike were dragging their feet. He had plenty of chances to redeem himself but never took the opportunity to do so. The last straw was when he lied on the mayor of Windsor.

Name: Dovelyone
Comment: Right, Grace, esp. re. breaking up his marriage. HE did that. DE.LUSIONAL.

Name: TGen
Comment: Yep, Grace, I saw that part too. It's somebody ELSE who tried to break up his marriage, lol, someone ELSE made him screw around, smh. That and seeing his wife shake her weave head in agreement are what I found most nauseating.

Name: DOne
Comment: >Grace, don't feel sorry for Carlita because she had no problem taking personal vacations on the city's credit card and using vehicles purchased by the police department for her personal use. Then there's the scholarship charity that she was running at some point in which it was discovered that she was paying herself and family members huge salaries while only a hand full of scholarships had been rewarded. She's just as big of crook as Kwame.

Name: fanteeking
Comment: DOne: Thanks for that information. I didn't know that Carlita was shaky too. I'll stop feeling sorry for her shykster azz.

Name: Rusha1976
Comment: Very sad that an African American male can get into a position that very few are able to hold and tarnish it in this way.

Name: Disillusioned_Jones
Comment: I concur with fanteeking in that if this was one of us then we'd be locked away for waaayyy more than 4 months. My bet is that he will be out of jail to enjoy Xmas with his family. I really have a hard time with people, not just Kwame, but people in general that exhibit absolutely no personal responsibility. This nation is morally bankrupt. You can now blame any and everybody for your demise despite your own immoral convictions. Talk about this nation going to hell in a gasoline soaked wicker basket...and the worst part is that when I see Kwame Kilpatrick for Governor signs in 2014 I won't be disgusted, even if he won...

Name: 6footah
Comment: HALLELUJAH!!!!

Name: HersheysKiss
Comment: Not feeling sorry for Carlita one bit! She knows the fool she married and was happy to reap the benefits of his stealing & trifling azz!! I don't believe for 1 hot minute that she knew NOTHING of his ugly fat azz being a tramp. At the end of the day that's all he is! AND had the nerve to say after much fasting, he came to this difficult decision WT?....fasting from what? 'Pillsbury Po' Boy' look like he ain't missed a meal since he was conceived. This clown owes a HUGE apology to the successful/decent black men out there doing something of substance, taking care of their families and communities. Oh and good luck being mayor of Cell Block H, Prisoner #54321.

Name: BlkATLTop
Comment: As soon as he's eligible, he'll probably run for office again in Detroit- and will more than likely win.

Name: Deb70
Comment: Kwame is a disgrace and he deserves everything that is coming to him. Because it ain't over. He's got civil suits that are going to be coming at him left and right, he's got lawyers suing him for non-payment, and the Feds are coming for him (and his father) re: tax evasion, racketeering, money laundering; and last but not least, the murder of Tamara Greene, the stripper who was killed after dancing at his private party and getting a beatdown from Carlita when they got caught. He ain't coming back. When this is all over, he isn't going to know any other life BUT prison. So...Carlita, you better learn how to work. sis'. The gravy train ain't gon' last much longer.

Name: B00TANEB00TUS
Comment: Ok...enuff already...Hasn't this poor brotha been brutalized enuff?...We need to feel sorry for him...for there but for the grace of God go I...Go I, Go I....Here we had a brotha who showed great promise...He was lauded as a Great Young Black Hope...Check the Detriot news when he was first elected...What happened to him?...He was done in by the flesh and White folks...I refuse to sit here and drag this brotha through the mud...Beatty and Carlita both took advantage of this poor, simpleton of a man...He wanted to do good by Detroit but they wouldn't let him...He was branded the "Hip-hop Mayor" so he had to live by that code of morals...Easy women and easy money did the poor Brotha in...I hope he can comeback...Fair-thee-well poor Kwame...I once knew ye...

Name: Deb70
Comment: And the mofo had the NERVE to quote from the Bible during his press conference. That made me laugh out LOUD. He has committed every sin there is. Fat, arrogrant, clown.

Name: DOne
Comment: >Deb, you are correct. Lawyers representing Tamara Greene's son are already suing and are fighting for the release of more text messages to determine if Kwame was involved with putting a halt to the murder investigation. If that proves true he will likely face charges of intefering with a police investigation. The police chief resigned the other day, so if the murder case is reopened, there's a whole other barrel of worms that will be opened.

Name: DOne
Comment: >blkATLTop, you are also correct. If Kwame can wiggle himself out of the other stuff that is coming; I predict he will run for city council in about 6 years unless the structure of the council is changes. Detroit entire council is elected at large so he wouldn't actually have to run against anyone; the top 9 vote getters are seated and the job pays over 80k a year. Twice to my knowledge, politicans who have been convicted and served jail time has turned around and been elected to the city council in Detroit.

Name: FiveMore
Comment: What took you so long, dude?

