Comment: As much as we'd like to say it, Oprah has said that her show would not be used as a political platform for anyone, including her candidate of choice. To that she's been consistent. She did have Barack Obama on her show in October 2006, but that was to promote his book and that was before he officially announced that he would run for president. The last presidential candidate to appear on her show as George W. Bush, I believe... and look how that turned out. That lady can have of decline to have whomever she wishes on her show.

Comment: I don't think it's biased at all. She stated that she would not use her show as a platform for ANY candidate. She didn't have Hillary on her show, so why Palin? Correct me if I'm wrong, but has Obama or Michelle been on her show? So no, I believe it's Oprah's dang show and she should have whom she chooses. I'm sick of people thinking they own Oprah, thus she should be a good lil n*gga and cowtow to the whims of her audience. At the end of the day, she calls the shots and that's the way it's supposed to be.

Comment: Let's be clear about a few things: 1) Oprah Winfrey OWNS the Oprah Winfrey Show meaning she has complete creative control over content. 2) Oprah owns the studio her show is produced and filmed in 3) ABC provides syndication for the show making sure that no matter where you are in the country, you can always watch Oprah at 4:00 PM. 4) Any show that spawns from the Oprah Winfrey Show or produced by Oprah is not allowed to be shown in a competitive timeslot. The point of all this is to say that Ms. Winfrey can do what she wants when she wants because she is the one calling the shots. No one can (or should) pressure her into using her show as a political platform for anyone. This is not a risky move; Oprah's core audience isn't going anywhere. Sarah Palin will have to wait until after November 4 - after she and McCain have lost the election.

Comment: ABC will not pull Oprah's show because she won't interview Sarah Palin now. They make too much money to ever do that and it would cost them a lot of money to get out of the contract. Oprah's current TV contract is due to expire in in 2011. This is a full 11 years after she initially planned to retire. She's a consistent ratings winner and the only reason why you don't hear of her winning Daytime Emmy's anymore is because she took her name out of competition after winning multiple years in a row. Could ABC pull distribution early? Possibly, but it's unlikely. If they did, it would't be because of not interviewing Sarah Palin because someone thinks she should now. Besides OPrah still has her magazine and a $55M three year contract with XM Satellite radio plus she's making mad money from the Rachel Ray and Dr. Phil shows. Arsenio lost his show because of sinking ratings, not because of what he would or wouldn't do.
