Comment: You have been on a steady decline your past few posts, right into the sewer. Each time I think you can't get any lower, you surprise me JPhillips. It's so ironic you write about "the new left's" (whatever the hell that is, really the "left" is now the "center" seeing as how neocons have tried to push this country over the edge, but I digress on that) supposed contempt for Americans. It's ironinc because you EMBODY the simpleton that most smart Americans despise. There really is in reality on one word that would provide a sufficient response to your stupid "Americans are really smart" premise--BUSH. Is there really anymore more to say??? A comment on an article in the NYT says simply, "Dumb people make dumb decisions." You should try to digest that simple yet profound idea next time you put on your TOMfoolery hat to defend White folks who can only laugh at your severe naivete. I'm inclined to think your hatred (yes, at this point, that's what it appears to be) for Obama is rooted in one issue-abortion. Simpletons are one-issue voters, and you most def fall into that category. So in that vein, you fit right in with the racists and warmongers, many who are also one-issue voters. All of you will be responsible for this country's downfall should Cain and Moose win, should Bush's policies go unchallenged. You're just too "Amercian" or too simple or just too stupid to realize it. I could go on and on, but what would be the point?

This time however you have the nerve to say 'following the thumping' without regard for the fact that bushit STOLE both elections with thievery and deceit of the worst kind and magnituted. Never before in history did we have so many last minute changes and rules in poling places nor so many machines malfunctioning. Comment: This article reads like a black man who is angry. Angry that his party is on the losing end. Angry that a black man is defying his own expectations for what a black man (unless he's a republican) can be. Angry that his party's VP choice is beginning to sound like Reese Witherspoon in Clueless. And Most of all, angry that he can't justify why republicans should lead the country. It is Elizabeth Hasselback in a wife beater and timbz. Since you can't talk about "why" your candidates are the real thing..you throw it back talking about why the other is not. Don't blame the democrats...blame both parties (but i'll talk about republicans). Republicans say that average americans shouldn't relate to an ivy-league, well educated, ex-state senator, current US senator, married to a wife of 16 years, owning one car and just finished paying off their student loans. Instead republicans say that they 'should' relate to a woman from a state 95% of americans will never visit, mayor of a town the size of a large church congregation, who attended 5 different schools and can't name a newspaper. My friend, those are republican talking points. My friend, republicans and democrats alike tell the public "who" is more like them..that they should want to have a beer w/their president. My friend, pundits on both sides say that americans don't understand nuance and complexity--that is has to be given like a hooked on phonics presentation. My friend, I wanna have a beer w/my friends. My friend, I want my presidents to graduate from MIT.

Comment: Oh JCP is angry alright! And I'm thrilled! Just thrilled. He and other conservatives can ram their anger, gall, shock or whatever the heck they're going through at the idea of Barack Obama becoming President of this country, right up their putrid azzes. The problem with Black conservatives, is that none of them are articulate enough to explain their point of view, their party's point of view...how they defend the indefensible...etc.. in a way that changes anyone's negative perceptions of the Grand Ole Party. JCP, if he was smart, which he isn't since he caused 'The Cosby Show' to be cancelled with his non-acting azz, would be writing columns telling people WHY John McCain is better than Barack Obama, what his record is with working with minorities...I mean tell any voter that is for Obama why they should give John McCain a look. But JCP can't. He's angry because he knows his candidate is pitiful. John McCain is pitiful and...is McCain running mate Laverne or Shirley? I forget...oh yeah, I mean Sarah Palin. Sorry, JCP. That not 'liberal contempt' coming through just plain ole contempt period. And the jealousy...I can smell it! JCP's black azz couldn't get elected dog catcher in a conservative district. Now that's the truth ruth!

Comment: TGen,
It’s hard for me to give JCP much of my time and energies. I’m going to just expose him by fact checking him. First of all, his stories are all stale. His article is classic Republicanism. When you’ve got nothing, invent a different reality and spread that in the hopes of pulling the okey doke on your opponent. Classic and tragic. Three weeks ago McCain and Palin were riding high on the heels of the Republican Convention. McCain was ahead in the national polls, and Palin’s scandal upon scandal were barely making noise. She hadn’t proven herself to be clueless. Her favorability had not yet slipped; McCain had not yet gone erratic; and the Republicans still thought that they would win the White House. The quotes were all taken from that time. The Sibelius quote was made on or about September 16th. Cafferty’s quote … also on September 16th. Grunwald’s Time Article? Published September 15th. Most telling as to JCP’s strategy of reinventing history by talking us into a different place is that Fatima Ali’s article was published on September 2nd (yes, a month ago… THAT September 2nd). And she didn’t “threaten a race war if Obama doesn’t win.” JCP is obviously challenged in the reading department. Rather than tell you what she wrote here is what she said: “If McCain wins, look for a full-fledged race and class war, fueled by a deflated and depressed country, soaring crime, homelessness - and hopelessness! … But when Obama wins the White House, we may just see a revolution that can turn the tide and improve this nation for everyone, not just a select few. And I expect him to keep his word” For anyone to say from that that she’s threatening a race war if Obama doesn’t win, calls them out as intellectual frauds. Anger, as ‘Herbs said, can be the only obvious reason. I’m not going after JCP because of his ideas. We all can agree to disagree. But I will call him out for his transparency in trying to reinvent reality. The reality is that Obama, notwithstanding all of JCPs tired ploys, is up in the polls, nationally and via the electoral college. If the election were done today, it would be an electoral landslide. The reality is Palin has shown herself to be an ill-informed buffoon. The reality is that most Americans, regardless of whether JCP labels them liberal or conservative, say that Obama would be a better president over the economy and (based on the national polls) president. The reality is that McCain didn’t know whether the economy’s fundamentals were strong or whether we truly were in crisis. JCP can blame this on liberals all he wants. He can trump up non-realities, show his lack of comprehension, all he wants. All he proves is the truth of his momma’s words that “bad habits are hard to break.” I’ll be worried when JCP shows me today how more Americans agree with him… Oh … that’s right… he can’t.