Name: ladybyrd
Comment: Kwame became "drunk with power". Some people can't handle having things at your finger tips. For some reason, there were blacks who didn't believe that he did all these things. He was able to explain everything away and they believe him. This dude is a LOSER in huge proportions.

Name: TheQuietGuy
Comment: The mayor breezed by Christine Beatty as if she wasn't there, too, in Courtroom 303. Once she was powerful, exciting, important. Now she is the invisible woman, the shamed woman, the woman left behind. Glad-handing and hugging acquaintances on Thursday, he walked directly in front of the woman who has occupied many roles in his life -- his chief of staff, his lover, his campaign manager, his high school classmate, his partner in courtroom lies. Some observers say he didn't stop. Detroit News reporter Doug Guthrie, caught a shared greeting, the mayor's hand cupping hers. Outside, a few citizens remembered her on the sidewalk. "It's between him, her and God," one woman said. A quicker fall back to earth His story is all about untrammeled ego, about a man with charisma and political gifts exercising too many prerogatives too carelessly. The punishments heaped on him by Prosecutor Kym Worthy were deserved in part because of his behavior since he was charged: all that high-handed obstinacy and free-wheeling travel telegraphing arrogance. "That kind of conduct you go to jail for," she said. Beatty, once famously arrogant herself, fell to earth more quickly than her former boss: no job, no defense fund war chest, no loyal mate standing beside her. Even on Thursday, as Kilpatrick at last stopped joking and looked solemn, his wife Carlita was there, enduring yet another public ordeal. Until Christine Beatty left the room, the three of them, seated in different parts of the room, composed a visual triangle. Beatty's circumstances haven't lent themselves easily to delusions of grandeur or status. Everybody knows who she is now, but not in the way she once expected them to. With two children, no income and the looming possibility of jail, even her law school escape plan has collapsed: With so many court dates scheduled, her lawyer says, she's taken a break from her studies. What he didn't say is that the likelihood of a felony conviction makes the task of earning a law degree pointless. Does she feel bitter toward the man who was once the center of her world? She gazed at him in court, fixedly at times, but never again caught his eye. And Mayer Morganroth, the attorney who says he's no longer being paid, declined to speak to her state of mind. "I haven't discussed (Kwame Kilpatrick) with her," he said by phone after the hearing. "I don't want to cause any additional pain."

Name: TheQuietGuy
Comment: He describes her life as difficult, "a mess," and lonely. As surely as Hester Prynne, the subject of Hawthorne's "Scarlet Letter," she's paying a price for her sins meted out in social isolation. "She is estranged from her friends," says Morganroth, explaining that she had been a workaholic whose social world was based in the office. On Thursday, Wayne County Judge David Groner postponed Beatty's final pre-trial court date for Sept. 11. If she noticed the date as ominous, she offered no sign. In a week, she will have to swallow a harsh deal or move on to trial. "I've tried lots of cases," Morganroth said. "We're not afraid to go to trial." Outside the courtroom, a few demonstrators cheered her on. "We love you Chris," one said, as she walked out the front door, into the parking lot, her head held high.

Name: ChiDiva9
Comment: This booger got less than what he deserved - however I think he will try a come back. The Marion Barry of the Midwest. Stay tuned...

Name: FiveMore
Comment: I am sorry to say this, but if you lay down with dogs, you will get up with a million fleas.Christine knew that the guy was married and she was a married woman as well...but she decided to for go the vows and deal with this creep, so sometimes you have to take your medicine even though it is bitter, slimy and nasty. Kwame took the cake though because this guy was a ridiculous, bold and pompous mess!

Name: FiveMore
Comment: And, Do you know that I wondered why C-SPAN put the trial on the air in the first place? That mess looked so orchestrated because the council had asked Granholm to step in months ago but I didn't see anything happening on the national news scene. Could it be an orchestrated effort to link Kwame Kilpatrick with Obama? This is why I know Kwame was stupid for not resigning when this mess first broke earlier this year. But actually, what does this have to do with Obama, he is not Kilpatrick, is he?When other folk get in trouble, do they put all white people in one category like they do us. These simple minded people make mind cranium hurt....uhhhhhhhh!!!

Name: DOne
Comment: Actually, Fivemore, Kwame was a Hillary supporter up until the end when it was clear that OB would get the nomination so its really a mute point.

Name: MOTHERSHIP
Comment: I don't understand what the problem is. Okay, he cheat on his wife, and lied about it, so did half the politicians in Washington, so I don't understand what the brouhaha and the persecution of Kwame is all about.

Name: ladybyrd
Comment: Mothership> This JOKER used his position to fire employees then he lied about it. He also spent grant money on his family, and cost the city millions. Take his black a** to jail.

Name: MOTHERSHIP
Comment: Ladybyrd, oh, okay. I was wonderin' what the hell he did to warrant all this. LOL!
