Comment: Mo, I agree with you on everything except your encouragement for voters to not exercise their right if they don't know who/what they are voting for. I am torn on your statement. I see what you're getting at, but for young African American voters, in the least, its a way of continuing to teach them of what our ancestors went through in order for us to have these rights. I made a promise to myself that even if I didn't keep up with all of the going-ons of an election, I would exercise my right because my grandmother for a while couldn't. I ALSO remember having a discussion with a brotha' my age (at that time mid-20's), and we were spewing our issues with the local and federal government. Most of the things we respectfully agreed on, some we respectfully didn't. After about 5 mins. I asked him if he voted in the last election. He said he didn't...I told him everything he just complained about was null and void. So, although we all know P.Diddy is a high-class coon, I am still somewhat grateful that he is encouraging youngins' to vote. Some of them are on the cusp of realizing how much the next 4 years will truly affect them.

Comment: MoKelly, sounds like you are broaching the "test before vote" resurgence, which was struck down because the tests (of course) discriminated against Blacks. But, personally I am a proponent of this contraversial measure. I wholeheartedly believe people ignorant of facts should not have the priveledge of voting on said facts. I think having a basic levels info test before voting is a great idea. Idiots wield too much power in this country. The 2-term presidency of George W Bush is proof-positive. I appreciate Puffy's excitement and everyone's excitement about this election, but ignorance is very dangerous. Hate to be so cruel, but oh well...

Comment: TGen, I understand, but if I am solely concerned about...let's say gay marriage, or abortion and I vote only on the beliefs of those two major issues. Do I have to be completely educated on the issues of raising taxes or Iraq? I SHOULD, but my rights shouldn't be taken away if I'm not concerned about those. People do that all of the time. Voting is a RIGHT, not a priviledge.

Comment: 6footah, you make a good point. I never thought of it like that. But voting is not a right, it is a priveledge. Everyone is not entitled to vote under some laws (like convicted felons).

Comment: I know its a priviledge, I thought about that after I hit the 'Submit' button....he heh eh. But I completely disagree that once a convicted felon does his/her time, they don't get the right back.

Comment: 6footah, in GA, they do, if they've fully paid restitution and have gotten off parole. But it's still not a "right" per se. But we are arguing semantics, lol. I think we both get each other's point. :)

Comment: Owning firearms is a constitutional right too...and that's the clearest example of just because people have the right to do something, with poor information it could have disastrous consequences.
Having the right usually includes some responsibilities.

Comment: Haterism at its finest. What's wrong with Diddy voicing HIS opinion on political matters? Oh wait, he's a rapper so he should just shut up and worry about rapper things huh? I've heard and read comments ten times worse than what diddy said on his video blog from the likes of Bill O'Reilly, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, and Rush Limbaugh. Yet those clowns have T.V. and radio shows that reach out to millions. Where's the outrage in that MO? You gonna dedicate an entire column to that ignorance?

Comment: Willie...I didn't express outrage at his comments...I expressed dismay at the ignorance contained therein...
And CONTENT ASIDE, you really can't even compare Diddy to Limbaugh, Coulter et al.
You're confusing agreeing with the content of what someone has to say with having just simple common sense and sentence structure.
I don't care what Diddy does in his hip hop world, but his political commentary is garbage from the bottom up.
And seeing as I have taken the likes of EVERYONE you've mentioned to task...I'm MORE THAN CONSISTENT.
Google if you doubt...
So the facts just aren't on your side.
Idiots aren't limited to just who we don't agree with.

Comment: And like I said in the piece (which you clearly didn't read closely)
He's FREE to voice his opinions...and I'm FREE to expose them for how ignorant they are.
See that's how it works in informed political discussions. You have to actually be able to back up your point and make sense...neither of which he does.
That's not haterism youngin, that's common sense.

Comment: See...political debate inherently contains critique...which is different from haterism or even being critical, depending on the critique's content.
But you obviously haven't spent enough time in the political debate circle, so it would seem unfamiliar to you.
Like I laid out in the piece. Art is art, but political debate is subject to critique.
If (you) or Diddy don't like his political commentary being critiqued, then he shouldn't offer his political critique in the first place...see how that works?
Please learn the definition of haterism. Haterism has some level of implied envy.
Uh...no. I just want Diddy to stay in his lane.
He's out of his league, his element and is nothing short of a fool here.
He's "free" to do it...but it is what it is.