Rarely do I post here, but I have to agree with some of the other posters. Clearly you hate Obama and what you call "new" left liberals, so what makes you think we care what your opinions are. I really think you have some self hatred going on. You can do us all a favor and post your opinions on the "other" sites where you and your right wing conservatives share the same views. It baffels me that you would come here to write what you deem is your journalistic view, knowing you're not welcomed, nor do we give a sheeittttt... and yes, I spelled that incorrectly, just in case you feel to point that out to me. Please, I beg you, go away. We don't want you here.

Comment: JCP, JCP, JCP...just when I thought you couldn't do any worse, you publish this 'article.'How in the world can you sit with a straight face and type that liberals and progressives have contempt for the American public is just downright laughable. Especially since Americans, as you pointed out in the last 7 out of 10 elections, have been patronized by the patriarchal hand of Republicans who feel it is their right and privilege to control how others think and act by improperly using Christianity to chastise and condemn others as morally corrupt or weak. And, as a black man -- if you cannot see how the media coverage of Obama is vastly different than how previous candidates have been covered in recent history is not a byproduct of racism, which definitely influences how many Americans develop their opinions of Obama, you need glasses. TGen...pegged you right. Your vitriol is reserved for one issue only -- abortion. The last few articles you've written, you've managed to sneak abortion into it. You truly are a one-issue pony. Are you that blinded by republican ideology that you have ceased to think critically and conduct basic research? Until you can present a cogent argument as to why anyone should vote for the Republican ticket, your feeble and blatant attempts at misdirection are simple-minded and tired.

Comment: Regardless of the way I personally feel about abortion, the government has no right to tell a woman what to do with her uterus. Period. The government has no right to tell consenting adults how they can behave in their bedrooms. Period. It always baffles me how "small government" republican types are always pushing for big government when it comes to people's private lives (like their sex lives and their inner baby-making organs).

Comment: We need points of view like JCP's on this site. It should remind us not to relax and take things for granted. Make sure you vote this time and get your voice heard! From what I have read, since the Kennedy election barely 70% of the voting-age public bothered to register. Of those registrants, only 80% actually shows up to the polls. This means that we have a turn-out of about 55% of the eligible population determining the fate of the entire nation! Now, growing up in the South, I was told all of the stories about how the Black vote was suppressed by grand-father clauses and competency test; however, we are better educated now. There will still be those that try to deny you your right, but ask questions early - be sure of your status prior to November 4th. Whatever they can use to keep you from voting, get that taken care of now! JCP, keep up the blind partisan rant. I'll use it as additional motivation to not only make sure I vote, but to get as many people to the polls that are willing to go.

Your one note I-hate-Black-folks no matter how accomplished they may be has gotten very old and tired. I am not a liberal but over the recent past I have come to have a great deal of contempt for you. Not only are you a liar when it comes to having your head up the republicans' azzes, you come across as having such hatred and contempt for Black people that it boggles the mind. I use to think you were just playing devil's advocate, but you do it too well for it to only be an act. I know that in New York and other parts of the country we refer to New Jersey as the toxic state because of all the toxic waste dumped there, but it is apparent that a disproportionate amount of that waste has seeped into your alleged brain. Why don't you go play with Ann Coulter or Michelle Malkin (who also is not yt) and commiserate with them on how horrible we Black people are? You really need to fade to white and never darken the doorway of a Black website again.

I respect black folk who don't necessarily talk, walk or look or think like me, but folks like Phillips, Larry Elders and Armstrong Williams come across as if they honestly want to be white. It's not that I always disagree with black conservatives; I agree with some of the things that John McWhorter and Shelby Steele write. But what is Phillips thinking? Has he not watched CNN or listened to NPR interview people who have blatantly said they wouldn't vote for Obama because he's black? Has he not read the report that 40% of white Democrats hold negative views of blacks that could affect Obama's chances in such a close race? Does he honestly believe that given the way the Republicans have shamelessly destroyed this country in the past 8 years that if the Democratic candidate was white that this race would even be this close? Conservative views are one thing, but Phillips, you are totally out of touch and would rather not read anymore of comments on this website!

He told of the white military telling the french girls that the black soldiers that were coming had monkey tails so when the black soldiers got there the girls asked to see. That wasn't good enough for the white officers so they pulled a black soldier much like CJ from their ranks, stuck a tail to the seat of his pants and he commenced to dancing on a table top for their amusement. Adolph Ceasar said 'even when we were cutting his throat he had the nerve to ask why'! JCP be careful someone doesn't bring that line to life.
